A former Virgin Atlantic flight attendant has revealed what really goes down when passengers try to get it on mid-flight, and let's just say, it's not as private or glamorous as the movies make it seem.
According to the Daily Mail , in a candid Q&A with LadBible on YouTube, Mandy Smith, who spent over 12 years working in the skies, shared the awkward truth about the so-called 'mile high club' and how airlines deal with it.
As per Smith, flight crews are very aware of what's going on behind closed lavatory doors, so you're not as sneaky as you think.
Smith said in the YouTube interview that airline staff are aware of attempts to join the mile high club, claiming that the act happens on 'one in 20, or 30 flights'.
She said that cabin crews are trained to spot the signs when passengers are about to get frisky, especially when on their way to use the bathroom.
And yes, flight attendants can open those bathroom doors. Even if they're locked.
'We can take those doors off, you know. Even though you've locked it, we can open them. And we can take the whole door.' Smith said.
'But no. I have stopped people, knocked on the door, and just said, 'Excuse me, can you come out? ' kind of thing. Because I kind of know what you're doing.' the former flight attendant added.
Despite this, Smith revealed that there is a little wiggle room for your 'activities' depending on the flight.
On night flights, when there are no kids around, sometimes the flight attendants might just let it slide.
