Irish bar, BBQ haven & hot tub tavern go head-to-head for Pub Shed of the Year… would YOU DIY a back-yard boozer?

A TRIO of incredible back yard boozers are going head-to-head to be named Britain's Pub Shed of the Year.
The DIY man caves have all been built in back garden sheds by proud beer-loving 'sheddies' across the UK.

They include a traditional local-style pub with its own brew room, an Irish-themed bar and a boozer which comes complete with a hot tub inside.
Organisers today revealed this year's finalists after whittling them down from more than one thousand entries.
Glen Gandy, from Willenhall, Wolverhampton, is in the running with his stunning back garden creation called Cognitos, which he built with the help of friends.
It boasts a DJ booth with decks, a Space Invaders arcade machine, juke box, its own beer garden, a hot tub and even a toilet/shower room.
The Cattle Shed, in Brownhills,
It features a pool table, big screen TV, comfortable sofa seating and bar stools, a cosy log burner and a separate room for brewing beer and cider.
The third finalist Chris Brennan built the BrennInn in Burnley, Lancashire, in June 2023 with the help of his wife after their social life "took a hit" following the birth of their daughter.
The spacious wood-panelled interior is decorated with fairy lights and neon bar signs, has a dartboard and pool table as well as a beautiful outdoor seating area.

All three men will now compete to be crowned Ngage Radio's Pub Shed of the Year and the winner will be announced on August 23.
Wolves-mad Glen said he had been planning his bar since Covid lockdown but only started building it in June 2023.
It was finished in April 2025 and they've had some "amazing nights so far".
I'm being forced to tear down my loft conversion - my neighbours call it a 'monstrosity' but I'm going to fight back
He added: "The bar, console, and back bar we built ourselves with the help of friends.
"The bar is always fully stocked has a great sound system with ceiling speakers, power amp, DJ console, juke box, 85 inch TV and arcade machine.
"There is also a hot tub and toilet/shower room and a split aircon unit so it can be used all year round.
"We built an outside BBQ area for the odd occasion we have some sun."
"The bar has two rules - 1. You don't need an invite and 2. Nobody gets out sober."
Kev, a father to three teenagers, said he decided to covert the garage/workshop where he stored his classic VW after buying his kids a pool table and found there was nowhere to put it.
He wanted it to be a space where he could enjoy the "odd beer or two" but also somewhere their kids could invite their friends to.
He said: "As we wanted a real pub feel, we needed a separate entrance from the main pub, and after a few studded walls and a lot of rewiring, we had a feel of how it was going to be.
"After many hours on Pinterest looking for ideas, we had a vision of how we wanted it to look.
"We knew it needed a fully functioning toilet and running hot and cold water for it to be practical, and a fully working bar was a must."
He added: "The recent addition of the brew room off the side of the pub means we can make our own beer and cider for optimum hangovers.
"I'm so happy to be chosen as a finalist and wish all the luck to both other finalists."

Chris said he got the idea of creating BrennInn after seeing a surge in homemade pub sheds during the pandemic

Chris said he got the idea of having his own bar after seeing a surge in homemade pub sheds during the Covid pandemic.
He added: "But I was late to the party when wood prices rocketed so put it on the back burner until later last year and thought me and my wife Abby don't really go out much.
"Having a five-year-old child, your social life in the local boozer and town takes a massive hit."
The couple "bit the bullet" and bought the shed and it was built four days after it arrived a month later.
Chris added: "Then from there Abby has to take all the credit for the design, interior of an Irish theme and then the name of the pub trying to incorporate it into our last name with it's Irish roots."
Two Fat Blokes
and Ngage Radio run the annual competition, now in its fifth year, for back garden publicans to enter the converted Pub Shed of The Year.
Organiser Ashley Turner said: "The humble back garden boozer is being built in record numbers.
"Exact numbers are hard to come by, but experts believe there are over two million pub sheds in the UK, a number only set to grow as the local pubs close at an alarming rate.
"To recognise excellence in the back garden pub shed builds Ngage Radio run an annual competition to find the Pub shed of the year.
"The public are now being asked to vote for their favourite."
The winner will be announced live on Ngage Radio at 8pm on August 23.

DJ Danny Drayton said: " We're so proud to be involved with Pub Shed of the Year again, we have so many loyal listeners form the pub shed community.
"They are really engaged with our station so being able to knock on the door of the winners live on the radio is a wonderful experience."

