Spurs explain reasons behind Ange Postecoglou sacking
The Australian won the Europa League with the North London club just over a fortnight ago, ending their 17-year trophy drought.
His departure was confirmed on Friday afternoon.
A Spurs statement read: "Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties.

"Ange joined us from Celtic in the summer of 2023 and oversaw a period of change on the pitch, returning us to the attacking brand of football that has traditionally been associated with the Club, while writing a new chapter in our history by leading us to UEFA Europa League glory in Bilbao last month - an achievement that will live with us all forever.
"We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the Club. Ange will always be remembered as only the third manager in our history to deliver a European trophy, alongside legendary figures Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw.
"However, the Board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the Club for a change to take place. Following a positive start in the 2023/24 Premier League (PL) season, we recorded 78 points from the last 66 PL games. This culminated in our worst-ever PL finish last season. At times there were extenuating circumstances - injuries and then a decision to prioritise our European campaign. Whilst winning the Europa League this season ranks as one of the Club's greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on emotions aligned to this triumph.
"It is crucial that we are able to compete on multiple fronts and believe a change of approach will give us the strongest chance for the coming season and beyond. This has been one of the toughest decisions we have had to make and is not a decision that we have taken lightly, nor one we have rushed to conclude. We have made what we believe is the right decision to give us the best chance of success going forward, not the easy decision.
"We have a talented, young squad and Ange has given us a great platform to build upon. We should like to express our gratitude to him. We wish him well for the future - he will always be welcome back at our home.
"News on the appointment of a new Head Coach will be announced in due course."

Demir Tiknaz sees Celtic transfer 'contact' made with Rio Ave as Besiktas clock ticks on quick flip plan
The Turkish international is on loan from the Istanbul giants and reports in Portugal claim the Hoops are interested Reports in Portugal claim Celtic have "made contact" with Rio Ave over a deal for Demir Tiknaz. A Bola reports that French Ligue 1 outfit Lille are also interested in the Turkish midfielder and that the Premiership champions have joined his list of admirers. However, Rio Ave can only discuss a potential transfer once they've made his loan switch from Besiktas permanent. The option to do that for €5million expires next Tuesday, so the clock is ticking for the Liga Portugal side to try and turn an immediate profit. And it's claimed that they will only consider offers around the €10million (around £8.4m) mark. Tiknaz made 28 appearances for Rio Ave last season, scoring four times and providing two assists. He is currently on international duty with Turkey, who play friendlies against America and Mexico, the latter being played in the early hours of Wednesday morning - after Rio Ave's option expires. Celtic could of course approach Besiktas directly should that pass without the Portuguese club exercising their option, but their apparent willingness to cash in quick could make a deal easier if the signs there first. We asked for your thoughts on who you want to see succeed the sacked Ange Postecoglou at are some of your comments:Josh: I am not enthused by Thomas Frank as a potential manager, but who knows? Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho didn't get us anywhere and there is a dearth of top-class managers anyway. I would try for Oliver Glasner but I'm not at all confident that Mr Levy and co will make the right Frank because he has managed to find a system that suits his players at Brentford and if the system doesn't work he switches it up. As much as I love him, Ange almost never did Glasner plus at least three of his players at Crystal Palace would be my choice. The decision to sack Ange leaves me bewildered however. What exactly is the game about?Stan: It's Poch all day, for me, but he's not available until after World Cup, so I would plump for Frank. He's steady, has a track record of bringing through and improving young talent, has extensive Premier League experience (which Ange lacked), and is a tough I have two names in mind to replace Postecoglou that I would love - Glasner and Pottechino. Glasner is the dream. After his season at Palace think about what he could do at Spurs. Although Pochettino is less likely, it would be amazing for him to come back and get what he deserved in his last season here - but this is very unlikely as the 2026 World Cup and he is the USA manager!Anff: Andoni Iraola would be my first choice, then Frank a close second. However, I can't see either joining because they are both mid-project at their current Davide Ancelloti, for me.
