Newly Named Global Ambassador Wyclef Jean to Join Mark Cuban at Inaugural Global Citizen NOW: Detroit Event
The event at the city's new multi-purpose Hudson's Detroit development will bring together leaders from the worlds of business, entertainment, media, philanthropy, government and nonprofits to discuss what it takes to build sustainable, inclusive cities, while spotlighting the integral role music, culture and the arts play in shaping the city's growth, according to a release. The creative economy panel conversation with Jean will also include Motown Museum chair/CEO Robin Terry and Third Man Records co-founder/co-owner Ben Blackwell and will be moderated by longtime Billboard contributor Gary Graff.

'It's a true honor to be named a Global Citizen Ambassador. I've always believed in the power of music, not as simply for entertainment, but to awaken, to connect, to move people toward something greater,' said Jean in a statement about the announcement on Thursday (see below) that he will join a roster of A-list GC Ambassadors that includes Coldplay singer Chris Martin, Hugh Jackman, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, John Legend, Usher, Charlie Puth, Common, Billy Porter, Adam Lambert and others. The singer and activist has a long history of working with the international organization focused on the fight to end extreme poverty and promote social justice.
Jean first teamed up with Global Citizen in 2021, when he reunited the Fugees for a special performance during Global Citizen Live, then took the Global Citizen Festival stage again in 2023 — where he was joined by Fugees mate and surprise guest Lauryn Hill — as well as participating in this year's Global Citizen NOW event in New York in April.
'As an artist and activist, my mission has always been to bring people together across borders and backgrounds,' Wyclef continued. 'From New York to Detroit and beyond, music speaks the language of resilience, of hope, and of purpose. At a time when the world is in need of unity, I remain committed to turning that rhythm into real change. This is not about awareness, it's about action, and together, we will continue to be the change we wish to see.'
According to organizers, Thursday's event will look at the creative economy's impact on Detroit via chats with the business leaders, activists and creatives who are shaping the city's culture, including AfroFuture Festival founder Abdul Abdullah, chef Amanda Saab, Motown Museum 2024 Amplify artist of the year Jasmine Terrell and retired Detroit Lion and filmmaker Romeo Okwara, among many others.

Kendrick Lamar Matches His Biggest Radio Hit
Kendrick Lamar and SZA's 'Luther' ties 'Not Like Us' as his longest-running No. 1 on Billboard's Rap ... More Airplay chart at 17 weeks. NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - FEBRUARY 09: Kendrick Lamar performs onstage during Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show at Caesars Superdome on February 09, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo by) Kendrick Lamar's career was already one of the most impressive in hip-hop history before he released 'Not Like Us,' his Drake diss track that ended the high-profile battle between the two superstars. That tune propelled him to never-before-seen heights, and it's now regarded as one of his biggest and best, and it succeeded across the board, from sales and streams to continued radio play. 'Not Like Us' gave Lamar the longest-running No. 1 of his career on Billboard's Rap Airplay chart, but it seems that record may not belong to that one title for long. 'Luther' Reigns on the Rap Airplay Chart Throughout much of 2025, Lamar's 'Luther,' a collaboration with his friend SZA, has dominated as one of the biggest hits in the world. The track continues to receive intense radio play across the United States, and remains a massive hit across a variety of formats. 'Luther' is currently steady at No. 1 on the Rap Airplay chart, earning its seventeenth frame in the penthouse as it holds. 'Luther' Ties 'Not Like Us' The hugely popular 'Luther' is now tied with 'Not Like Us' as Lamar's longest-running No. 1 hit ever on the Rap Airplay tally. Both have commanded the tally for 17 frames, and it appears likely that 'Luther' will push past 'Not Like Us' when Billboard refreshes its rankings, likely making it Lamar's first 18-week leader. If that happens, it won't just mark Lamar's greatest success on this list, 'Luther' will become one of the most impressive champions of all time on the ranking. 'Luther' May Beat 'Not Like Us' Again 'Not Like Us' disappeared from the Rap Airplay chart after 39 weeks, nearly half of which it spent at No. 1. 'Luther' is currently up to 33 weeks on the tally — just a little over a month behind 'Not Like Us' — and it's still holding at No. 1. Later this summer, 'Luther' could easily pass 'Not Like Us' in terms of longevity. It may even beat the 42 weeks that 'Love,' a collaboration with Zacari, managed and become the rapper's longest-charting tune, in addition to his most dominant No. 1. Kendrick Lamar Dominates The Rap Airplay Chart The Rap Airplay chart only features 25 spots, and this week, Lamar claims 20% of them. He occupies four spaces inside the top 10, as 'Luther' is joined by 'Peekaboo' with AzChike, 'Squabble Up,' and 'TV Off' alongside Lefty Gunplay. Those cuts land at Nos. 2, 6 and 10, respectively. Lamar also scores a new hit this week alongside the rap group Clipse, as 'Chains and Whips' opens at No. 24.

Radiohead Pushes Several Decades-Old Titles To New Chart Peaks
Radiohead's 'Let Down' climbs Billboard charts thanks to viral popularity, helping OK Computer reach ... More a new peak while 'Creep' hits 100 weeks globally. Musician Thom Yorke, of group Radiohead, performs, Chicago, Illinois, August 3, 2001. (Photo by) 2025 has turned out to be a big year for the band Radiohead, even though no brand new music has emerged, and none is expected at the moment. The group suddenly and unexpectedly went viral with the tune 'Let Down,' which has become a surprise hit. The decades-old composition has long been a favorite among fans, but only recently has it reached a more mainstream audience, thanks to platforms like TikTok. The popularity of 'Let Down' has been growing for weeks now. As it soars on several charts in the United States, the album it's featured on manages to hit a new high point at the same time. 'Let Down' Hits a New All-Time High At the moment, 'Let Down' appears on four Billboard rankings. It rises on two of them and declines — but only by one spot each — on the other pair. The track surges from No. 25 to No. 23 on the Alternative Streaming Songs list in just its second week on the tally, which ranks the most streamed alternative tunes across the country. The Radiohead cut reaches a never-before-seen peak as it improves its standing. The tune also returns to its previously-set high point on the general Hot Rock Songs chart, inching upward from No. 13 to No. 12. "Let Down" Boosts OK Computer's Chart Performance Continued consumption of 'Let Down' in particular helps OK Computer — the Radiohead album that the track is featured on — ascend. OK Computer lifts one spot on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, settling at No. 37. The band's third full-length project hits a new peak on the Billboard ranking 10 weeks into its resurgence, but decades after it was first released. At the same time, the critically-acclaimed studio effort holds at No. 153 on the Billboard 200, while descending slightly on the Top Alternative Albums roster. On that latter list, OK Computer reached its No. 19 high just last week and now dips two rungs to No. 21. As 'Let Down' Rises, 'Creep' Reaches a New Milestone As 'Let Down' reaches a brand new peak position, another Radiohead classic, 'Creep,' continues to stand out as perhaps the band's most celebrated tune. That cut declines slightly on both of Billboard's global rankings, but it does so as it reaches 100 weeks on the two tallies. That's a first for Radiohead, and it seems that renewed attention being paid to 'Let Down' has benefited more than just one track.
