Cong neglecting devpt in Narayanpet: Ex MLA
Mahabubnagar: Former BRS MLA Rajender Reddy launched a scathing attack on the ruling leaders during a press conference held in Narayanpet, criticizing the local MLA Dr Parnika Reddy and Mahabubnagar MP DK Aruna for failing to deliver on key development promises in the region.
Reddy accused the local MLA of falsely claiming credit for the sanctioning of the medical college in Narayanpet. 'The college was approved during the previous government's tenure. Taking credit now is misleading,' he said. He also demanded that the old hospital building be cleaned, renovated, and used to continue medical services in the town.
Highlighting pending projects, he said that proposals for a 250-bed Women and Child Hospital were already submitted and should be executed in the existing hospital premises. He criticized the current leadership for claiming achievements they never actually delivered. 'Don't boast about work you haven't done,' he remarked sharply. Reddy expressed disappointment that several projects sanctioned during his term have been stalled, including the construction of a guest house for which Rs 4 crore was approved. 'Instead of building it in Narayanpet, it was shifted to Kodangal, and no one is questioning this,' he added. He also questioned the performance of the local MP, who holds a significant position in the BJP. 'Why hasn't a Sainik School been sanctioned for Narayanpet despite her influence?' Reddy asked.
Rajender Reddy challenged the current leaders to list out what they have truly achieved in their 18 months of governance, stating that the people of Narayanpet deserve answers and real development.

Delhi govt to name projects after Chaudhary Brahm Prakash: Parvesh Verma
Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma on Monday said that the BJP government would consider naming new projects in the city after the Capital's first Chief Minister Chaudhary Brahm Prakash. Addressing an event organised in Delhi Assembly premises on the 107th birth anniversary of Chaudhary Brahm Prakash, Verma said he was a social worker who strived to develop the city. 'It would be a sin to forget his contributions,' he said. 'My father (Chief Minister Sahib Singh) in 1997 got Chaudhary Brahm Prakash's statue installed in the Assembly premises which is today the centre of events to mark his anniversary,' he said. The Minister thanked residents of Outer Delhi who joined the anniversary event and said that the Delhi government would consider naming new projects in the city after Chaudhary Brahm Prakash. 'Even though he was not associated with our party, we have gathered here to honour him and remember his contributions. In the coming days, we shall work closely with his family and do everything possible to pay tributes to him,' he said. Earlier, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta recalled Chaudhary Brahm Prakash's contributions, vowing to realise his vision for the city and its rural areas. Chaudhary Brahm Prakash became Delhi's Chief Minister at a young age of 33 years, after taking part in the Independence struggle and even spending time in prison, said Gupta. 'We remember him as a dedicated social worker who was among the founders of Independent India,' he said. The granddaughter of Delhi's first CM said her family hopes that the work started by him is taken forward. 'The Delhi envisioned by my grandfather should become a reality and his name should not remain confined to history books,' she said, thanking the Speaker for organising the event. At the event, the Assembly Secretariat had made arrangement for freedom fighters to pay tributes to the first Delhi CM, an official said. Chaudhary Brahm Prakash became the first Delhi CM in 1952 and held the office till 1955. He also represented Delhi in Parliament and even served as Union minister, including as Minister for Food, Agriculture, Irrigation and Cooperatives.

