Four teens to be charged over two bullying cases in Sg Petani
SUNGAI PETANI: Four teen suspects in two cases of bullying in the district last month are expected to be charged in court today. Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said all four had already had their statements recorded before being released on police bail. He said they will be charged at the Sungai Petani magistrate's court. "One of the cases will see charges under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Penal Code while the under will see charges under only Section 323," he said in a statement. In the first case on July 14, it was reported that a Form 1 student at a school here was bullied by two schoolmates who were jealous of her. The 13-year-old was said to have had her hands and legs bound with a necktie and her mouth gagged using a handkerchief. She was found in one of the school's toilets in a search after she failed to meet her mother after school at 6.30pm. During investigations, two of the girl's schoolmates were questioned. Hanyan said, in the second case, two male Form 3 students of another school were suspected of punching a schoolmate, also in Form 3, on July 21. The victim's father, he said, was informed of the incident about 12.30pm that day.
