Lenny Kravitz is someone the world looks to for effortless style, so when a new video dropped on Architectural Digest 's YouTube channel featuring his Paris home, the expectations were high. And they were fulfilled, as Kravitz showed off his residence in the city's 16th arrondissement. Now 60, Kravitz has owned the house for decades. He says he fell in love with the city after first coming to Paris to promote his debut album Let Love Rule in 1989.
But the palatial mansion is also special to Kravitz because it was his mother's dream to live in Paris, a dream that wasn't realized in her lifetime. Kravitz's mother, Roxie Roxer, died of breast cancer in 1995 at the age of 66. She was an actress best known as Helen Willis on the classic sitcom The Jeffersons, where she was part of TV's first interracial marriage. In real life, she was married to Lenny's father, TV executive Sy Kravitz, who was also white.
'This place is called Hôtel de Roxie. It's named after my mother, because it was her dream to come live in Paris,' Kravitz told AD. 'She wanted to retire after doing 11 seasons on The Jeffersons , and she never got to do it.'
This is Lenny's second time on AD's 'Open Door' series, featuring celebs showing off their fabulous homes. Hamilton actor Daveed Diggs and his partner Emmy Raver Lampman earned millions of views with their eclectic L.A. home, and Viola Davis and Julian Tennon showed off their traditional but cozy place. Kravitz, who owns real estate in New York, Miami, Paris, Los Angeles, the Bahamas and Brazil, let AD record him at his farm in Brazil in his last video.
His Paris home was once owned by Countess Anne d'Ornano who, once widowed, spent more time at her estate in suburban France, so she decided to sell. Kravitz says he was looking for more of a pied á terre at the time (a bachelor pad, basically) but fell in love with the place when a savvy realtor told him it was something he had to see.
Once married to Lisa Bonet with whom he has a daughter, actress Zoe Kravitz, he's rarely been in a public relationship and hasn't remarried or had any other children. He remains good friends with Bonet, who split from her longtime partner, Jason Momoa, back in 2022. (The couple were officially divorced last year.)
Kravitz dedicated the petit salon, or sitting room, to Roker, with several pictures of her prominently displayed there. He calls it The Roxie Room.
'She was the love of my life. I was a momma's boy,' he says proudly. 'I found a bunch of photos that my father had taken of my mother in the late '60s and got them framed by the same framer that does a lot of framing for the Louvre. I just wanted to have a room where I was surrounded by her image.'
His design studio – because of course, he has one – designed a chandelier named after Roker that hangs in the great room.
His Paris spot also acknowledges his entire family with images of them throughout the space.
'This house continually pays tribute to my ancestors and as you'll see as we walk through the house, there's photographs of them everywhere. All of this photography tells a story throughout the house through Black history, American and African,' Kravitz told AD.
Other highlights include a wood and bronze piano with African carvings he designed with famed piano manufacturer Steinway, and recording studio and club in the basement. Watch the entire video below:

Teyana Taylor Talks Aaron Pierre And Health Issues As Instyle's Latest Cover Star

Source: Kristina Bumphrey / Getty Teyana Taylor is booked and busy, but she took a little of her limited downtime to talk to InStyle and appear as one of their Imagemakers covers. Taylor revealed recently that she's has to have vocal cord surgery, which happened just about the time she was scheduled to drop her album Escape Room on Aug. 22. 'I've been quietly dealing with some vocal challenges for a while now,' Taylor posted on her Instagram Stories. 'And after a lot of back and forth with my doctors, I've been told I need vocal surgery immediately. They found a noncancerous growth on one of my cords that's been messing with my voice and causing real discomfort. Thankfully, we caught it & it's treatable—but it does mean I need to pause and give myself time to fully heal.' Taylor, 34, is on a generational run with a slate of five movie and TV projects on the way with co-stars like Leonard DiCaprio and collaborators like Ryan Murphy, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Kim Kardashian. The first, One Battle After Another with DiCaprio and Sean Penn, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, comes out Sept. 26. All's Fair, a Ryan Murphy legal drama series with Kardashian, Niecy Nash and Sarah Paulson, is headed to Hulu this fall. Escape Room is her first musical project in five years, and the 'visual album's' single, 'Bed of Roses,' included some provocative shots with her rumored boyfriend, British actor Aaron Pierre whose breakthrough role in Netflix's Ruby Ridge propelled him to stardom. We care about your data. See our privacy policy. She told InStyle that she didn't want to talk much about it, but did say, 'I just go with the flow, and I'm trying things a little differently' this time. 'Just protecting my peace and privacy.' She did say that none of the crumbs dropped about their relationship, including photos from a post-Oscar party or footage from his birthday party in June, were an attempt at a 'hard launch' of their relationship. She is a little more forthcoming with Nessa Diab, the Hot 97 personality who is also (as she recently confirmed) Colin Kaepernick's wife. When asked directly if she was dating Pierre, Taylor said again that she wanted to try 'something different.' 'People are praying on your downfall,' she said. 'People are praying on the health that you are building. What me and Aaron have is very healthy. It's very gentle, and it's very soft, and it's very kind, and it's very sweet, and it's very warm, and it's one of the best feelings that I've ever had. And most importantly, it's so safe. And I don't want us to be robbed of that. He's so special to me.' Escape Room is expected to come out on schedule. One of the unique features of the release is spoken word interludes from actors including Taraji P. Henson, Paulson, Jodie Turner-Smith and Kerry Washington. Taylor says that while surgery came just as she was heavily promoting the album's release, sometimes life hands you the break you need. 'It's always easier to go to work when it's with people that you love, cherish, and appreciate, and when it's with people that don't play about you,' she told InStyle. 'I've had a lot of ups and downs within this music industry, like my love-hate relationship with music, different things like that. Escape Room is for people to escape anything .' She added, 'There are a million things that could and will break your heart. Whether it's a relationship, whether it's a business 'ship, whether it's leaving a company, anything that does not serve you, does not see you, appreciate you, value you, you must escape—sometimes even including ourselves. Sometimes we go through these stages where we're just not us. Sometimes you gotta escape back to yourself. Escape back to the best version of you.' Denzel Washington Cooked Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones So Bad Even Stephen A. Smith Was Speechless

