Craven County Schools celebrated Teacher of the Year with red carpet gala, new car

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) — Tuesday was Teacher Appreciation Day and Craven County Schools took part by honoring those in the school system with a red carpet gala and a new car.
Teachers and staff walked past a brand new Toyota Camry at the entrance, which is now in the hands of this years Teacher of the Year Maggie Johnson. 'I think I'm still in a little bit of shock. I wasn't expecting it. I am not a person that likes the limelight in any way, shape or form,' Jackson said. 'But I'm very excited and I look forward to hopefully fulfilling my role to the best of my ability as teacher ambassador for Craven County.'
Jackson also said that her students are a big part of her being selected among the many candidates for this honor. For more information, click on the video above.
