Chelsea suffer huge transfer blow as chief confirms that the Blues' No 1 target is not for sale
Chelsea have suffered a blow in the transfer market as they were told that their top target was not for sale.
On Tuesday, it was revealed by the player's club that he 'is not leaving' for Stamford Bridge this summer.
Enzo Maresca 's side had previously looked at a deal for the individual prior to the beginning of the Club World Cup.
However, an agreement could not be reached as Chelsea wanted to pay £15milllion for the player, whose club wanted at least £20million.
AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare told reporters that goalkeeper Mike Maignan will not be departing for the Premier League side.
He said: ''Maignan is not leaving, he will be at Milan again next season.
'There was interest from a Premier League club but in the end no agreement was found.'
'Also knowing that Maignan is an important point of reference not only on the pitch, but also off the pitch, we decided to focus on him for next season and to move forward together.
'Football is unpredictable, but for us he remains a point of reference in this team.'
It comes as a blow to Chelsea in their pursuit of a new first-choice goalkeeper after Maresca appeared unimpressed with the performances of both Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen - who he both dropped as number one throughout last season.
The pair could be challenged by youngster Mike Penders for a starting place after he returned to the fold having been on loan at Belgian side Genk the previous campaign.
However, in what may come as a surprise move to some Blues fans, Djordje Petrovic is set to leave after being left out of Chelsea's Club World Cup squad.
He enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Ligue 1 side Strasbourg in 2024-25 having been Chelsea's number one towards the end of 2023-24.
Chelsea have been given a boost elsewhere, as a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens could be finalised 'imminently', according to reports.
Chelsea's pursuit of the young forward appeared to hit stumbling block when it emerged that Bayern Munich were interested.
Their intervention, though, is now not thought to prove an issue, with the player himself preferring a move to Chelsea.

The forward, who enjoyed an illustrious career in European football from 2001 to 2011, clinched a Champions League title with Barcelona and a Scudetto with AC Milan, amongst other honours. Ronaldinho, who triumphed at the 2002 World Cup with Brazil, has nearly 250 career domestic goals to his name, along with registering 181 assists. He has always been known for his relaxed demeanour and reported disinterest in training while playing, yet it appears his notoriety may be overshadowing him post-retirement. In 2018, he hung up his boots, but his star power remained in demand, which led him to be featured at the Ronaldinho Show, a football charity event complete with freestyle displays and penalty shootouts, alongside live music performances. This extravaganza took place on Saturday at Chorzów's Silesian Stadium in Poland and saw Ronaldinho grace the pitch alongside his friends and local footballing heroes. Article continues below Although meant to be a gala day, the mood shifted as Ronaldinho's attendance came under scrutiny by the Polish show Moc Futbolu, implying the legend left much to be desired with his brief appearance, reports the Mirror. Ronaldinho allegedly caused quite a commotion among organisers when he arrived two hours late to the pre-match meal prior to the charity event. The football legend played for 73 minutes in the exhibition before being subbed off, after which he's accused of leaving promptly and not even waiting to know the final score at the end of the match. Despite facing criticism for his behaviour during the charity match, Ronaldinho expressed his gratitude on social media, acknowledging the many spectators who paid to see him, as well as his son and brother, who joined him. Article continues below "Thank you Poland! What an incredible night with almost 60,000 people in the stadium! A beautiful party," Ronaldinho, aged 45, shared on X. "Thanks to all athletes who participated; it was a very special feeling to be on the field with my brother and son... A movie played in my head with [ex-Porto goalkeeper] Helton also giving way to his son. "Our lives are dedicated to football and to receive this affection in a country so far from our own only makes me very thankful... I just want to thank God and all of you, my friends, family and professional colleagues, you've brought me this far! Thank you."

Man United 'target SHOCK move for relegated Premier League star - but face competition from one other top flight club'
Manchester United are reportedly targeting a shock move for Leicester City midfielder Wilfried Ndidi. The Nigerian star is said to be available for a cut-price fee this summer after the Foxes were immediately relegated from the Premier League. Mail Sport understands that Ndidi had a release clause inserted into his contract when he penned a three-year extension after helping them win the Championship title last year. United are interested in signing Ndidi and could trigger his clause for just £9million, according to talkSPORT. The bargain clause only became active as a result of Leicester's relegation to the second tier. Everton and a number of Saudi Pro League sides are also reportedly interested in the 28-year-old. Ruben Amorim's side are linked with a move for the Leicester City midfield star for just £9m Last summer both United and Everton were linked with the former Genk man but he signed an extension, taking his stay at the King Power to eight years. Ndidi made 28 appearances in the Premier League last season, providing five assists as Leicester finished in 18th, 13 points below Tottenham in 17th. Meanwhile, the Red Devil's missed out on an estimated £100m windfall after losing last month's Europa League final and missing out on a Champions League berth. Old Trafford won't see European competition for just the the second time in 35 years, as United finished in 15th in the league - their lowest since they were relegated in 1974. Ndidi's low fee could make him an affordable target, while Casemiro is rumoured to be heading for an exit. Despite missing out on European football, Ruben Amorim's side still have a healthy budget and have already scooped Matheus Cunha for £62.5m. Leicester will hope for an immediate return to the Premier League having been relegated They have also launched a bid in excess of £60m for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo. Amorim is desperate to bolster his squad but he must offload deadwood before spending even more heavily. They are looking to sell Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony.