Irish Love Island star takes swipe at villa mates after being dumped from show

Irish Love Island star Billykiss Azeez has taken a savage swipe at her villa mates after she was dumped from the show. Billykiss' journey came to an abrupt end on Wednesday night when her fellow Islanders chose to send her packing. The Irish content creator has now spoken out following her departure and disclosed what one solid pairing are genuinely like away from the cameras. "My dumping was very interesting. Within the top four was Ty who was getting to know Angel, and Cach who was getting to know me. I feel like that must've been such an awkward and uncomfortable conversation for them," Billykiss confessed. "I'd like Angel and Ty to win. Ty is literally the sweetest person ever and the same goes for Angel. They genuinely really like each other." Billykiss Azeez (Image: ITV/Shutterstock) Taking a veiled swipe at some of the villa's remaining partnerships, she added: "I could see them really blossoming, which can't be said for some of the other couples. But I can see Ty and Angel having longevity." Despite Cach seeming conflicted between Billykiss and Toni, Billykiss hasn't dismissed the possibility of a future with him once the series concludes. "Something could definitely have blossomed into something beautiful with Cach, but at the same time, if we were meant to be together in the villa, I'd still be there," she expressed. "I have so much love and respect for him as a human being. I think we'll still be really good friends on the outside. In terms of a romantic aspect, who knows." Speaking about her Love Island experience, she said: "It wasn't a rollercoaster as such, more of a wave in the way it went up and down. "The festival was really good, Meg and I got a little shout out from Tinie Tempah! Overall I had a very fun experience. "I laughed so much that I cried and those are the moments I'll take home with me. I don't regret anything or any decision I made throughout my journey and everything panned out the way it was supposed to. "It helped me build character and grow and develop as a person, and I have love for everyone who was part of my journey." South Park's Trump episode sparks fears of cancellation among fans

South Park is back, and creators Trey Park and Matt Stone have struck up a new five-year deal with Paramount+, but fans are concerned following the release of a brand new episode overnight. The 27th season of the hit satirical adult cartoon was pushed back following a bidding war between a number of streaming services in recent weeks. The war culminated in a deal with Paramount+ which will see all 26 previous seasons of the cartoon on their service along with 50 new episodes starting from early on Thursday morning Irish time. Pic: Comedy Central In true form of the creators, the premiere episode, Sermon on the Mount, took aim at American President Donald Trump with references to his lawsuit against Paramount as well as the services' cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The episode saw Trump striking up a relationship with series regular Satan, with the pair at one stage in bed together. 'Come on, Satan, you know you can't resist this,' Trump says as he exposes his manhood, prompting the Devil to reply: 'I can't even see anything because it's so small.' Again, the 79-year-old was exposed, with his private area having googly eyes and able to talk. 'I'm Donald J. Trump and I endorse this message!' the penis said. Viewers took to social media in their droves following the premiere episode, with many full of praise for Matt and Trey, while others were quick to point out that Paramount bosses were probably not too happy. Could Rosie O'Donnell run for president?

Could Rosie O'Donnell's name appear on the ballot paper this November? Bookies aren't ruling it out! The comedian and actress has been living in Ireland with her child, Clay, since January, after Donald Trump, with whom she has been in a very public feud, was re-elected for a second term in the 2024 Presidential election. Now, Ladbrokes are saying Rosie could put herself forward for Irish presidency, especially since she is seeking Irish citizenship through descent, which would make her eligible. Rosie O'Donnell. Pic:for ELLE Punters seem to have taken to O'Donnell, who has been outspoken about her love for Ireland. She is currently 10/1 to run in the election in November. Ladbrokes spokesperson Cal Gildart said: 'Rosie O'Donnell has really captured the hearts and minds of the Irish people. 'Her endearing charm has led punters to back her for a run at the presidency. We may see her appearing on a ballot paper in November.' Rosie O'Donnell. Pic: MediaPunch/REX/Shutterstock Speaking on Ireland AM earlier this month, Rosie explained that she feels 'so much safer' in Ireland. She said: 'It's so much safer. In fact, [Clay's] with friends walking places now. And when I was first here, they were telling me when we were looking for places to stay and live, they were like 'oh [it's] a great place because they'll be able to take their back to school.' 'And I was like 'over my dead body, they're not riding a bike to school.' And now they're able to do that. It's just such a different culture and different feeling of safety for Clay as well as me.' So far, only Independent TD Catherine Connolly and Fine Gael's Mairead McGuinness have officially anounced their presidential bid.
