
Flying wheel bounces across Highway 400 into northbound vehicle
A flying trailer wheel sent two people to hospital Wednesday evening.
Provincial police say a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 400 near Highway 89 was hauling a boat on a trailer.
One of the wheels detached from the trailer and bounced into the northbound lanes, colliding with another vehicle.
The two occupants of that car were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two Highway 400 lanes were blocked for the investigation.

Man in custody after random assaults at Calgary bus loop

Calgary police say one man was taken into custody on Thursday after allegedly assaulting multiple people at random in the community of Huntington Hills. Officers were called to a Calgary Transit bus loop on the corner of Centre Street North and 78 Avenue N.E. at 10:45 a.m. for reports a man had punched several transit drivers. Staff Sgt. Jordan Nolan said a suspect was quickly arrested. 'Three transit drivers had been assaulted here in the parking lot,' he said. All three were treated at the scene for minor injuries. 'From what we gathered, he was walking in the area,' Nolan said. 'He came across the drivers here in the parking lot, and it was a random act.' Calgary man charged with sexual assaults of women he met on dating apps

In June 2023, a woman exchanged messages with the man using a dating app and, in September, met him for a date. After the date, the man invited her to his apartment. She agreed and they engaged in consensual activity and the woman stayed the night. In the morning, police say the man sexually assaulted her. She immediately left. She reported the incident to police in January. The second woman met the same man on a dating app in December 2024. Police say after going on a few dates, she agreed to meet him at his apartment for their next date. While she was there, they engaged in consensual activity, but then the man began to sexually assault the woman. She left and reported the incident to police in January. Following an investigation, Calgary resident Tuoyo Barnabas Sado, 36, was charged with two counts of sexual assault. He's scheduled to appear in court on July 22.
