Elon Musk and Donald Trump's big ugly breakup of bromance: From Epstein files to Tesla stock — a timeline

Donald Trump vs Elon Musk: What started as a 'big, beautiful' bromance between US President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk ended in a public feud that escalated to a point of a possible no return.
The very public spat between Donald Trump and Elon Musk reached its peak on Thursday when the Tesla CEO launched a barrage of attacks on the President on social media.
Here is everything that happened between Donald Trump and Elon Musk since he left the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Elon Musk last week announced his decision to leave the White House and DOGE, citing that his tenure as a special government employee had come to an end. 'As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,' he said in a post on X.
Days later, Trump announced he would organise a press conference with Elon Musk to bid him farewell. Everything between the duo seemed okay at the time, though Musk had previously criticised Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' intended to cut taxes.
Trump was full of praise for Musk. He called Musk 'one of the greatest business leaders and innovators the world has ever produced', seemingly downplaying the rift that was already brewing between them with the Tesla CEO being 'disappointed' with the provisions of the bill.
The rift between the world's most powerful leader and the world's richest person took a public turn on June 3, with Elon Musk blasting Donald Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' of tax breaks and spending cuts as a 'disgusting abomination'.
'I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore,' Musk posted on X. 'This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.'
However, Trump did not lash out like he typically does.
Trump's silence did not stop Musk from backing off. On Thursday, the spat became very public when the Tesla CEO made a series of posts on X, sharing 2013 posts of the President.
'Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate,' Musk claimed.
He continued to make further claims, eventually dropping a bombshell that the Jeffery Epstein files were not released in full because Donald Trump was involved in the case.
Eventually, Donald Trump let slip that he was disappointed in his former adviser, prompting Musk to unleash a flood of insults and taunts.
Trump could hold back no longer. He posted that Musk had been 'wearing thin,' that he had 'asked him to leave' his administration, that the tech titan had 'gone CRAZY.'
After a series of X posts lambasting the President and threatening to decommission a space capsule used to take astronauts and supplies to the International Space Station, Musk agreed that he would not do it.
It was unclear how serious Musk's threat was, but several hours later — in a reply to another X user — he said he wouldn't do it.
This gave way to some people thinking of a possible truce in sight, with Trump's White House aides reportedly arranging to schedule a call with the POTUS and Tesla CEO on Friday.
However, quashing all hopes, a White House official said on Friday that Trump was not interested to talk to Musk, at least today.
The White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that no phone call between Trump and the Tesla CEO was planned for the day. Earlier, a different White House official had said the two were going to talk.
Tesla shares rose on Friday, managing to claw back some steep losses from the previous session when it dropped 14 per cent and lost $150 billion in value, the largest single-day decline in the company's history.

'Supremacist and racist mentality': Iran slams US travel ban; cites 'deep hostility towards Muslims'

Iran on Saturday condemned the US travel ban targeting Iranians and citizens of 11 other mostly Middle Eastern and African countries, calling it a reflection of a "supremacist and racist mentality. " These remarks came following US President Donald Trump 's executive order reinstating broad travel restrictions, citing national security concerns after a recent firebomb attack at a pro-Israel rally in Colorado. It is "a clear sign of the dominance of a supremacist and racist mentality among American policymakers," director general for the Department of Iranian Affairs Abroad at Iran's foreign ministry, Alireza Hashemi Raja said in a statement released by the ministry. He further stated that "US government's decision to ban Iranian nationals, solely based on their religion and nationality, not only reflects deep-seated hostility toward the Iranian people and Muslims but also constitutes a violation of fundamental principles of international law, including the prohibition of discrimination and basic human rights." The US travel restrictions, starting June 9, will apply to citizens of Iran, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. Hashemi-Raja further indicated that, "depriving hundreds of millions of people of the right to travel to another country solely based on their nationality or religion is an example of racial discrimination and systemic racism within the American ruling establishment." The ministry official noted the ban's discriminatory nature would "entail international responsibility for the US government", without providing details. The minister also declared that Iran would take all necessary steps to protect the rights of its citizens against the impact of the US government's discriminatory decision. Diplomatic relations between Iran and the US ended shortly after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, with tensions persisting since. The United States hosts the largest Iranian diaspora globally. Tehran's foreign ministry data shows approximately 1.5 million Iranians resided in the United States in 2020. Trump's directive followed Sunday's incident at the Colorado rally, where officials reported over a dozen injuries. The accused is an Egyptian national who remained after his tourist visa expired.

This new technology promises faster charging and reliable performance, shaping how vehicles function

The automotive industry is adapting to the fast changing technological landscape. The mode of transportation has transformed over the decades, be it in terms of design, features or technology. Now, a Chinese company named CATL has come up with a battery that could change the way people use electric cars. This new battery can charge much faster than the ones most electric cars use today. The idea is to make charging almost as quick as filling petrol in a regular car. With this new battery, they are trying to make electric cars more practical for everyday use. It gives around 323 miles (520 kms) of driving range after just five minutes of charging. That means less waiting at charging stations and more time driving. It also works well in cold conditions, still charging fast even when temperatures are very low. CATL shared this new battery just before a big motor show in Shanghai. The company is known for supplying batteries to big car brands like Tesla, Ford and General Motors. Even in freezing weather, the battery can go from five percent to eighty percent in just fifteen minutes. This is helpful for people who live in cold places where batteries usually charge slowly. Along with this battery, CATL also revealed two more ideas. One is a battery system that combines two different types of cells to offer a very long range of up to 932 miles (1500 kms). The second is a sodium-ion battery. This one is better for the environment and keeps most of its power even when temperatures fall very low. These new battery upgrades can make life easier for people who drive every day. Faster charging means electric cars are more convenient and practical, encouraging more people to choose them instead of petrol vehicles. These batteries also offer strong performance in all seasons, even during very cold weather. For people who drive every day, these upgrades could mean shorter charging times and more reliable performance all year round. Charging quickly makes it easier to own an electric vehicle and gives people one more reason to switch from fuel-powered cars.
