Gracie Abrams debuts brand-new song with best friend Audrey Hobert in concert

USA Today4 days ago
INGLEWOOD, California — Gracie Abrams might be wrapping up The Secret of Us Deluxe Tour, but she's far from done with treating her fans.
After spending the first few songs getting acclimated to the "fever dream" that was performing a hometown show at the Kia Forum, the 25-year-old ushered out Audrey Hobert, her "best friend, also soul mate and also my favorite artist in the world" as a surprise guest during the first of Abrams' two Los Angeles shows Aug. 6.
Once 26-year-old Hobert overcame any timidness and awe at the exuberant crowd — "I just need to stare at you" to focus, she told Abrams — the former roommates bantered and built up tension for what they'd perform together. (Spoiler: It was a "totally brand new" song they'd recorded around the time they wrote the fan-favorite "That's So True" on Abrams' sophomore album, "The Secret of Us (Deluxe).")
Before they were musical collaborators, with Hobert cowriting seven of the 17 tracks on the aforementioned record and set to release her debut album Aug. 15, they were schoolkids who bonded over footwear.
They'd met through a mutual friend, Clementine, while in the bathroom at Abrams' fifth-grade graduation. Hobert, then a sixth grader, had clocked Abrams' white high-top Converse, which Hobert pointed out was exactly what she'd worn to her fifth grade graduation.
"And in that moment we knew that 10, 15, years later we'd be at the Forum," Abrams joked.

And with that, they were ready to let the world in on their unreleased song, "Minibar."
"This is our song together and it's kinda fun playing it like this because there isn't really a version of it yet that exists yet," Abrams explained as she strummed her acoustic guitar.
Hobert took the first verse, then the duo harmonized on the chorus and bridge, singing about feeling out of place at a party.
It wasn't the only track of the night that Abrams hasn't recorded in a studio. During her time on the childhood bedroom-themed B-stage, she seemingly spontaneously — and to the tune of thousands of delighted shrieks — launched into a deep cut, her Soundcloud release from around a decade ago titled "In Between."
After debuting "Minibar," the friends performed their song that took on a life of its own on social media last year, "That's So True." And as she did in her first The Secret of Us tour lap in LA last year, she closed her set in jubilant fashion with "Close To You."
Abrams' team brands this as a "victory lap" tour for the singer, who wrapped The Secret of Us tour in July and launched into this Deluxe tour more than a week later in Boston.
As the tour winds down, Abrams has treated her fans to appearances from special guests in recent weeks. "Everywhere, Everything" collaborator Noah Kahan popped on stage for her two Boston shows, and Robyn joined for a duet of "Dancing on My Own" during Abrams' Lollapalooza set.
She invited up another contemporary, Lizzy McAlpine, for a performance of McAlpine song "Ceilings" at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

Watch Gracie Abrams Cover Taylor Swift's ‘All Too Well' During L.A. Concert

Gracie Abrams took a moment from her show to play a song that isn't hers, but that her fans definitely know: 'All Too Well (10 Minute Version).' During her show at the Kia Forum on Thursday, the musician played the Taylor Swift favorite. 'It just is not lost on me that the reason that a lot of us know each other is because I got to meet many of you through doing the Eras Tour with Taylor,' Abrams told the crowd. 'I just feel like I'm forever missing what that experience was. I know we all feel that way … I wanted to sing a song for you that I'll forever wish I wrote, if you've got 10 minutes.' More from Rolling Stone Drummergeddon 2025: Why We're Witnessing a Global Percussion Apocalypse Charlotte Lawrence Loves Gracie Abrams and Sad Songs, But Rightfully Hates Men Who Vape Sorry, Trump - Taylor Swift's Career Is Still Very Hot Before performing, she shared that she and Swift had talked 'earlier today,' so it seemed fitting for her to play a song by her friend. Abrams was one of the many openers of Swift's Eras Tour in 2023 and 2024, and even joined Swift onstage during her part of the show several times. During one night in London, Swift and Abrams sang 'Us' together, in Toronto, they did a mash-up of 'Us' and 'Out of the Woods,' and during one of the final nights in Vancouver, the pair performed 'I Love You, I'm Sorry' and 'Last Kiss.' When she was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys last year, Abrams spoke to Rolling Stone about the most significant milestone moments of the year, and spoke of joining Swift on the road, saying she gained experience 'from watching Taylor's show as many times as I have and just kind of being in close proximity to her, learning from her as a musician and as a friend and as a business person.' Swift and Abrams dueted on 'Us' on Abrams' The Secret of Us album. 'I am currently smiling and sweating thinking about it, and I'll never get over the shock of seeing this one on the tracklist. You know how I feel,' Abrams wrote on X when she dropped the song. Abrams is nearing the end of her The Secret of Us Deluxe tour with shows at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Mexico City's Pepsi Center WTC still left before the end of August. Gracie Abrams Masters Easy Festival Dressing With the Perfect Shade of Blush Pink

