Rahul Gandhi's remarks on U.S. tariffs expose his 'anti-India' mindset: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Mr. Gandhi on Wednesday (July 30, 2025) said U.S. President Donald Trump was right in calling the Indian economy 'dead', and alleged that "everyone but the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister" avoids speaking about it.
The Congress leader also criticised the government for maintaining silence over the 25% tariffs and penalties imposed by the United States, effective from August 1, 2025. Mr. Sarma alleged that over the last seven days, Mr. Gandhi had been ''badly exposed.'' ''Initially, people thought that he was anti-BJP, but now they have realised that Rahul Gandhi is anti-India,', the Chief Minister claimed.

Filmmaker Sudipto Sen won the Best Director award for his film 'The Kerala Story', which also received the award for Best Cinematography. He further said that the conclave was organised with the aim of formulating a comprehensive film policy for the all-round growth and development of Malayalam cinema, as it was imperative to modernise and expand it with the changing times. State Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian, who presided over the event, said that it was decided to hold such a conclave following the recommendations in the Justice Hema Committee report to tackle issues of sexual exploitation, discrimination, wage disparity and unfair working conditions prevalent in the film industry.
