Shared driveway row lands neighbours in court charged with assault and damage
A company director throttled his neighbour during a row over a shared driveway and caused damage to their luxury Jaguar, a court has heard. Trevor Hollisey, 72, is accused of grabbing neighbour Neil Ford by the throat for 'ten to 15 seconds' and assaulting his wife, Michelle.
Mr Hollisey, who runs a bathroom and kitchen installation firm, is also alleged to have caused £1,363 worth of damage to Mr Ford's Jaguar F-PACE during the incident last December. He faces two charges of assault and one of criminal damage.
Wife Jennifer Hollisey, 79, also faces two charges of assault relating to the couple next door, as well as causing £3.99 of damage to her neighbour's phone in the incident. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges at Norwich Magistrates' Court last week.
The court was told there was a "very messy history" to the row over the driveway, which the couple share with at least three other properties in the village of Bressingham, in Norfolk. The court heard prosecutor Katherine Newson say that the alleged victims and the defendants had fallen out in a "dispute over access to their driveway".
Declan Gallagher, defending the couple, said it was a "confrontation" as a result of a "long-term dispute" and that "there is a very messy history to this". When magistrates were seeking a date for the trial, Mr Hollisey interjected and told the court they "have several holidays booked this year and next".
The case has been set for a two-day trial at Ipswich Magistrates' Court between March 10 and 11 next year. The couple, of High Road, Bressingham, were given conditional bail and told to have no contact with their neighbours.

Prestatyn man who said his ‘brakes failed' appears in court
Nathan Owen, 32, of The Grove, is charged with dangerous driving, causing a public nuisance, and two counts of fraud by false representation. Owen appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday (August 13) for his first hearing. His case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court, where a plea and trial preparation hearing will take place on Wednesday, September 10. He was granted unconditional bail until then. On March 6, 2024, Merseyside Police was called to help stop a black Jaguar I-PACE car safely on the eastbound carriageway of the M62. This followed the driver of the vehicle – Owen - reporting to 999 that his vehicle was out of control and he could not brake while travelling on the M58/M57 and M62 motorways. Man denies falsely claiming his electric car's brakes had failed on M62
A driver who claimed his electric car accelerated 'on its own' on the motorway has made his first appearance in court charged with fraud. Nathan Owen, 32, from North Wales, called police on 6 March last year, to report his Jaguar I-Pace was speeding out of control and the brakes were not working. Officers intercepted the vehicle, which had travelled along the eastbound carriageways of the M57, M62 and M58 motorways in Merseyside before it was eventually brought to a stop. On Wednesday 13 August, Owen attended Liverpool Magistrates' Court where he indicated not guilty pleas to dangerous driving, intentionally or recklessly causing a public nuisance and two counts of fraud. It is alleged he made a false representation to CA Auto Finance that the Jaguar was faulty and was accelerating on its own with the brakes unresponsive It is also said that he made the same claims to two newspapers, with the intention of causing loss to the Jaguar company or exposing it to risk of loss. Prosecutor Renee Southern told the court that it was the Crown's case that the defendant had 'persistently and dishonestly' claimed the vehicle was defective. She said Owen wanted to 'get rid' of the vehicle and thus avoid further payments totalling £4,426 to the finance company. Police boxed the Jaguar in, which led to motorway closures and substantial delays, the court heard. Owen, of The Grove, was released on unconditional bail to attend a further hearing at Liverpool Crown Court on September 10, when he is expected to enter formal pleas. Previously, he had reportedly said he was on his way home from work on the first day of his job as a children's support worker and feared he would die or kill someone else during the journey on 6 March.
