Every place on Earth has a story to tell, says Rishi
Mangaluru, as it is popularly known, has another name, one that's commonly used among the locals there, Mangalapuram,' says Rishi, whose next movie is called Managalapuram. The actor shares that this is the story of the city, its cultural beliefs and more. 'The film's director,
Ranjith Raj Suvarana
, is a Mangalurean, and he believes that the stories of his hometown need to reach a wider audience. Mangaluru is also a place that's very culturally rooted, and a lot of it is unknown to people outside of it,' shares Rishi, who is looking forward to shooting in Mangaluru.
'Culturally-rooted movies seem to be in trend. It is natural for writers and directors to pick up stories that they or others around them have experienced. What has changed now is that such unique stories have given everyone the confidence to back projects with conviction. The audiences are also interested in listening to original and honest stories. People are open to watching and learning about different cultures through cinema. A movie doesn't always have to be commercialised for the sake of it, but it definitely has to be executed well for it to work with audiences everywhere,' points out Rishi. Rishi believes that filmmakers should never take the audience for granted. 'Scripts like these, that are rooted in culture, must be factually correct. As filmmakers, we are here to provide the audience with accurate information, while also leading them on an emotionally invested journey, through cinema,' says Rishi.

Goan bands hit the right note on Mangaluru stage
Mangaluru: There's a new rhythm setting the pace for celebrations in Mangaluru, and it hails directly from Goa. The coastal city's event circuit, from charity galas to ticketed parties and family functions, is increasingly showing a strong preference for Goan bands. The city's stages have seen almost all the top bands of Goa performing live over the years. A few notable names include A26, Black IN White Band, True Blue, Double R, Mark Revlon, Raagas2Riches, Uzo Band and others. Organisers and attendees of these events laud their energetic performances, passion for music and singing, and diverse repertoire, which often resonate deeply with the region's shared Konkani Catholic heritage. This trend sees many Goan groups performing regularly in Mangaluru. However, a stark contrast exists as very few Mangalurean bands secure similar gigs in Goa. Mark Fernandes of Stonebridge Entertainment, one of the event organisers who set the trend of inviting Goan bands in 2019, attributes their success to the quality of song selection, command over playlists, and quality of voice, which is as good as the original. "They don't just play one music genre, but all. Secondly, they also have a good command over Bollywood cover numbers, singing live, which not all bands can do. In total, Goan bands can capture the audience of Mangaluru and perform according to their taste," said Fernandes, adding that close to 20-25 bands from Goa are eagerly waiting to perform in Mangaluru. "They (Goan bands) perform in Mangaluru as it gives them a new platform to get recognised for their talents in the state," he said. Mark also added that earlier, bands originating from Mangaluru did not have many bookings outside the district, but of late, a few bands are able to touch the stages of Goa too. It is a positive sign, and some also perform in clubs in Bengaluru. Besides performing in ticketed events or charity galas, the Goan bands are also able to make inroads into private functions of individuals, be it roce, weddings, or other small events such as birthdays and anniversaries. Those who attend these events summarise that these bands are high in energy and dance-oriented. "Bands are well known for their high-energy performances and make everyone, be it young or old, shake a leg or two," says Laxmi Shenoy, an event organiser as well as a partygoer.

Raj Kapoor's wife Krishna Kapoor once left actor and their home in anger, took Rishi Kapoor and other kids with her after she found out that...
Veteran actor Raj Kapoor, also known as the showman of Hindi cinema, left no stone unturned in entertaining audiences. While his professional life always gained headlines and appreciation, his personal life remained under public scrutiny. Kapoor was known for his habit of drinking alcohol. However, another major revelation about the actor was made by his son Rishi Kapoor when his autobiography came to limelight. In Rishi's autobiography, Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, he disclosed shocking details about his father and his extra-marital affair. Rishi also mentioned how it affected the family dynamics. On several occasions, Raj Kapoor had been linked to many actresses. Reports claim that Raj and his wife Krishna Kapoor had many heated arguments due to these link-up rumors. However, it was Rishi Kapoor's book that confirmed his father's extra-marital affair with Vyjayanthimala, and Nargis, and revealed how his mother Krishna Kapoor reacted. In his biography, Rishi wrote, 'When I was young, my father's name was in the news for his affairs with many actresses. But the memories of the disputes in the house faded with time. When my mother came to know about his extra-marital affair with Sangam co-star Vyjayanthimala, the matter got worse. There were a lot of fights between mummy and papa. This time, Mother was not ready to step back, and she left the house with me. For some time, we stayed in a hotel, and later we had a flat in Chitrakoot where we started living. When papa realized his mistake, things got sorted out (sic).' Rishi also revealed more about his father's relationship with Vyjayanthimala, which caused multiple disruptions in their family. Raj Kapoor's extra-marital affair with his co-star was not Vyjayanthimala, but Nargis, which often made headlines. However, Raj and Nargis' affair never materialized, and later Nargis married Sunil Dutt.
