🚨 Leagues Cup phase one complete as quarter-final matchups confirmed
Here is how it looks heading into the next stage of the competition.

LA Galaxy cruise into knockouts with big win over Santos LagunaThe Galaxy came into the night needing to win by two goals to book their ticket to the knockout rounds, and they did just that with a thumping win over a lousy Santos Laguna.
The quarter-finalists are now confirmed
The standout tie is Tigres vs Inter Miami, but we should be in for some quality matchups across the board!

How to watch Lynx vs. Liberty: Injuries put new stars in the spotlight for WNBA Rivals Week
A premier WNBA Rivals Week showdown begins in Brooklyn. The league-leading Minnesota Lynx visit the defending champion New York Liberty at 12:30 p.m. ET this Sunday. Minnesota arrives without MVP front-runner Napheesa Collier, who sprained her right ankle on Aug. 2 and is expected to miss at least two weeks. Meanwhile, New York counters with its own hole in the marquee: Breanna Stewart is out indefinitely with a right knee bone bruise. Still, there's plenty of reason to tune in to this WNBA Finals rematch. How to watch Minnesota Lynx at New York Liberty Venue: Barclays Center — Brooklyn Time: 12:30 p.m. ET, Sunday TV: ABC Streaming: Fubo (Save $20) Watching in person? Get tickets on StubHub. Live coverage is also available on ESPN+. Without Collier, Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve will stretch Kayla McBride from three and lean on Courtney Williams in the middle third, with Jessica Shepard and Alanna Smith owning the glass. The Lynx also recently acquired DiJonai Carrington from Dallas for Diamond Miller, Karlie Samuelson and a 2027 second-round pick, a defense-minded move that only strengthens their top-ranked unit. The Liberty have won three in a row since halting a four-game slide. Sabrina Ionescu dropped 36 points and 11 rebounds at Connecticut on Aug. 3. Former WNBA Finals MVP Emma Meesseman also chipped in 13 points, two blocks and a steal in her second game as New York followed with an 85-76 win against Dallas, the first of two straight victories over the Wings. The hinge is simple: finish possessions and value the ball. If New York controls the defensive glass and runs McBride off rhythm catch-and-shoots, it tilts home. If Minnesota wins the turnover game and frees Carrington in transition, it travels. This is the first Barclays meeting since last year's Finals and the second of four total matchups between these two this season. The Lynx play three straight against the Liberty from Aug. 10-19, while New York has five total games over that same stretch. Robert Griffin III Called Out For 'Hypocritical' Comment About Shedeur Sanders
Robert Griffin III Called Out For 'Hypocritical' Comment About Shedeur Sanders originally appeared on The Spun. Former ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III should have considered scrubbing his social media activity before commenting on Shedeur Sanders' preseason debut. When the Cleveland Browns named Sanders their starting quarterback for their preseason opener, countless people accused the coaching staff of sabotaging their fifth-round pick. Griffin was also a big believer in that narrative. He accused his former team of setting up Sanders to fail. "Shedeur Sanders is being set up to fail in Cleveland," Griffin said on Aug. 4. "But God's got him showing out even with limited reps." After watching Sanders carve up the Carolina Panthers on Friday night, Griffin completely changed his tune on Cleveland's quarterback situation. He also made it seem like he wasn't worried about the Colorado product's debut. "Many thought Shedeur Sanders would fail after being thrown to the wolves as the starter with minimal first team reps against the Carolina Panthers starters," Griffin said. "BUT GOD saw fit that Shedeur Sanders would come back leading the pack. Faith and hard work always pay off. Perfect Timing." As you'd imagine, NFL fans roasted Griffin for calling out others over something he's guilty of doing. "You said he was being set up to fail…..so you were wrong," one fan replied. "Man just shut up, your opinion not even needed," a second fan said. "Buddy… this is lame, even for you," another fan wrote. "No Olympic swimmer has back stroked faster," Trey Wingo commented. Sanders finished his preseason debut with 138 yards and two touchdowns. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Friday's game was "invaluable" for the rookie quarterback's development. We'll see if Sanders gets to play on Aug. 16 when the Cleveland Browns take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
