Abdoulaye Doucoure hits back at claim over David Moyes and Everton exit - 'Stop this nonsense'

Yahoo22-05-2025

Abdoulaye Doucoure wants to make some things clear before he officially leaves Everton it would seem. The midfielder has taken to social media to dismiss claims over his importance to the team.
On Tuesday, Doucoure confirmed he would be leaving the Blues after five seasons. The club offered their No.16 a new deal, although the 32-year-old is set to take on a new challenge from the 2025-26 season.
Doucoure has been a key player for Everton since his arrival under Carlo Ancelotti, playing in a number of different midfield roles.

In recent years he has operated in more advanced positions and has chipped in with some crucial goals for the club. Doucoure famously scored the winner against AFC Bournemouth in 2023 to secure Everton's Premier League status on the final day of the campaign.
While the goals have dried up in the past couple of seasons, in the current season Doucoure scored the fastest goal ever at Goodison Park in the 4-0 win over Leicester and a stoppage-time winner at Nottingham Forest.
Although he's moving on, Doucoure has dismissed the idea that his impact at Everton has diminished significantly, responding to claims online on Wednesday.
A post suggested David Moyes wants to change the Blues squad from "'moments' players to consistent players". It continued: "Doucoure a key example, shows up for big moments but is anonymous and ineffective most weeks."
Doucoure replied: "I think if I was so ineffective I [would not] have played most of the games I've played for the club as the starter. So stop this nonsense and telling lies to people."
While supporters have frequently debated Doucoure's role this season, what is clear is how much passion he has for Everton.
The midfielder was clearly emotional after being taken off in the win over Southampton on Sunday and could be seen in tears during the post-match celebrations to mark the men's team's final game at Goodison Park.
Those sentiments were echoed in the farewell video he shared on Tuesday to supporters.
"I will miss the fans, I will miss the football club," he said. "I just wanted them to know that I gave everything, every single time in training and in games.
"I was always proud to wear the shirt. I was always proud to play at Goodison Park.
'I gave everything to win as many games as I could. I will just miss the place and I wish them all the best in the new stadium."

Chelsea release 2025-26 away kit

Chelsea have unveiled their away kit for the 2025-26 season. "In the early 1970s and fresh from securing our first FA Cup and European trophy, Blues manager Dave Sexton, himself an artist when it came to the tactical game, introduced a Chelsea away strip coloured as a tribute to Hungary's famous 'Magnificent Magyars' side from two decades earlier, whose extravagant patterns on the pitch had so influenced his own winning football," the club said. Advertisement "Soon, the simple plain red, white and green of that kit evolved into a white shirt with a broad red and green vertical stripe, whose theme is now reimagined in a subtle form 50 years on." The club also confirmed that the shirt will be worn in Club World cup matches against Flamengo and ES Tunis and later this month. Tell us your thoughts on the kit here

Manchester United unveil new home kit with Old Trafford inspiration

Fresh start: Manchester United will be hoping a new kit brings better results next season (Adidas / Manchester United) Manchester United have unveiled their new home kit for the 2025/26 season. The club will be keen to put a miserable campaign behind them, having finished 15th in the Premier League table and lost in the Europa League final to Tottenham. Advertisement It means there will be no European football for United next season, further adding to the difficulty of rebuilding Ruben Amorim's squad. United have, though, already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha and he will be seen in the new kit come pre-season. Adidas have opted for a 'classic design' but with an 'abstract sleeve graphic' inspired by the club's Old Trafford stadium. Different shades of red on the sleeve are said to showcase elements of the pitch, stands and tunnel. Mason Mount in the new Manchester United home kit (Adidas / Manchester United) The shirt has a black and white V-neck collar and three black stripes running down the shoulders, as well as a 'Theatre of Dreams' sign-off on the back of the collar. Advertisement Juergen Rank, Senior Design Director at Adidas said: 'The colour red is fundamental to the club's DNA. 'There have been many different expressions of it over the years and for this season we wanted to do something a little different, using the sleeves as a canvas. 'The abstract graphic stays true to the club's DNA while providing an innovative look at feel to an otherwise classy and classic jersey.' The fan replica of the kit is available to buy for £85, with the on-field version costing £120.

Football transfer rumours: Liverpool to spend £100m on PSG's Bradley Barcola?

It is a wingers special for today's tittle-tattle. Starting with Liverpool's willingness to splash £100m on Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola. Arne Slot has already signed Jeremie Frimpong and is set to add creativity in the form of Florian Wirtz. Naturally, there is not a bottomless pit of cash at Anfield, so they would be open to selling Luis Díaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Núñez to fund the spending. After it was confirmed that Jadon Sancho will not be joining Chelsea permanently, his next move is a hot topic of conversation. Manchester United will be quite eager to earn some cash in exchange for the winger, so the prospect of Aston Villa, Newcastle and Tottenham are considering a potential move for the 25-year-old. On the upside, he does get a few extra weeks off compared to his current teammates, giving him time to send his CV out to clubs. Newcastle and Everton could offer Grealish a route away from the City bench. Nico Williams is another who likes to get chalk on his boots. Clubs queueing up to sign him. Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Chelsea are all eager but Athletic Club want to tie the Spain international down to a new deal to keep him at San Mamés. Bayern seem to be the most eager and the European champion might have given his representatives a nudge and a wink to have a chat with the recently-crowned Bundesliga winners. Supposedly plenty of teams are interested the Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres but no one is yet to make an offer for him, according to club president Frederico Varandas. 'I can guarantee that Viktor Gyökeres will not leave for €60m plus €10m because I never promised that,' Varandas said. 'To this day Sporting has not had an offer for Gyökeres – neither today nor last season.' Advertisement It looks like Manchester City have stolen a march of European rivals to sign Rosenborg teenager Sverre Nypan. The Norwegian was a target for any major club with a pulse, Arsenal and Aston Villa among those batting their eyelids in his direction. Nypan, however, has plumped for the Etihad Stadium as the location to progress his career alongside compatriot Erling Haaland. Trevoh Chalobah is on Napoli's shopping list. The Chelsea defender started last season on loan at Crystal Palace before being called back by Enzo Maresca to boost his centre-back options. Despite starting the triumphant Conference League final and being called up to Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad, Chalobah's future at Stamford Bridge is less than certain and a move to the Serie A champions might be tempting. Djordje Petrovic was not keen on a Club World Cup sojourn to play backup in the Chelsea goalkeeping department, so instead asked to be left out to allow him to work out for what the future holds for him. Leeds could be the answer swirling around the crystal ball. If anyone wants an experienced full-back, then Vladimir Coufal is looking for a new club after his West Ham contract expired. Everton, Wolves and Fulham are those pondering offering him a new home. Sunderland are waiting for offers for midfielder Nectarios Triantis. The Premier League newcomers want around £1.5m in exchange for his services after an impressive season on loan at Hibernian. Fortuna Düsseldorf and MLS clubs are keen on the player who is currently debating where his international future lies, with Australia and Greece vying for his qualities.
