2025 Belmont Stakes updated odds: Post Positions, expert analysis, jockeys, trainers, and fun facts
While there will not be a Triple Crown winner this season, Saturday's 157th running of the Belmont Stakes does boast the winners of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, Sovereignty and Journalism. Those two thoroughbreds and six other horses will race for the winner's share of the $2,000,000 purse.
Journalism (8-5) is the current favorite with Sovereignty (2-1) and Baeza (4-1) garnering plenty of attention as well but there is speed and potential sprinkled throughout this eight-horse field. Hill Road claimed the local prep race, the Peter Pan Stakes, Rodriguez roared to a win in the Wood Memorial, and Crudo won the 2025 Sir Barton Stakes. A case can be made for each to challenge the favorites.

It often pays, though, to strongly consider the horse that closes as the favorite in the Belmont. The favorite has won the Belmont 66 times accounting for 42.6% of the 156 previous editions of the final jewel of the Triple Crown series.
Renovations continue at Belmont Park and so for the second consecutive year the third jewel of horse-racing's Triple Crown will be held at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, NY. That change of venue also means a change to the distance of the Belmont Stakes. Typically the longest race of the Triple Crown at 1.5 miles, Saratoga means a 1.25 mile "sprint" for the top thoroughbreds in the world for the second consecutive year and the eighth time in the history of the race.
Odds will be updated and Drew Dinsick (@whale_capper) will share his prediction for the race as the week unfolds.

Sovereignty, Journalism, Baeza are 'top tier' in crop of Belmont Stakes horses
The 2025 Belmont Stakes — the third and final leg of the Triple Crown — takes place Saturday at Saratoga Race Course and FOX has you covered. Our television coverage begins at 4 p.m. ET, and yours truly and Geoff Schwartz will handle digital duties all afternoon on the Bear Bets social platforms. See you there. Due to construction at Belmont Park, this year's Belmont is being held at Saratoga. It'll be run at 1 ¼ miles instead of the traditional mile and a half. Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty is back in the mix, as is third-place Derby finisher Baeza to form a three-headed monster with Preakness winner Journalism. Those three horses are the undoubted heavy hitters. Odds to win 2025 Belmont Stakes 1. Hill Road: 10/12. Sovereignty: 2/13. Rodriguez: 6/14. Uncaged: 30/15. Crudo: 15/16. Baeza: 4/17. Journalism: 8/5 8. Heart of Honor: 30/1 As I've always said, I bet the horses but lean on my guys. Handicapper Colin Sheehan from Trust the Prophets is two-for-two in this year's Triple Crown after nailing Sovereignty at Churchill Downs and Journalism at Pimlico. "Heading into the Derby, I believed Sovereignty, Journalism and Baeza were the top tier of this year's crop," Sheehan told me. "The Derby and Preakness only confirmed that. This was not the year to get cute. "I'm not straying from the top three." Sheehan pointed out how the Preakness-to-Belmont turnaround is historically difficult, with Justify and American Pharoah being the only horses in recent years to run in both races and emerge victorious at the Belmont. "For that reason, I'm fading Journalism," Sheehan continued. "I'm sticking with my Derby pick, Sovereignty. He's been flawless this year under Junior Alvarado, and it's telling that his Hall of Fame trainer stuck to the plan of skipping the Preakness despite the Triple Crown temptation. "Sovereignty is back on his home track and looks fantastic. He eats up ground in the stretch like no other and, for my money, he remains the best 3-year-old horse in the country. He should be right there." Elsewhere, Florida-based handicapper Kirk Rockwell eyes speed. "Speed has been holding the last two days on Saratoga's main track," Rockwell told me Friday morning. "A speedy frontrunner like Rodriguez could get out front and hang on for dear life." As long as I've known Uncle Kirk, he's zigged while others zag. "Remember, it's a shorter race than usual," Rockwell added. "Rodriguez should be out front early. We'll see if he can finish late at a price." So there you have it, actionable thoughts from successful horse handicappers that are all much, much smarter than I am when it comes to this stuff. Here's what I'm betting on Saturday: $100 [2] Sovereignty to win$50 [3] Rodriguez to win and place $36 three-dollar exacta box with 1-2-3-6 Good luck, all. House Budget chairman explains why there's no 'pork' in Trump tax bill after Elon Musk attacks
FIRST ON FOX: The chairman of the House Budget Committee is pushing back on Elon Musk's claim that President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill" is full of "pork." Chairman Jodey Arrington, R-Texas, told Fox News Digital it was not possible for "pork barrel spending" to be included in the legislation, called a budget reconciliation bill, because the reconciliation process was simply not the mechanism for such federal funds. "Reconciliation does not have anything to do with discretionary spending — earmarks, and all of that," Arrington said. "And quite frankly, the [Department of Government Efficiency] findings were, I think, almost entirely an issue for... annual appropriations." "Discretionary spending" refers to the annual dollars allocated by Congress each year through the appropriations process, also known as "spending bills." House Gop Targets Another Dem Official Accused Of Blocking Ice Amid Delaney Hall Fallout It's a process that's historically known to be rife with "pork barrel spending" from both Republicans and Democrats — funding for pet projects or other specific initiatives benefiting a certain member of Congress' district. Read On The Fox News App But reconciliation deals with the government's "mandatory spending" — largely government welfare programs that can only be amended by changing the law. "We're dealing with mandatory spending programs — entitlements, health care, welfare and the tax code," Arrington said. "We did a responsible bill. There's no pork in it. The question, I think, for some folks and the objective of mine and my budget committee members was, whatever we're doing on tax or security to unleash growth and to buy greater security for the American people, we wanted it to be done in a fiscally responsible way." Senior White House advisor Stephen Miller echoed that sentiment on X: "The reconciliation bill cuts taxes, seals the border and reforms welfare. It is not a spending bill. There is no 'pork.' It is the campaign agenda codified." Mike Johnson, Donald Trump Get 'Big, 'Beautiful' Win As Budget Passes House The vast majority of the trillions of dollars in the bill are aimed at Trump's tax policies — extending his 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) while implementing new priorities like eliminating taxes on tips and overtime wages. There's also $4 trillion in House Republicans' versions of the bill aimed at raising the debt limit. The legislation is also aimed at amending current laws to enable new funding for border security and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — projected to boost those priorities by billions of dollars. To offset those costs, House GOP leaders are seeking stricter work requirements for Medicaid and food stamps, while shifting more of the cost burden for both programs to the states. Republicans are also looking to roll back green energy tax subsidies in former President Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). But Musk and other fiscal hawks' main concern has been that the legislation does not go far enough with those spending cuts. They have also raised concerns about the overall bill adding to the national debt, which is currently nearing $37 trillion. As part of his social media campaign against the bill, Musk called for both eliminating the tax cuts and removing the debt limit increase from the final legislation. Musk reposted another X user who wrote, "Drop the tax cuts, cut some pork, get the bill through." He's also shown support on X for Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and his call to strip the debt limit provision out of the bill. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has projected that the bill would cut taxes by $3.7 trillion while raising deficits by $2.4 trillion over a article source: House Budget chairman explains why there's no 'pork' in Trump tax bill after Elon Musk attacks
