Britain's Got Talent's semi-final kicks off ahead of stomach-churning act
This week promises to deliver a string of rather unforgettable moments with a huge variety of acts competing to receive the highest public votes to guarantee a place in the grand final. But it's not just the vote which will guarantee one act the chance of winning. In a major change, the judges will be given the honour of the golden buzzer each week, choosing their favourite act of the night.
Opening tonights show is the cast of Just For One Day – the musical which explores the backstage story of Live Aid, one of the biggest global music events in history, created by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure OBE. Elsewhere, show champion Sydnie Christmas will be returning to the stage.
Last year, Sydnie won Amanda's Golden Buzzer during her audition as she sang Tomorrow from the musical Annie. The Mirror are bringing you all the latest updates, live.
Each year, the winner competes for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But what is that prize?
The prize is £250,000 in cash as well as a spot on the prestigious Royal Variety Performance line-up, performing for King Charles and Queen Camilla, or another senior member of the Royal Family, including Prince William and Princess Kate.
So far, Olly Pearson, Stacey Leadbeatter, The Blackouts and Vinnie McKee have landed a place in the final.
This week, eight acts will take to the stage to battle for the public vote and the remaining judge's Golden Buzzer.
They will be:
The programme is no stranger to having huge famous faces taking to the stage, and this week is no different.
Kicking off the semi-final this week will be the cast of Just For One Day, a musical that takes us behind the scenes of the biggest global music event on record, Live Aid. Audiences are in for a spectacular opening as the show is set to transfer to the West End this month, following sold-out runs at London's Old Vic and in Toronto.
Also appearing on stage this week, Britain's Got Talent reigning champion, Sydnie Christmas, is set to deliver a breathtaking performance. Sydnie won Amanda's Golden Buzzer with her heartfelt rendition of Tomorrow from the musical Annie, before sailing through the semi-finals with her performance of My Way.
However, it was her mesmerising version of Over the Rainbow that captured the nation's hearts and saw her crowned as the winner last year.
Unlike previous years, where the show has aired daily, the live semi-finals are airing on a weekly basis.
This means that the date of the grand final has been pushed back. Instead, it will air on Saturday, May 31.

Emmerdale's John Sugden star Oliver Farnworth 'to leave after just a year' - and it's soon
Emmerdale actor Oliver Farnworth - who returned to the ITV soap as John Sugden last year - is reportedly set to leave the show in upcoming scenes after his serial killer storyline Emmerdale's Oliver Farnworth is reportedly set to leave the ITV soap after just one year on our screens as John Sugden. The actor joined Emmerdale last summer as John - who has become the latest killer to terrorise the Yorkshire town. Now, John 's time is up in the village, according to The Sun. "It's the beginning of the end for John. He's got away with so much but he's about to make a fatal mistake that sees him exposed for what he is," a source told the publication. "Obviously Oliver knew that a character like John had a shelf life and that's rapidly approaching." They added that he's "loved his time" on the show and there's "plenty of twist and turns" yet to come before is exit. It comes after Emmerdale fans were shocked to discover top music star once appeared on ITV soap. The Mirror has approached ITV for comment. Last week, Emmerdale fans began speculating that John's time on the ITV soap would be coming to an end - and even had a theory as to how it will happen. We've watched as John has gotten away with the murder of Nate Robinson, the attack on Aidan Moore and leaving Owen to die. Meanwhile, it's rumoured that Mackenzie Boyd is being killed off, making him the next victim of killer John. With that in mind, many think that Cain, Charity and Moira Dingle will team up to take him down. "John will have killed Cain's son, Moira's brother and Charity's husband," a fan wrote on social media. "And you really don't want to cross those three. There is no way he is getting out of Emmerdale alive." In other Emmerdale news, star Isabel Hodgins revealed last week that she is expecting with her first child with husband Adam Whitehead. The actor, who plays Victoria Sugden on the soap, told OK! Magazine: "It's exciting but also scary, because it has happened so fast and it's our first time. "Originally, we booked a wedding for 2026, but then I realised I didn't want to wait that long to start a family. But I also wanted to be married first, so I kept changing the goal posts, but this was always the plan!" The pair married in Manchester in May, with her co-star Eden Taylor Draper and school friend Shannon Moran as bridesmaids. Emmerdale stars Jeff Hordley, Zoe Henry, Mark Jordan, Laura Norton and Danny Miller were also in attendance for the big day.