Source: Bruce Glikas / Getty The Dallas Cowboys have been so uneventful over the past few years that even Denzel Washington is calling out owner Jerry Jones. Washington was promoting Highest 2 Lowest, the latest Spike Lee joint, on First Take Tuesday morning, and went off about the Cowboys, a team Stephen A. Smith relishes in hating. The New York native starts with love, recalling how he became interested in the team as a kid because they shared a similar style of play with his high school team. We care about your data. See our privacy policy. 'I've been a Cowboys fan since the '60s, he's making it hard for me,' he begins. 'Not to be a fan, because I'll still have a star on the side of my hat. But he's not thinking about us, he's thinking about his pockets.' Spike Lee eggs him on with a laugh, saying, 'Get Jerry Jones on the phone.' Professional sports teams are unlike any other establishment when it comes to determining their success. Usually, it's about money, and since the Cowboys hold the title of the most valuable sports franchise in the world, with a $9 billion valuation, they've already got that on lock. But when it comes to winning, no one takes them seriously since they haven't won a Super Bowl since 1997, which was also the last time they advanced to the NFC championship game. They've also only won four playoff games in the last 25 years, with losses including 2023's Wild Card round, 2022's Divisional Round, and 2021's Wild Card round. Stephen A. Smith has spoken with Jones about the team's on-field success, and Jones just touts the 'recognition, notoriety, and dollars' the team makes. Washington draws a comparison between sports and his world of acting, calling out Jerry Jones. 'There's box office, and then there's Oscars, Jerry. Been a while, huh? You ain't been to the show, you wouldn't know,' Washington says while looking dead into the camera. 'You haven't been to the show, so you don't know what it is to win.' Even the usually talkative Stephen A. Smith admits to being speechless, as Washington says that there's no beef, and his passion comes from being a fan for so long. Washington jumping into the never-ending Cowboys debate is only the latest surprising addition, as last week Nicki Minaj unknowingly got involved when Dez Bryant was name-dropped. See how social media is reacting to Washington's appearance on the sports debate show below. Denzel Washington Cooked Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones So Bad Even Stephen A. Design In The Detail: 9 Songs That Pharrell Williams Is Secretly Featured On

Source: Goedefroit Music / Getty Pharrell Williams has never needed to be front and center to make his presence felt. Over the course of three decades, the Virginia native has mastered the art of leaving his fingerprints on a track, sometimes so subtly that casual listeners might not even realize he's there. Whether he's adding a few background ad-libs, sprinkling in harmonies, or lending his unmistakable production touch, Pharrell knows how to shift the energy of a song without overshadowing the main act. It's part of what makes him one of the most versatile and enduring figures in music. Long before the world knew him as the guy in the mountain hat, Pharrell was quietly shaping the sound of an entire era. As one-half of The Neptunes alongside Chad Hugo, he crafted timeless hits for everyone from Jay-Z and Britney Spears to Justin Timberlake and Snoop Dogg. His work blurred genre lines, effortlessly merging hip hop, R&B, pop, and funk in ways that made his style instantly recognizable; even when his name wasn't in the credits. That same magic has carried into his vocal features, where he often slides on a track like a sonic easter egg that fans have to discover. It's this chameleon-like quality that keeps Pharrell so exciting. Some artists rely on a big rollout or a flashy feature to make noise; Pharrell often does the opposite. He thrives in the background, adding depth and texture to a song in ways that reward close listening. His contributions can be as small as a single 'yeah' in the right spot or as involved as reworking an entire rhythm section. Either way, the result is a track that feels elevated, fresher, and more alive. In honor of his genius and his unmatched knack for sneaking onto records, we've put together a playlist of songs where Pharrell's presence might surprise you. Some you may recognize instantly, others might make you double back and hit replay with a new ear. Either way, they're proof that when Pharrell is in the mix, whether in the spotlight or just behind it, you can bet the song has unparalleled touch! Note: All the songs were produced by Pharrell/The Neptunes and most were co-written or written by him.
