India Today01-05-2025

A few months back, TVS revealed a concept version of a supermoto at the Bharat Mobility Expo. It now seems that the project is quite clearly green-flagged and we can expect TVS to launch this bike soon. The TVS RTS X Supermoto remains true to its concept form by a great deal. The bike features long-travel suspension up front and alloy wheels, too. There is a beaky front mudguard and the headlamp sits right over it. Wide handlebars come in, and so does a small digital instrument panel. Tank shrouds are also visible, and so is a long seat. The rear section is kept tight, and we expect a stylish tail tidy to come in accordance to the rules and regulations. A monoshock takes care of suspension duties at the back. Ground clearance is expected to be around 240mm while the kerb weight will be less than 150kg.
TVS showcased the concept version of the Supermoto at the recently concluded 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo.
advertisementPowering this new Supermoto will be the 299cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor that TVS has developed in-house. The motor produces 34.5bhp and 28.5Nm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. This new engine takes away the dependence of the company on the 312cc BMW engine, which used to power the BMW G 310 GS and the BMW G 310 R, as well as the G 310 RR. This new platform is also expected to spawn the TVS Adventure motorcycle as well as enduros.
At the moment, India has a plethora of Adventure bikes on sale that include the Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM 390 Adventure, as well as the Yezdi Adventure. KTM has also launched the KTM 390 Enduro and is expected to launch the supermoto version called the KTM 390 SMC R soon.advertisementSubscribe to Auto Today Magazine

TVS Motor working on new 450 cc motorcycle platform, shared with BMW and Norton

TVS has confirmed that the 450 platform and technology will be shared with BMW and Norton Check Offers TVS Motor Company is looking to diversify its premium motorcycle product range and will soon bring a new lineup of motorcycles powered by the 450 cc engine. TVS Motor's current Managing Director and soon-to-be Chairman, Sudarshan Venu, confirmed the development in a recent interview with CNBC TV-18. The top boss revealed that the technology and platform sharing will extend between BMW, TVS, and Norton. The 450 cc parallel-twin motor was first showcased on the BMW F 450 GS concept at EICMA 2024, and could soon spawn TVS and Norton products. New 450 cc TVS Motorcycles Coming Soon The upcoming 450 cc twin-cylinder engine is said to be jointly developed by TVS and BMW Motorrad, much like the 310 cc platform that powers the TVS Apache RR 310. Both brands also collaborated on a new EV platform. The new 450 platform is likely to be made in India and will power the production version of the BMW F 450 GS, set to arrive globally later this year. The BMW F 450 GS Concept was first showcased at EICMA 2024 drawing power from a 450 cc parallel-twin motor, which has been co-developed with TVS Meanwhile, the upcoming TVS 450 could be a full-faired motorcycle under the Apache name as the brand's new flagship, possibly called the TVS Apache RR 450. That said, there's no word yet on what the upcoming 450 cc TVS will be. The Indian two-wheeler giant will be moving to the twin-cylinder league, as a result, moving up not the power, performance, and price ladder. The upcoming TVS 450 cc bike will rival the made-in-India Aprilia RS 457 and Tuono 457 in the segment. Plans For Norton Motorcycles TVS previously confirmed plans to bring the Norton brand to India, the British premium motorcycle maker it acquired, towards the end of the year. The same 450 cc parallel-twin motor could power the future Norton offerings, which will help the brand position itself differently. Sudarshan Venu also hinted at different dealerships for Norton and premium TVS products, which should offer a more refined purchase experience to customers. Notably, Hero MotoCorp has implemented something similar with the Premia showrooms, bringing its premium bikes, Vida, and the Harley-Davidson X440 under one roof. Honda already does the same via the Big Wing dealerships. TVS is also developing a new range of motorcycles with the 300 cc RT-XD4 engine that will reportedly power an adventure tourer and supermoto Upcoming EV launches In the EV space, TVS plans to introduce an electric bike at a later date, while a new electric scooter is also said to be in the works. KTM 450 Rally Replica Unveiled Alongside Special Sanders Edition

KTM has taken the covers off the 2025 450 Rally Replica. With this, the brand has also unveiled the 450 Rally Replica Sanders Edition. Both the limited-edition motorcycles are aimed at offering Dakar-level performance for consumers. Among these, the Sanders Edition is relatively rare, with only 5 units to be produced to pay tribute to the 2024 Dakar victory of Daniel Sanders, while the Rally Replica will have a total of 150 units. Being a replica, the bike is a near-identical version of the factory race bike used by the Austrian brand in the Dakar Rally. It is based on a hand-welded frame with laser-cut hydro-formed components and a die-cast aluminium swingarm. For suspension duties, the bike relies on WP Pro with 49 mm WP XACT Pro closed cartridge cone fork at the front, while the rear has a WP XACT fully customisable shock. The frame is constructed around a 450 cc fuel-injected SOHC engine. This is the engine that has led the bike through deserts. It works in conjunction with a six-speed transmission and a hydraulic clutch. To breathe out, the bike gets an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system. To keep the temperature in control, the engine has dual radiators. Storing fuel to feed the engine is a trio of tanks with a total capacity of 34.5 litres. There are a few modifications from last year's version, noticeable at the front where a specially crafted fairing has been added to minimize turbulence and rider fatigue. Additionally, at the front, there is a carbon fiber navigation tower, along with integrated warning lights and brackets for the digital roadbook system. The Sanders Edition of the bike gets all the above-mentioned features with a few unique qualities. The list includes full factory Red Bull livery with a Daniel Sanders sticker kit. This kit includes a signed number plate sticker. There will also be a full factory rim set with Michelin race tyres. The brand is also offering an additional road-biased rim set with homologated street tires.
