Wrexham's value could rise to £150m following their promotion to the Championship, according to football finance expert Kieran Maguire.That would represent a valuation increase of 7,400% since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club for around £2m in 2021.At the time, the club were in the fifth-tier National League - but Saturday's 3-0 win over Charlton secured a third successive promotion. It means they will start next season in the Championship - playing at that level for the first time since 1982 - with their eyes set on a Premier League spot.According to Bloomberg, Wrexham were valued at around £100m in March 2025 before the club's latest financial figures were released and promotion was confirmed."I suspect promotion was factored into the original valuation to a degree, but with the brand connection to the owners and now being 46 games away from the Premier League, that could add on another 50% to the value," Maguire told BBC Sport."Ipswich were valued at £100m in February 2024 (before their promotion to the Premier League that May) so a good start to the season could push Wrexham above that by 50% or more due to the Ryan and Rob factor."
TV payments, sponsorship deals & USA sales
Reaching the second tier for only the second time in the club's history means access to more revenue.TV payments will rise, and it is likely so too will the value of sponsorship deals.Wrexham have also made appointments behind the scenes with the aim of increasing the club's financial power.Michael Williamson, who has held roles with Inter Milan and DC United, was named the club's chief executive in May 2024.And Kaleen Allyn became an executive director in January. She and her father Eric Allyn - whose entrepreneurial family sold the Welch Allyn medical diagnostic business for more than $2bn in 2015 - have become minority shareholders with a stake thought to be between 10-15%.The US TV-produced documentary Welcome To Wrexham has played a major part in raising the club's global profile since it began in 2022.Wrexham do not earn money directly from the show but its popularity has been significant in helping improving club revenue streams.And there is no sign of the global interest waning, with McElhenney being vocal about wanting to increase the scope to sell Wrexham shirts in the USA - as the club have had more matches screened there than any other EFL side.
Transfer records, rising wages and redevelopment
Wrexham's revenue for the 2023-24 financial year stood at £26.7m, when they were in League Two - a 155% rise from the previous year's £10.5m, which the club believe is a record for a League Two side.Before the Hollywood takeover, Wrexham's non-league revenue was recorded at £1.148m.As with any club, the biggest outgoing was wages - of £11m - which explains why Wrexham still posted a loss of £2.72m, albeit lower than the previous year's £5.11m.Next year's accounts will measure their League One campaign, during which the club's transfer record has been broken on a number of occasions and the wage bill has risen.Competing in the Championship would almost certainly mean spending more on the squad - and there is also the cost of ground development to factor in: The club are planning to build a new stand at the Kop end of their Stok Cae Ras home next season, and capacity will be limited while construction takes place.So there will be challenges ahead. "He was a leader," Ward told the Undr The Cosh podcast. "But, when I joined the club, Speedo didn't play. He was still a player, but he was injured. He'd kind of transitioned onto the coaching staff. "So, at that point, we knew at some point he was going to be the first team manager. He was a natural leader, wasn't he? From all the clubs that he had captained, to being in the changing room. "Actually, when he became the manager, he turned around to me, because I didn't have an assist bonus, and he said to me, 'I see you don't have an assist bonus. So, every time you set a goal up, I'm gonna give you £250 of my own money.' "That kind of tells you what kind of guy he was. Next game, we played Derby away. Put two on a plate for Ched Evans, misses them both. "I was having a baby at the time, and I was thinking, 'That'd get me a f*****g pushchair if he scored them!' £500. I didn't take any of his money. "I didn't set any goals up! But going back to that, it shows you what kind of guy he was, to take it out of your own pocket and give it to someone else." Reflecting on his initial encounter with the late football legend at Bramall Lane, Ward shared his awe and admitted that he even asked Speed what exactly he should call him in light of such distinction. "When I turned up, that was the one man that I looked at, and was like, 'Wow.' So starstruck," added Ward. "Because growing up, I'd seen all his career. "I didn't know what to call him. I said to him, 'What do I call you?' I actually turned around to him and said that. 'Is it Gary, Speedo, Speedy?' "'Just call me Speedo.' Because I didn't know, and I just wanted to make sure I was getting it right. When he got the manager's job, I asked him again!"

Ange Postecoglou could make immediate management return to coach England star
Tottenham made the bold decision to sack Ange Postecoglou despite the Australian boss winning them the Europa League, but the 59-year-old is not expected to be short of offers amid interest from the Saudi Pro League Former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is said to be "seriously considering" a move to the Saudi Pro League to coach Al-Ahli after his brutal sacking by Spurs earlier this month. The Australian lost his job despite winning the Europa League for Tottenham, their first trophy in 17 years as he became only the third manager in their history to deliver a European trophy. But he still came under huge pressure after the team finished in 17th place, their worst ever finish in the Premier League and the only side to lose 22 games without being relegated. Spurs admitted it was "one of the toughest decisions we have had to make" as they insisted they couldn't be ruled by emotion in the wake of their cup success. Postecoglou has since been replaced by Thomas Frank, who arrived from Brentford, and the ex-Celtic boss is now looking ahead to the next chapter in his career. He has reportedly been approached by Saudi side Al-Ahli amid concerns that current boss Matthias Jaissle could leave the club after turning down a number of new contract offers. And according to the Sun, Postecoglou is attracted to the prospect of managing in the Middle East and is mulling over the Al-Ahli job should Jaissle depart. The report goes on to say that the 59-year-old also has interest from England and in Europe. It adds that he would be open to another job in the Premier League if the opportunity presents itself. If he does take over at Al-Ahli, Postecoglou would link up with England international Ivan Toney, as well as ex-Liverpool star Roberto Firmino, former Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez and ex-Barcelona star Franck Kessie. Al-Ahli have just won the AFC Champions League, so he could inherit a situation similar to Frank at Tottenham where is succeeding a successful manager. Whatever Postecoglou's next move ends up being, he will be able to boast an impressive trophy record, having won silverware at almost every major team he's managed. He released a statement after his Spurs sacking, expressing his "pride" over his tenure and achievements. "When I reflect on my time as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my overriding emotion is one of pride," he said. "The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. "Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget. Man United face increased competition for the winger after Tottenham opened talks with the Bees last week. Tottenham's attempts to hijack a deal came after the appointment of Frank as their new head coach on a three-year deal. The Dane had brought a teenage Mbeumo to Brentford from Troyes and over time nurtured him into one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Premier League. Mbeumo offered a glowing assessment of Frank when questioned about his departure from Brentford to join Tottenham, The forward expressed confidence Frank will prove a success at Tottenham, while he admitted speculation over his own future was a 'new' situation for him. 'It is a bit new for me I would say, I think it can be the life of a footballer and you need to accept it,' Mbeumo told Sky Sports. 'He's [Frank] done so much for me, he literally trusted me from the start. 'He developed me as a human and a player as well. So I can only wish him all the best, and I'm sure he's going to do well. The report claims the Red Devils believe they can secure his signing with Mbeumo having told confidants he only wants to join Man United, despite the potential to reunite with Frank at Tottenham and play Champions League football. Since joining for a £5.8m transfer fee, Mbeumo has scored 70 goals in 242 games for Brentford, including 42 in 136 Premier League matches. Mbeumo thrived following the departure of Ivan Toney last summer, with the forward enjoying his best Premier League campaign to date. The 25-year-old scored 20 goals and provided eight assists in the top flight last season. Mbeumo would provide Man United with much needed firepower after Ruben Amorim's side scored just 44 goals in the Premier League last season, the second lowest of any non-relegated side.
