Forecast: Smoke exits, storms move in
DES MOINES, Iowa — We didn't get as warm as we thought we would Sunday, as smoke aloft knocked a few degrees off our highs. Stronger south winds will kick in on Monday and push temps and dewpoints up, setting us up for Tuesday storms. The weather timeline steps you through the variables in three-hourly increments:
Low's Sunday night will be warmer than the past few, helping set us up for a hotter Monday. As we move into the late afternoon, we'll see the smoke aloft exit east as the jet stream pattern changes.
The Storm Prediction Center and Colorado State's severe weather algorithm have eastern Iowa pegged for stronger storms Tuesday. Wind and hail would be the main threats.
It appears the best window for storm chances Tuesday in central Iowa will come between 3 a.m. and 7 p.m. Predicted rainfall amounts look pretty good!
We have isolated shower chances both Thursday and Saturday in the forecast. Rain chances look to be a little higher next Saturday night and Sunday as things stand on June 1st.

It does appear that we'll enter a wetter pattern by mid-month, though we look to end June a bit above-average in terms of temperature.

Temperatures rise on Tuesday as haze from wildfires clear
(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Quiet and comfortable this morning as we head out and about on this Tuesday. Temperatures have settled into the low 60s in uptown and the 50s in surrounding areas. Winds are light this morning and will stay light through the afternoon as highs make a run for the upper 80s throughout the day. The haze and smoke from the Canadian Wildfires should dissipate a bit throughout the day as temperatures peak above normal. We'll see clouds build overnight as lows dip into the 60s heading into Wednesday. We'll rebound into the mid-80s with increasing clouds on Wednesday, with more humid conditions on deck. Rain and storm chances will increase heading into the second half of the workweek as humidity begins to be felt as well. We'll hold on to the upper 80s through the second half of the work week as well, with above normal temperatures lasting through the weekend. Warm week ahead
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The sunshine continues today with some lingering Canadian wildfire haze. Starting your morning, temperatures are in the upper 50s and lower 60s, but we warm to the mid- to upper 80s by the afternoon. Tonight, temperatures dip back down into the 60s. There is a tropical outlook showing a 10% chance for tropical activity, although it is very low. At this time, all we can expect to see is heavy rainfall in the next five to seven days. Sunny, warm weather will continue through the middle of the week. A high-pressure system will control our weather through Wednesday with sunshine and high temperatures in the 80s. As the high pressure moves offshore, winds will turn to the south and draw moisture northward into the Carolinas. We will see more clouds, and the chance for showers and thunderstorms will return on Thursday and Friday. This moisture will move away on Saturday, leaving behind just a chance for a thunderstorm.
