Enjoy live music under the stars at State Museum's concert series
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Guests can experience live music under the stars at the South Carolina State Museum's Constellation Concert series.
Organizers say musicians and vocalists will perform under the stars in a series of Constellation Concerts in the museum's observatory.
The Marion McPartland: Under the Stars concert will take place Thursday, March 20th from 6:30 – 10 p.m.
'A decade after the passing of jazz legend Marian McPartland at the age of 95, her influence continues to resonate,' said State Museum officials. 'The State Museum and the ColaJazz Foundation invite you to an evening celebrating the beloved host of NPR's Marian 'McPartland's Piano Jazz.''
State Museum officials added the jazz trio will perform a selection of her compositions alongside works by the jazz giants who inspired her.
Tickets for the General Public are $30 and $24 for Museum Members. Wine and beer will be available for purchase, with a complimentary snack included.

Tickets on sale for Patriots Point fireworks blast
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Tickets are on sale now for one of the Charleston area's favorite summer celebrations. The Fourth of July Fireworks Blast will take place aboard the historic USS Yorktown aircraft carrier at Patriots Point on the Independence Day holiday. The celebration will include live music, local food and beverage vendors, family-friendly activities, and great views of the more than 20-minute fireworks show over Charleston Harbor. 'Whether you're a Charleston local or visiting for the holiday, there's no better place to celebrate America's birthday than atop a piece of American history,' the museum said. A ticket to the celebration includes access to the USS Yorktown and all activities associated with the fireworks blast. Food and drink are available for purchase. The event will be held from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Organizers say parking is available on site and is not included in the event ticket. Space is limited. Longtime Charleston radio personality TJ Phillips has died, radio station says
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A longtime Charleston radio personality who hosted shows on 92.5 Kickin' Country has died. 'Charleston Media Solutions is sad to announce the passing of TJ Phillips, who died peacefully on Sunday, June 8th,' the radio group said in an announcement Monday morning. TJ Phillips had an established career in radio having worked in the business since he was 15 years old and covered genres including country, classic rock, CHR, alternative, sports and talk radio. Most recently, Philips co-hosted 'TJ & Jessica in the Morning' with Jessica Chandler weekdays from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Saturdays on 92.5 Kickin' Country. 'TJ Phillips was more than a morning DJ. He was an immensely talented broadcaster, but also a veteran who proudly served his country, a man who constantly tried to make the lives of others better, and a friend who will be greatly missed,' said Paul O'Malley, President of Charleston Media Solutions. Before joining 92.5 and Charleston Radio Group, Phillips worked at WEZL from 1990 until 2016. He became a central figure in the local community winning Best Radio Personality by The Charleston City Paper and Mount Pleasant Magazine, Best Local Radio Show, and South Carolina Broadcasters Radio Show of the Year. Spoleto Festival USA names new music director of the festival chorus
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)—Spoleto Festival USA has appointed a new music director for the festival chorus. Starting in 2026, Dr. Amanda Quist will bring her knowledge to the position of directing the chorus. Dr. Quist is an associate professor and director of choral activities at Western Michigan University. She possesses a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting and a Doctoral Cognate in Voice Pedagogy and Science from the University of North Texas. 'We are incredibly excited to welcome Amanda Quist to the Spoleto Festival USA family,' said Spoleto Festival USA General Director and CEO Dr. Mena Mark Hanna. 'Her profound musicality, innovative programming ideas, and commitment to nurturing the next generation of professional singers align perfectly with the Festival's artistic mission. Amanda will build upon Joe Miller's legacy at Spoleto and continue to lead the Festival Chorus to new heights of artistry and excellence.'
