Hours after wanted gangster Romil Vohra was gunned down in a joint operation by the Delhi and Haryana Police in South Delhi on Tuesday, a purported social media post emerged claiming that the encounter was fake and that the death would be avenged. Delhi Police officers said they are aware of the post and are probing its authenticity. A senior police officer said the post, uploaded on Instagram, is being taken seriously. 'If required, proper legal action will be taken, including registering an FIR for threatening police officers,' the officer said. On Instagram, a profile named bhanu_rana61 stated, 'Aj jo hamare bhai sath, Romil Vohra ke sath Dilli mein police walon ne jo fake encounter kiya hai to iska badla jaroor lenge. According to a Delhi Police officer, alleged gangster Virender Pratap alias Kala Rana used to operate in collaboration with the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate at Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar in Haryana. For the past few months, his younger brother, Surya Pratap alias Noni Rana – suspected to be based in Canada – has been running the gang from abroad, following his extradition to India from Bangkok in 2022. The Rana gang is allegedly involved in multiple cases of murder and extortion, targeting businessmen and builders in Haryana, the officer said. He further said that Rana was involved in the daring escape of gangster Kuleep Mann alias Fajja from East Delhi's GTB Hospital in March 2021. Fajja, a member of the Gogi gang, was later killed in a shootout in Rohini. 'Bhanu Rana is a close associate of the Kala Rana and Noni Rana group. He went abroad along with Noni a few years ago and has been operating as a messenger for the Rana gang,' the officer added.

Wanted Gangster Romil Vohra Killed In Police Encounter At Delhi-Haryana Border
New Delhi: A wanted criminal linked to multiple murders in Haryana and arms cases in Delhi was shot dead near the Delhi-Haryana border early Tuesday morning, an official said. The dead has been identified as Romil Vohra, a resident of Yamunanagar in Haryana. He was wanted in over eight cases including a triple murder in Yamunanagar and another murder case in Kurukshetra. Pramod Singh Kushwah, Additional CP (Special Cell) said Romil was also wanted in an Arms-Act case registered by Delhi Police's Special Cell. "The killings in Haryana were allegedly ordered by gangster Virender Pratap alias Kala Rana, who was recently extradited from Bangkok and his brother Surya Pratap alias Noni Rana, who is currently based abroad," he said. Acting on inputs received from Haryana STF about Romil's possible movement in Delhi to carry out another crime, a joint team of the STF and Special Cell laid a trap near the Kishangarh police Delhi-Haryana border. "Early this morning, Romil was intercepted by the joint team near the Delhi-Haryana border. During the exchange of fire, one sub-inspector each from Delhi and Haryana police suffered injuries. Romil was also hit by bullets," said the Additional CP. All were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared Romil dead. Authorities said a reward of Rs 3 lakh had been declared on Romil by the Haryana police. Standard legal procedures related to police encounter deaths are being followed, officials said.

Wanted Gangster Romil Vohra Injured In Police Encounter At Delhi-Haryana Border
New Delhi: A wanted criminal linked to multiple murders in Haryana and arms cases in Delhi was injured in an encounter with the Delhi Police near the Delhi-Haryana border early Tuesday, an official said. Two Special Cell officers were also injured in the encounter. The official said the criminal Romil Vohra, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh announced by the Haryana government, is a known shooter of the notorious Kala Rana-Noni Rana gang, he said. "Vohra opened fire on a joint team of the Counter Intelligence Unit of Delhi Police's Special Cell and Haryana Police near Dera Mandi when they attempted to apprehend him around dawn. In retaliatory firing by police, Vohra and two Special Cell officers were injured," a senior police officer added. The injured officers have been identified as Sub-Inspectors Pravin and Rohan, who sustained bullet injuries during the exchange. All three injured have been rushed to a hospital and are currently under medical observation. "A specific input was received from Haryana Police about the presence of wanted gangster Romil Vohra near the Delhi-Haryana border. Acting on the tip-off, a joint checking operation was conducted during the intervening night of June 23 and 24," the officer added. Vohra was identified by an informer, and as the police teams tried to apprehend him, he opened fire. Police said Vohra was a key operative in several high-profile criminal cases, including a recent murder n Kurukshetra and a triple murder case in Yamunanagar. He is also wanted in a case registered under the Arms Act in Delhi. A case under appropriate sections is being registered, and further investigation is underway, including recovery of the firearm used and tracing any accomplices who may have been in the area.