'MLAs who rode cycles now own luxury cars', Punjab BJP chief seeks HC probe into drug money trail
Seeking the High Court Chief Justice-monitored probe into the drug money trail, state BJP chief Sunil Jakhar on Monday blamed Punjab legislators who rode cycles and now own luxury cars. In a missive to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the BJP chief said, 'It is imperative to follow the money to track down the powerful beneficiaries in the drug money trail if the government wants to establish its credibility and resolve to uproot the drug mafia from Punjab.' He sought the intervention of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu for setting up an appropriate 'time-bound' probe by a credible agency, or even a multi-agency probe, under the supervision of the Chief Justice to uncover the end beneficiaries in the drug money trail. 'Arresting thousands of drug addicts and small players won't make any difference in rooting out the drug menace. The flow of money has to be established to catch the big fish and arrest the end beneficiaries, be it politicians across party lines or officials. Without this, the government's claim in its fight against drugs in Punjab remains a farce,' Jakhar said, adding the drug cartels in the state cannot thrive without some or the other kind of patronage which has been there for some time now. Jakhar said the recovery of narcotics in 'Punjab goes into several thousands of crores, which underlies the rot that exists. At the same time, the fortunes of so many Punjab politicians have turned in the last few years. This raises a lot of stench and suspicion on the source of funding'. Without naming anyone, the BJP chief said, 'MLAs who would come on cycles now own luxury cars worth many crores. Many have several acres of farmhouses,' he said. 'Since the quantum of money involved in the drug trail is colossal, the money laundering case can be probed either by the Enforcement Directorate, or as deemed fit by the Chief Justice. Merely filing mandatory income tax returns by MLAs and others is not enough as there is a clear mismatch between their claims and the ground reality,' the BJP chief asserted. The ministers, MLAs, party presidents, party in-charges and leaders of all hues should be a part of the investigation by the agencies, Jakhar stressed, adding that he, as the BJP president, volunteers to be the first to be probed as a mark of his and his party's sincerity and earnestness. 'The CM should, on priority, write to the honourable Chief Justice for initiating a probe by any agency deemed appropriate. The probe should be under the supervision of the Chief Justice, without which the flow of money to end beneficiaries of the drug trade will not be possible,' the BJP president said. He said it would be prudent that the 'role of the judiciary and the executive remain separate and independent, which is why the CM should write to the Chief Justice under whose supervision the probe to establish the flow of money in the drug money trail can be initiated.' 'Not just the drug money trail, the trail of illicit money from mining and sand mafia also needs to be probed and the guilty brought to book,' Jakhar added.

Making cuts in implementation of MGNREGA crime against Constitution: Kharge
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday alleged that the Modi government is trying to destroy MGNREGA and said making cuts in the implementation of this scheme is a "crime against the Constitution". The Congress president shared on X a media report which claimed that for the first time, the government has capped spending under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at 60 per cent of its annual allocation for the first half of the financial year 2025-26. In a post in Hindi on X, Kharge said, "The Modi government is trying to destroy MGNREGA, the lifeline of the poor. The Modi government has now fixed the limit of MGNREGA expenditure at 60% for the first 6 months of the year". Making cuts in the implementation of MGNREGA, which ensures the Right to Work under the Constitution, is a "crime against the Constitution", he said. Posing questions from the Congress' side, Kharge asked whether the Modi government is doing this only because it wants to snatch about Rs 25,000 crore from the pockets of the poor, which it has to spend separately in the next financial year when the demand is high at the end of the year. "Since MGNREGA is a demand-driven scheme, what happens if there is a surge in demand during the first half in case of disasters or adverse weather conditions? Will not imposing such a cap hurt the poor who depend on MGNREGA for their livelihood?" Kharge said. What happens if the limit is crossed and will states be forced to deny employment despite demand, or will workers have to work without payment, he asked. Is it not true that according to a recent report, only 7 per cent of families have received the promised 100 days of work, Kharge further asked. "Why were nearly 7 crore registered workers excluded from MGNREGA on the condition of AADHAAR based payment? Why was the MGNREGA budget allocated the least in the total budget in 10 years? Why is the anti-poor Modi government hell-bent on oppressing MGNREGA workers?" he said. The axing of expenditure on MGNREGA is a severe blow inflicted by the Modi government on the lives of every poor, Kharge said, adding the Congress will vehemently oppose this. "We are firm on our two demands -- First, a minimum wage of Rs 400 per day should be fixed for MGNREGA workers. Second, there should be employment for at least 150 days in a year," he said.
