Carolina Panthers wide receiver Hunter Renfrow is continuing to knock off the rust.
The former Pro Bowl pass catcher took the next step towards his comeback on Tuesday, as the Panthers held their first session of organized team activities. Head coach Dave Canales was asked about Renfrow, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2023.
"You see weekly, he just makes these huge strides, just getting his feet under him," Canales replied. "And I can tell too, just having coached wide receivers especially, but he's got a lot in his game. Releases, top-of-the-route setup, avoidance, different things where he can double up stuff at the top of his routes.
"And you can see him kinda working through his inventory, kinda his tool bag—if you will. And it's been really cool just to watch him, as his feet get underneath him and the explosiveness and all the little things show up, it's been really fun to see."
Renfrow missed the 2024 campaign due to his battle with ulcerative colitis. His last down came on Jan. 7, 2024—in the Las Vegas Raiders' 27-14 win over the Denver Broncos.
He agreed to terms on a deal with the Panthers back on April 27.

Rodgers' arrival solves the Steelers' quarterback problems – at least for now – after Russell Wilson and Justin Fields both signed with New York Teams. Now Rodgers will battle Mason Rudolph, who signed a two-year contract in March, for the starting position.
