Kuwait committed to enhancing GCC digital integration

KUWAIT: Acting Director General of the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) Najat Ibrahim affirmed Kuwait's commitment to advancing digital integration among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, with the aim of improving government services, meeting citizens' aspirations, and supporting sustainable development goals. Speaking at the 27th meeting of the GCC Digital Government Executive Committee, hosted by Kuwait on Monday, Ibrahim highlighted the importance of strengthening joint Gulf efforts in the field of digital governance.
The meeting was attended by representatives from ministries and entities concerned with digital government across GCC countries, along with officials from the GCC General Secretariat. Ibrahim noted that the meeting coincides with the 44th anniversary of the GCC's establishment, an occasion that underscores the spirit of Gulf unity and drives efforts to build on past achievements. She praised the GCC General Secretariat for its coordination and support in facilitating the committee's work, describing the gathering as a significant milestone in the region's digital transformation journey.

The committee's agenda included discussions on the future of digital transformation across GCC states, as well as a review of initiatives under the guiding e-government strategy for the period 2024–2030. Members also evaluated the unified framework for digital access and preparations for the sixth session of the Digital Government Award.
Ibrahim added that the committee approved a new initiative to develop a unified Gulf strategy for artificial intelligence. This will include organizing workshops and discussion groups with sectors across the region that have demonstrated success in AI applications, including the development of AI-driven games. — KUNA

The second category covers Gulf citizens and expats with professional qualifications, along with individuals holding valid US, UK, or Schengen visas or residence permits of GCC countries. The third category, which will be launched soon, is intended for other nationalities who can provide proof of financial statement and necessary guarantees. The fourth category covers visitors attending events and activities in Kuwait, with conditions applied based on each specific event. By Fawaz Al-Otaibi BEIRUT, Aug 11 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development's (KFAED) visit to Lebanon aims to follow up on the progress of development projects it is financing there, its acting chief said on Monday. These development projects are highly instrumental in keeping Lebanon's economy on an upward trajectory, Waleed Al-Bahar told KUNA amid a visit to the Lebanese capital Beirut, citing the improvement of infrastructure and basic services as the core goal the KFAED-funded projects. The KFAED acting chief went on to say that he intends on meeting a number of top Lebanese officials in a bid to bolster bilateral economic cooperation, subsequently serving the "best interests" of Kuwait and Beirut, he underlined. On talks with the visiting KFAED acting chief, Lebanon's Finance Minister Yassine Jaber spoke of the need to salvage some development projects that may have been hampered by long-standing civil unrest in Lebanon, hoping that some key projects funded by the Kuwait-based fund would come to fruition shortly. A+ A- Transport 11/08/2025 LOC14:12 11:12 GMT KUWAIT, Aug 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Airways is scheduled to receive a new plane, an Airbus-321, in the end of August and AN A-330-900 aircraft by the yearend, announced the KAC Chairperson Abdulmohsen Al-Fagaan in a statement on Monday. Speaking after the KAC general assembly, Al-Fagaan affirmed the plan to overhaul the national carrier and place it among the top airlines in the region. The board is seeking to develop further the KAC operations to attain better reaps, Al-Fagaan said following the session, attended by all members. It dedicates special concern for responding to remarks and queries by the Audit Bureau, he said, affirming the commitment to full cooperation to settle financial irregularities, revealing that such cases had dropped from 16 to only seven. The latter cases have remained under investigation and the company has spared no effort to take all legal actions in this respect, Al-Fagaan said. He affirmed the approach to attain positive results, offer top services and present innovative solutions to meet the clients' needs. The KAC enjoyed a successful record in 2024, when it had taken delivery of the "Boubyan plane" (an A-330-900) and was designated as top at the global level for quality of onboard meals. It came third in 2024 in the Middle East and Africa as to punctuality (91.13 percent) and came 20th among the top 109 aviation corporations world wise, he added. Also in 2024, the corporation signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), boosted the joint code agreement with Saudi Airlines, developed the partnership with Amadeus company and signed a cooperation agreement with the German aviation company, Flexflight. Proceeding his narration, Al-Fagaan said the company, also in 2024, signed a cooperation protocol with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training in addition to partaking in the 26th Gulf football championship as the official carrier of the championship.
