Narayani Shastri, who has been a part of numerous shows including Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, will soon be seen in an upcoming supernatural thriller drama, Noyontara. Noyontara promises to mesmerize audiences like never before. Narayani will be seen playing dual roles in the show, one of a protagonist and one antagonist. In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, the actress spoke in detail about her upcoming show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi revamp and even disclosed being approached for Bigg Boss. Excerpts from the interview are below:
1- You've been in the industry for over 25 years. Which show was the turning point in your career?
For me, Piya Ka Ghar was a big turning point because it gave me strong visibility. But many people feel it was Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi that made me truly popular. That show was loved by everyone and became a huge success. Both shows helped me grow as an actor. But now my all focus is on Noyontara, my upcoming show.
2- Ektaa Kapoor is bringing back Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Since you were part of the original, how do you feel about this?
It was one of the biggest shows ever on Indian TV. It changed everything when it came out. If it's coming back, I'm sure Ekta (Ektaa Kapoor) will make it just as grand and interesting. She's a genius when it comes to storytelling. I feel proud to have been part of the original and excited to see the new version.
3- There's a buzz around Bigg Boss 19. Have you been approached for it? Would you say yes?
Yes, I have been approached before. But I have mixed feelings. I'm not sure if I would be comfortable in the Bigg Boss house. It's a different kind of show — very intense. As for me, I'll decide if the time and situation are right.
4- In Noyontara, you are seen playing two characters (twins) - the male protagonist's mother and the antagonist. What is easier for you to play and why?
Playing both roles has been smooth for me, but I enjoy the wicked one more. She's unpredictable and exciting. It's fun to play someone who's so different from how we are in real life. The mother is more emotional and loving, but the wicked character lets me try new expressions, strong reactions, and even dark humor. That's always more fun for an actor. Her anger and how she plans things to hurt others are the most negative parts. She reacts very strongly, and sometimes even cruelly. It's tough to show such strong emotions in a way that feels real. But as an actor, I enjoy taking on these challenges. It lets me show a side that is dramatic and intense.
5- What should audiences look out for when they watch the show?
Viewers should watch Noyantara for pure entertainment. There's drama, mystery, emotion, and lots of twists. It's full of surprises and powerful scenes. You won't get bored. It's made to keep you hooked and give you something exciting every day.
Speaking about Noyontara, the supernatural show will premiere on June 9 at 8:30 PM.

Smriti Irani Hopes For Peace And Success For Ektaa Kapoor: 'She Deserves Both'

Last Updated: Smriti Irani and Ekta Kapoor worked together for the iconic show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which also made the former a household name. Smriti Irani and Ektaa Kapoor's friendship is an example for everyone. On Saturday, the actress-turned-politician took to her Instagram handle and penned down a long and sweet note for Ektaa to send her birthday wishes. Smriti cherished the moments she had spent with Ektaa and described her as somebody who prays for others' success. 'That night, we walked — from the quiet lanes of Juhu to the sacred steps of Siddhivinayak. Not in celebration, but in surrender. She had made a silent vow when I was chasing a dream — a prayer not for herself, but for me. And when the dream turned real, when the world clapped — she didn't call to revel in the applause. She reminded me: We owe Bappa our thanks. Gratitude walks before pride in her world," Smriti wrote. 'The world knows her as fierce – a woman of will, words, and unwavering resolve. But I have known her silences; the softness that doesn't seek attention, the care that doesn't need credit. She is the quiet strength behind many journeys, the keeper of promises no one else hears," she added. The actress then hoped for peace and success in Ektaa's life and concluded by saying, 'Today, she turns 50. A milestone many will raise a toast to. But in the hush of this day, I whisper a prayer — May peace wrap itself around her like a shawl on a weary evening. May success find her, not because she chases it, but because she gives so much of herself away. She deserves both. And so much more. Happy Birthday EK @ektarkapoor ❤️." Exclusive! Munawar Faruqui on celebrating Eid with wife and family: It feels special now; says he and wife met "at the right time"

