Police bust 'School Kids Gang' for sexual exploitation, selling nudes online

KUALA LUMPUR - The Royal Malaysia Police has dismantled a group known as Geng Budak Sekolah (School Kids Gang), allegedly involved in sexual crimes, including a disturbing case of a 12-year-old girl believed to have operated a website to sell explicit photos of herself, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail revealed that the girl jointly managed the website with four of her peers, and the group had also created a WhatsApp group with as many as 762 members.
"Each of them took photos of different parts of their bodies and sold them online. The girl dropped out of school because her income far exceeded that of her parents.
"In this particular case, enforcement action was taken under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, with input and coordination from various other agencies,' he said in reply to Sabri Azit (PN-Jerai) during Question Time. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. Photo by Bernama
Sabri had wanted to know the government's efforts to address the growing issue of sexual misconduct, as well as 'swinger' crimes involving public servants and university students, and whether existing laws are sufficient to combat online sexual exploitation.
Saifuddin explained that swinger activities are tackled under D7 (PDRM' Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division), but the case involving school children falls under D11 (Sexual, Women and Child Investigations Division) at Bukit Aman.
Addressing the rising trend of so-called 'swinger' crimes, which involve individuals or couples willingly exchanging partners for sexual activity, Saifuddin noted that there are currently five legal provisions to act against such crimes.
They are the Penal Code, the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, the Film Censorship Act 2002, and various state-level syariah enactments, all of which facilitate joint enforcement between police and local religious authorities.
He said that in August 2024, D7 successfully infiltrated and identified a website promoting swinger activities, which then led to a raid on a luxury condominium in Kuala Lumpur.
"Among those arrested were students from both public and private universities, civil servants, and foreign nationals. Charges have since been filed under the Penal Code, and the case is now in court,' he added. - BERNAMA

Charged for false Zara info
The accused: Siti Hajar Aflah arriving at the Magistrate's Court in Sepang. — Bernama SEPANG: A secondary school English teacher was charged in the Magistrate's Court here with causing public alarm by spreading unverified information regarding the death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir. Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin, 39, pleaded not guilty before magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani yesterday. She is alleged to have spread false statements, claiming that Zara Qairina died after being put in a washing machine, on her TikTok account 'SHA_Abrienda' at 1.20pm on Aug 6, with the intent to cause alarm to the public. The statement was seen and heard by a police officer at the KL International Airport Terminal 2, Bernama reported. Siti Hajar Aflah was charged under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, which provides imprisonment for up to two years, or a fine or both, upon conviction. Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Nadia Mohd Izhar offered bail at RM10,000 in one surety. Lawyer Mohamad Zaiful Bahrin Kamde applied for a lower bail of RM3,000 on grounds that his client is a single mother with three school-going children and has to support her parents. 'My client is a teacher at the Education Ministry with an income of RM5,000 a month. 'She also supports three children aged 10, 11 and 12, and parents aged 65 and 66, with the mother suffering a mild stroke,' he said. Mohamad Zaiful added that she cooperated with the authorities during the investigation and was not a flight risk. The court granted bail of RM4,000 with one surety and set Oct 9 for mention. Zara Qairina, 13, was rushed to hospital after being found unconscious in a drain near the hostel of SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar on July 16. She died the following day.

Crowd of supporters shows up at Bukit Mertajam court in solidarity with Umno Youth chief
BUKIT MERTAJAM: A group of supporters have turned up with banners at the court complex here to show solidarity with Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh. A group of more than 20 people could be seen standing outside the Bukit Mertajam court with large banners stating "Solidarity with Dr Akmal Saleh" as they stand forming a wall to the side of the courthouse entrance. Dr Muhamad Akmal will be charged under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code along with two others at the Bukit Mertajam court here on Friday (Aug 22). It was reported on Tuesday (Aug 19) night that the AGC had said it would charge Dr Muhamad Akmal over a Facebook post under the name "Akmal Saleh". Also to be charged are Muhammad Hilman Idham over a TikTok post under the " account; Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin over a statement on the "SHA_Abrienda" TikTok account and Chandrasegaran Subramaniam over a statement made on TikTok under the "cikguchandra3" account. The AGC said based on the evidence and statements obtained, charges would be filed against Dr Muhamad Akmal, Muhammad Hilman and Siti Hajar under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code. Meanwhile, it said Chandrasegaran would be charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988. All charges will be filed in a Magistrate's Court. The AGC added that the statements made by these individuals were found to have threatened public order or constituted improper use of network facilities or network services. Under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, a person may be charged with making statements likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public. If convicted, a person can be punished with up to two years imprisonment, a fine, or both.
