Thief Steals Iconic Orange County Surf Shop Owner's Car

Yahoo30-03-2025

On Saturday, a crime was committed in broad daylight, outside a surf shop in Orange County, CA, right off Pacific Coast Highway. The crime? Grand theft auto.
TK Brimer, longtime owner of the iconic and beloved Frog House surf shop, had his car stolen in the middle of the day, right in front of the shop. Luckily, security cameras caught the culprit. At least, his mug, moments before the theft…the car, however, still appears to be missing. Now, the search is on.
Posting an image of the thief and a description of the car, Frog House wrote on social media:
'Anybody know this thief? He just stole TK's car at 1:22 off PCH and from our cameras looks like he was headed towards Huntington but he could have gone anywhere. White 2004 Volvo V70. Wiley Coyote sticker on passenger side. PLEASE REPOST LET'S GET THIS TWEAKER!'Matt Biolos, the legacy surfboard shaper currently embroiled in a legal battle with superstar songstress Lady Gaga over his 'Mayhem' logo, facetiously commented: 'He works for Gaga.'
Back in 1977, after years of working at the shop, TK bought the place. And ever since its beginning, the Frog House has been an institution in the OC surf scene and, in today's surfing landscape, a last bastion of brick-and-mortar surf shops in a time of fluctuation in the industry writ large.
Speaking with the OC Public Library a few years back, TK said:
'If I hadn't owned this property, I probably wouldn't be in business today, because I'm surrounded by big box retailers on both sides of me here, who have a whole lot better of an inventory than I do. They'd probably put me out of business. But my overhead is low, and I can survive on less volume than they do.'
Expounding further on the current state of surfing and the industry, TK added:
'Surf culture is suffering. It's not completely lost. It's still wonderful. For a kid to start in 2019, and just begin surfing, and never get a taste of the true surf culture that I got to experience, is a shame. But he's still going to have an amazing time, an amazing life ahead of him. It's still positive.'
Legend. Let's help find his whip.

Brazilian police arrest two over alleged bomb plot targeting Lady Gaga concert

More than 2 million Lady Gaga fans rocked up at the Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night to join the singer in what was the largest show of her career as of yet, and it was free. Meanwhile, authorities arrested two individuals in connection with the alleged plot — a man, identified as the group's leader, in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul on charges of illegal weapons possession, and a teenager in Rio on charges relating to child pornography. Police did not provide further details about their specific involvement in the plot or how the group came to focus on Lady Gaga's concert. Rio de Janeiro's state police and Brazil's Ministry of Justice outlined what they described as a plot involving a group that spread hate speech against the LGBTQ+ community and others, and had intended to set off improvised explosive devices at the event. On Sunday, a spokesperson for Lady Gaga said the pop star and her team 'learned about this alleged threat via media reports this morning. Prior to and during the show, there were no known safety concerns, nor any communication from the police or authorities to Lady Gaga regarding any potential risks.' The Mother Monster, as she is known, kicked off the concert at around 10:10 pm local time with her 2011 song 'Bloody Mary'. Cries of joy rose from the tightly packed fans who sang and danced shoulder to shoulder on the vast stretch of sand. Lady Gaga performed her classic hits, including 'Poker Face' and 'Alejandro,' switching between an array of dresses, including one with the colours of the Brazilian flag. Similar concerts are scheduled to take place every year in May at least until 2028.

Lady Gaga's 2.1 million-strong Rio concert targeted for bomb attack by hate group posing as her ‘Little Monsters' fans, Brazilian police say

Lady Gaga's record-breaking concert in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday was targeted with a bomb plot by a hate group posing as 'Little Monsters' fans, who planned to attack with IEDs and Molotov cocktails, Brazilian police revealed. The plotters were organizing coordinated bombings and trying to recruit young Brazilians to carry out carnage at the event, which drew 2.1 million people to the world-famous Copacabana Beach, police in Rio said in a statement. The recruiters falsely identified themselves as members of Gaga's global fan base, known as 'Little Monsters,' as a way to lure fans into 'networks with violent and self-destructive content,' the Brazilian Justice Ministry said. Rio state police intelligence uncovered digital networks that encouraged violent behavior used coded language and extremist symbols to communicate their vile message, authorities said. The plotters aimed to radicalize teenagers and promoted self-harm, violent content and hate speech, including against the LGBT community, the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro state said. They planned to use the bombing to gain notoriety on social networks, authorities said. A man described as the leader of the group was arrested in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul for illegal possession of a firearm, while a teenager in Rio was arrested on child pornography charges, police said. Over a dozen search and seizure warrants were carried out in the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo, authorities said. The raids were carried out quietly just hours before Gaga's performance so as to avoid 'panic or distortion of information,' police said. There was no impact on those attending the free concert, the Justice Ministry said. Gaga's free performance as part of her 'Mayhem' tour was the biggest audience for a solo female artist in history, beating the record previously held by Madonna, who drew a crowd of 1.6 million. 'It's a great honor to be asked to sing for Rio — for my whole career the fans in Brazil have been part of the lifeblood of the Little Monsters,' she wrote in an Instagram post announcing the show last month. Saturday's show was her first in Brazil in 12 years after she was forced to cancel a show in Rio years prior due to an injury.