THE RUNDOWN: Gracie Abrams is the master of low-key stage style, and her recent look at Outside Lands Music Festival is no exception. Over the weekend, The Secret of Us singer wore a custom GapStudio look designed by Gap Inc. executive vice president and creative director Zac Posen while performing in San Francisco. The blush pink halter dress, which was styled by her longtime collaborator Spencer Singer, featured a deep V-neckline, open back, and flowing pleats, creating easy movement as she twirled across the stage. Posen was in attendance at the festival and took to Instagram to celebrate the moment. In one post, he noted that the singer's look was designed just a stone's throw away in the brand's hometown studio, also in San Francisco. The two were all smiles as he congratulated Abrams in a second post, adding, 'Pure talent, pure heart. A star, no question.' On the grounds, Gap also hosted 'The Hoodie House,' a booth dedicated to celebrating the Bay Area's creative energy. The activation, which was overseen by Posen, allowed fans to craft their own custom hoodies in partnership with the locally-based non-profit organization Holy Stitch, which uplifts displaced workers, senior citizens, and ex-felons through teaching sewing, technology, art, and building community. Abrams has been on a roll with festivals lately, making her debut on the Glastonbury stage, sporting a flowing red dress and matching bandana, before returning to New York to perform two consecutive sold-out nights at Madison Square Garden (in Miu Miu and Chanel, no less). Next, she continues the final leg of her The Secret of Us Tour, which will wrap at the end of August.

Lola Tung Spotted at Gracie Abrams Concert With Noah Beck

If you're one of the 25 million people tuning in to watch season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty, you're all too familiar with Belly Conklin's complicated love Lola Tung's relationship history is far more mysterious. The actor has never spoken about who she's dating and tends to keep her private life out of the public eye, which is why fans were so 👀 when she was recently spotted chatting with TikTok star Noah Beck. On August 8, several onlookers caught Lola and Noah hanging out during night two of Gracie Abrams' The Secret of Us tour in L.A., and it wasn't long before the videos started making the rounds on the internet. Ahem: And of course, fans flooded the comments section with thoughts/theories. 'Plot twist: Belly marries Noah Beck,' one commenter wrote. 'The summer I joined the Sway House,' wrote another. Oh, and there's also this wild theory that was thrown out there: 'Noah BECK…..Conrad BECK Fisher…..is she confirming Belly ends up with Conrad?' these two an item? Before we get into the theories, let's talk about the facts. The first being: Lola and Noah go back to at least 2023, as evidenced by this photo they snapped with Wisdom Kaye at that year's CDFA Fashion Awards dinner. There's also the fact that these two don't look particularly coupley in this video. As TikTok user @fletchdogggg (who posted one of the original video) noted once her vid started to take off, 'Just want to clarify I don't think they're dating! There were other celebrities around them as well I took this before the concert started. They acted like they were friends tonight.' Per TMZ, other celebs at Kia Forum that night included Gracie's BF Paul Mescal, as well as Lucy Hale and her former Pretty Little Liars costar Tyler Blackburn (who you can see right behind Lola and Noah in the below video). Point being: It seems to me that Lola and Noah are just friends—though time will tell!!
