'No Son Should Be Like Him...': Gangster Romil Vohra's Father Weeps Over His Funeral Pyre
Last Updated:
Gangster Romil Vohra's parents, Kapil Vohra and Risha Vohra, who are themselves lodged in jail in connection with ongoing cases, were granted permission to attend the cremation
Five days after he was gunned down in a police encounter, the final rites of dreaded gangster Romil Vohra were performed on Friday morning under tight security in Haryana's Yamunanagar district. Vohra, once a close associate of the notorious Kala Rana gang and a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 3 lakh, was cremated in the Kansapur area.
The scene at the crematorium was emotionally charged as Romil's father, Kapil Vohra, conducted the mukhaagni (lighting of the pyre) in the presence of a strong police deployment. His grief was palpable as he tearfully said, 'No son should become a gangster… the condition we are going through should not happen to anyone else."
Romil's parents, Kapil Vohra and Risha Vohra, who are themselves lodged in jail in connection with ongoing cases, were granted permission to attend the cremation. Both were seen breaking down repeatedly. 'We have nothing left. We are ruined," said Kapil, his voice choking with emotion. Risha, too, sobbed uncontrollably, adding that she last saw her son on November 22, the day he left home saying he was going to college.
Romil Vohra had been on the police radar for months, wanted in several heinous cases including the Khedi Lakhha triple murder, the Shantanu murder case, and a firing incident at Bilaspur's immigration centre. The police finally tracked him down in Gurugram, where he was killed in a police encounter on June 23.
Meanwhile, district officials have confirmed that preparations are underway to demolish Romil's house, as part of a larger crackdown on assets linked to organised crime.

Madhya Pradesh CM's convoy comes to a grinding halt after cars are refuelled with ‘water-mixed' diesel
According to officials, when the drivers switched on the ignition after refuelling, a few vehicles stopped at the petrol station itself, while a few others stopped over the next 500 metres. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was on his way to Ratlam for an event on Friday. The vehicles in the convoy—mostly Toyota Innovas—stopped at Shakti Fueling station located near Dosigaon village on the Indore-Mhow road about 10 kilometers short of the Ratlam collectorate. These cars were carrying the chief minister's staff. Bhopal: There was major embarrassment for Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, when on Thursday night, 19 cars in his convoy suddenly came to a halt—because they had been re-fuelled with allegedly adulterated diesel. Private vehicles were quickly arranged for the officials who were in the cars that had broken down, while officials from the Food and Civil Supplies department were rushed to the spot to investigate the incident. A press note issued by the district administration stated, 'Due to the heavy rain in the district, water seeped into the diesel tank of the petrol pump. Subsequently the diesel filled in the vehicles had water in it, which led to the vehicles coming to an abrupt halt.' Officials inspected the density of the fuel at the pump. About 5,995 liters of petrol and 10,675 liters of diesel have been sealed. Authorities from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) which has a depot at Ratlam rushed to the spot and took three samples of diesel from the petrol pump. The petrol pump has been sealed for now, reports of tests on the samples are still awaited. A case has also been registered under section 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act 1955 against the owner of the petrol pump who has been identified as Shanti Bundela and her husband Hemraj Bundela. Both are residents of Indore. (Edited by Viny Mishra) Also read: With amassed assets worth Rs 500-700 cr, how 'corrupt' ex-RTO constable has sparked political row in MP
