MAYS IBRAHIM (ABU DHABI)With its weeklong Ramadan Night Market, Masdar City has created a community space that served as a hub for homegrown businesses in a vibrant celebration of Emirati culture.Running until March 28 at Masdar Park, the market showcases local, family-run businesses offering a diverse range of products, from traditional Emirati clothing and handmade jewellery to perfume and customised accessories. The souk sought to embody the spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid celebrations."[It] fosters a warm, community-driven atmosphere with festive lights, delicious food, and live music, capturing the essence of togetherness and generosity that defines Ramadan and Eid celebrations. It's a place for families to enjoy meaningful experiences and create lasting memories," Masdar City said in a statement to Aletihad. Visitors can enjoy traditional Emirati treats like luqaimat, crispy dumplings drizzled with date syrup, alongside refreshing local teas.Cultural items, such as perfume and aromatic Bukhoor, are also available for those looking to experience the distinctive fragrances of the UAE.On weekends, the Hub by Social transforms into a lively entertainment space with live Oud and Saz performances, creating an immersive cultural experience.Visitors can also participate in a unique spices workshop where they can explore the aromatic flavours of Emirati cuisine."These activities, combined with the lively atmosphere, enrich the overall visitor experience and celebrate local culture," Masdar City said.In partnership with the Municipal Community Center in Khalifa City, the market also aims to empower local entrepreneurs and homegrown businesses by providing them with a platform to showcase their products, increase their visibility, and engage with the community."It's a great opportunity for small businesses to grow and thrive in a supportive, community-focused environment."
The Ramadan Night Market is open daily from 8pm to 2am, providing ample time for visitors to explore, shop, and enjoy the entertainment.

CBUAE revokes licence of Malik Exchange and slaps fine of Dh2 million

The initiative embodies the vision of the UAE's leadership to empower Emirati youth to actively contribute to the nation's comprehensive and sustainable pioneering national initiative translates the country's agenda into tangible action by preparing a generation of capable, forward-thinking leaders ready to advance the future economy. Targeting high-achieving Emirati students in Grades 11 and 12, the initiative aligns with the strategic objectives of Education Interface, FAB, and the MoE in the areas of community empowerment, corporate social responsibility, national talent development, and enhancing the economic and professional readiness of the next initiative's framework combined academic enrichment, leadership, professional evaluation, and hands-on experience within a real banking environment. It was built on a rigorous and data-driven selection and assessment process, beginning with a pre-nominated list of more than 600 of the nation's top-performing students, referred by the MoE based on academic then progressed through several qualitative evaluation stages, including an initial academic filter for students achieving averages above 95 per cent, producing a shortlist of 400 candidates; the NYFP Leadership and Sectoral Alignment Assessment, designed to identify students with a specific interest in the financial and banking sectors; a comprehensive review of prior training experience, extracurricular achievements, and demonstrated maturity; a strategic essay-based evaluation for the most committed and exceptional participants; leadership capacity and professional vision these stages, only 30 students, representing the nation's most prepared and capable future leaders, were selected. Their performance reflected an exceptional combination of academic intelligence, leadership presence, and professional participants received official certificates recognising their success in completing the initiative. In addition, they were granted access to a flexible training programme across FAB's branches, tailored to their locations. The NYFP aims to cultivate the next generation of Emirati leaders in the financial sector, setting a benchmark for institutional collaboration between public and private entities, and strengthening youth participation in shaping a competitive, knowledge-based NYFP is a national platform for developing high-calibre leaders capable of driving transformation and influencing the future of the financial landscape. UAE dominates M&A activity in MENA region in H1 2025
19 Aug 2025 23:48 MAYS IBRAHIM (ABU DHABI)The UAE has attracted nearly half of the MENA's total M&A value of $58.7 billion in the first half of 2025, according to the latest EY MENA M&A Insights UAE captured investments worth $25.4 billion, mainly in chemicals, technology, industrials, and real estate. Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) received investments worth $2.5b in the first half of this the MENA region recorded 425 M&A deals between January and June 2025, marking a 31% increase in volume and a 19% rise in value compared to the same period last year. 'This performance builds on the steady flow of transactions seen in 2024, with strong momentum in early 2025 supported by regulatory reforms, policy shifts, and an improving macroeconomic outlook,' the EY report stated. Although deal-making slowed slightly in the second quarter amid global trade policies and regional conflicts, market sentiment remained positive with investors increasingly targeting sectors offering diversification and high-potential growth opportunities.'We are witnessing record-breaking cross-border activity as investors look beyond short-term volatility, actively pursuing scale, innovation, and new market opportunities,' Brad Watson, MENA EY-Parthenon Leader, said.'The UAE, in particular, remains a magnet for global capital, supported by a stable regulatory framework and a focus on economic diversification, while regional partnerships with Europe, Asia, and North America are opening doors to fresh growth channels.'The UAE was the clear leader in inbound M&A, capturing 50% of all inbound deals and an overwhelming 98% of inbound deal value across the region. The UAE also witnessed strong domestic activity, with 192 transactions worth $12.8 billion in H1 2025. Group 42's $2.2 billion acquisition of a 40% stake in Khazna Data Center was the largest local deals across the MENA region hit their highest level in five years, with 233 transactions worth $45.9 billion, accounting for 78% of total deal value. Chemicals and technology sectors dominated, making up 67% of cross-border deal Menon, MENA EY-Parthenon Head of M&A and Equity Capital Markets Leader, noted that the MENA's strong dealmaking in 2025 reflects investor confidence in the region's long-term fundamentals. 'Stable oil prices, ongoing infrastructure development, and a strategic focus on technology, chemicals, and industrials are creating solid foundations for sustained activity,' he explained. 'As the year progresses, we expect intensifying competition for high-quality assets, particularly those that align with national transformation agendas and offer strategic value beyond financial returns.'Outbound activity reached 126 deals valued at $24.4b in H1 2025, up 30% in volume from the same period in 2024, according to EY. 'The UAE and KSA together accounted for 87% of outbound value, supported by government-related entities playing a major role.'Notable UAE-led moves included ADNOC and OMV AG's acquisition of Canada's Nova Chemicals. Sovereign wealth funds and government-backed entities such as ADIA and Mubadala played a central role, driving $21 billion in deal value across chemicals, technology, and industrials.