Munawar Faruqui; PC: Tejas Kudtarkar In Junagadh, a young Munawar Faruqui would eagerly await Eid —not just for the celebrations, but for the joy of receiving Eidi from his elders and donning new clothes. Years later, now settled in a posh Mumbai apartment, Munawar's excitement for Eid remains just as vibrant, though the roles have beautifully reversed—he's now the one giving Eidi. As the nation comes alive with festivities, the former Bigg Boss winner sits down with Bombay Times to share his heartfelt reflections on Eid, family, and the traditions that continue to shape his life. 'Eid is the number one festival for me' Eid, for Munawar, is much more than a festival—it's the pinnacle of celebration, a time to bond with family and spread happiness. 'Eid is the most celebrated festival and the number one festival for me. Eid for me is always with the family and distributing food,' Munawar tells us. As a child, Eidi was a treasured part of Eid, a moment to feel valued and excited about new beginnings. 'We would look forward to Eidi which will range from one rupee to ten. And the uncle who would give us ten rupees would be revered the most (laughs). We would aim to collect at least Rs 100-120. All the boys would wear new clothes, and then go to a mela near our village. The next day we would collect more money and go to a waterpark. So, it used to be a two-day festivity. And those were some of the most beautiful days, where we would just be happy,' Munawar recalls. Now, Munawar experiences the joy from the other side of tradition—giving Eidi and spreading happiness himself. 'The tables have turned,' he says, adding, 'And it is beautiful. I feel very blessed that I am able to help or give people Eidi. Eidi is not a few bucks, but it is happiness. Whenever I give Eidi to the younger ones, I see myself in them. It would take me back to my young days.' The festival is also a reminder to be grateful. Munawar, who started his career as a standup comedian, admits he has a lot to be grateful about. 'When I used to go school, I would hop on a friend's cycle. Once his mother taunted me, and since then I started walking to the school. I used to pray to God that I just need a cycle. I would pray that I just need a cycle and I don't want anything else. And when my cycle got repaired, I used to feel I have everything. I was happy with just a cycle, so now everything is a bonus. I am the happiest. I often I sit in my apartment, and it clicks me where I am; I admire everything about life,' the Malaal singer shares. 'Eid ki biryani ka swaad hi alag hai' Munawar Faruqui; PC: Tejas Kudtarkar While Munawar claims he can make anything, and loves cooking, he avoids making anything on Eid. 'I don't experiment on Eid,' he quips. He adds, 'I love eating biryani any day, anywhere. But the biryani that is made on Eid is different. Eid ki biryani ka swaad alag hai, when you eat with your family and it is made in such large portions. I love Sheer khurma, but I prefer it when it is a day old as the mile gets thicker. So, my wife makes fresh Sheer khurma just the way I like it. She keeps the consistency exactly the way I prefer.' 'It was important for both of us to meet at the right time' This is Munawar's second Eid with his wife – makeup artist Mehzabeen Coatwala. Munawar praises his wife's role in organizing Eid, especially taking care of the shopping. 'My wife has taken care of that department really very well of shopping. She is very organized. She takes care of herself and the kids,' he mentions. As the family of four – the two have two children – celebrates Eid this year, Munawar states, 'We were together last year together. And it feels special now. Last two years, I would go to my sister's place for Eid. But this time everyone is going to come to my place for Eid. Now my family is here. So, forty people will be here and we will throw a dawaat.' Talking about finding his true companion, Munawar states it is all about the timing. 'There comes a time, when you get better with relationships, and understanding people. You aren't immature anymore; you don't look for relationships that you aren't sure where they will take you. So, with time, age, and experience, you understand what a life partner is and how important they are. It was important for both of us to meet at the right time. Also, to find your destination, you need to go through the journey. Sometimes the journey can be beautiful, and sometimes it can be bad. However, even the bad ones turn out to be beautiful. Some people find their destination sooner and some later. Hume thoda waqt laga but it is a good ending.
