East tennis women aim to consolidate promotion
The vastly experienced Mhairi Beattie and Sarah McFadyen will spearhead a second successive promotion bid backed up by club mates Heather Croll and Eve Vrhunec.
Captaining the team will be Ama Nisbet with Shaylan Holt also expected to give a strong lead.
Completing the squad will be teenagers Hanna Augustynska, pictured left below, and Aadya Iver Chadalawada who will be drawing on the experience gained from a debut campaign in 2024 and whose performances could hold the key having excelled on the junior circuit recently.
In the East group will be Sussex, Essex, North Wales, Buckinghamshire and Lancashire and the primary aim will be to consolidate having reached Division Four a few years ago only to be instantly relegated.
*Edinburgh's Jacob Fearnley has withdrawn from next week's ATP event in Washington seeking some extra rest building up to the US Open in late August.
It has been a hectic year for Jacob having shot through the world rankings to occupy a slot within the top 60 and sources say his absence next week is not injury related. Jacob is expected to pick up on his career in the subsequent Toronto tournament.

Hearts injury news pre-Aberdeen: Four players out + five doubts for Scottish Premiership curtain-raiser
The opening weekend of the 2025/26 Scottish Premiership season will be closed out by Hearts and Aberdeen at Tynecastle on Monday night - but there are injury concerns for both managers. The Jambos have been in stellar form under new manager Derek McInnes so far this summer, racking up four straight wins over lower league opposition in the Premier Sports Cup by scoring four goals in each game. The Dons will make the journey down to the capital from the North East having played fewer games than their opponents over the course of pre-season; just two in total. Last season's Scottish Cup winners lost 3-1 at home to EFL Championship side Ipswich Town last weekend, while Hearts thrashed newly-promoted Premier League outfit Sunderland 3-0 in Craig Gordon's testimonial match. Below is the latest injury news from both camps ahead of Monday's clash in Gorgie: 1 . Beni Baningime (Hearts): DOUBT Midfielder as "a bit more to do" on the comeback trail from a heavy knock to his knee. Will be back doing some light running over the weekend. | SNS Group Photo Sales 2 . Jamie McCart (Hearts): OUT Remains sidelined with a knee problem sustained earlier this month that doesn't require an operation. Still a while before the defender is back in contention | SNS Group Photo Sales 3 . Sivert Heltne Nilsen (Aberdeen): DOUBT Norwegian midfielder is touch and go after missing recent pre-season friendly due to an eye injury | SNS Group Photo Sales 4 . Calem Nieuwenhof (Hearts: DOUBT Should return to full training on Saturday after recovering from a hamstring issue picked up against Sunderland. Coach Carl urges Crusaders' fans to turn out in force
Colwyn Bay's Stadiwm CSM will play host to the top-two League One meeting between leaders North Wales and Swinton Lions. If everything goes their way, it will certainly be a day to remember for the Crusaders. Should Workington Town lose out at home to Keighley Cougars, a triumph for North Wales would see them crowned as League One champions for the season. Head coach Forster told CruCast: 'We're trying, we really are and we just want the fans' support. 'I think... the next two Sundays are potentially two cup finals. It can actually be won on Sunday if we do what we need to do and Keighley beat Workington. 'So, you know, we could be in a party atmosphere come Sunday, or it's next week at Rochdale. 'But, I think if you look back at when we went to Doncaster in that cup final, it felt like a home game. 'So, I just urge everyone to come out, support the boys, you know. Sunday, we could achieve what we've wanted to achieve for the last three years, which would be massive for the club and I think we should all be there to enjoy it together and, if it's not this week, I think we've just got to build some momentum and, you know, get as much support as we can and hopefully bring that trophy home.' It's been some campaign already for the Crusaders, with 12 wins from their 13 matches. However, their solitary loss did come away against Sunday's visitors Swinton back in early June. The Lions came roaring back from a 16-6 interval deficit to record a terrific 26-20 triumph. Sam Wilde, Pat Ah Van and Ollie Brookes scored North Wales' tries on the day, with Jamie Dallimore kicking the remainder of the points. Reflecting on that match, Forster admitted: 'I felt when we played them at their place we let emotions take over, a few ex-Swinton lads in our side probably over-played and as a team we just went away from what we do well. 'Swinton have also added some more quality since then, so we'll be looking at their last few games and we're ready for a very physical game.' With Jake Spedding and Jordan Case both returning from injury last weekend, coupled with the first appearance of the season for Jamie Jenkins and reserve player Kian Fishwick being brought into the fold, Forster admitted he's got a selection headache this week. 'The lads who came in last week did really well, we knew that during the run-in we'd need every member of the squad so last week gave me an opportunity to test a few different combinations and also get game time into lads who we'll need over the next six to seven weeks,' he said. 'They did really well, and they've certainly given me a headache when it comes to choosing the squad on Friday.' Elsewhere on Sunday, Dewsbury Rams travel to Newcastle Thunder and Rochdale Hornets welcome Whitehaven.
