SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Jan. 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Discover Puerto Rico, the Island's official Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), announces a record-breaking year for Puerto Rico's tourism industry in 2024. Fueled by innovative collaborations and strategic efforts, Puerto Rico experienced remarkable growth in air travel, lodging, and employment within the leisure and hospitality sectors.
An Exceptional Year in Tourism Metrics
Puerto Rico reached new heights across key tourism indicators in 2024, cementing a fourth consecutive record-breaking year, underscoring the Island's appeal as a must-visit destination and highlighting the vital role of tourism in driving economic development:
Air Passenger Growth: Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport experienced record growth in 2024 with over 6.6 million passenger arrivals. This is over 518,000 more passengers and an 8% increase vs. 2023.
Lodging Demand: The Island saw nearly 7.3 million room nights booked, according to STR and AirDNA data, a 7% increase compared to 2023.
Job Creation: Puerto Rico achieved a record 101,700 leisure and hospitality jobs by November 2024, a 5% increase over the previous year, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Cruise Tourism Revival: Over 1.4 million cruise passengers visited San Juan Cruise Port in 2024, marking a 10% increase from 2023.
'Puerto Rico's tourism industry has reached new heights in 2024, solidifying our position as a leading global destination,' said Leah Chandler, CMO of Discover Puerto Rico. 'This milestone year reflects not just the appeal of the Island's vibrant culture and natural beauty, but the tireless dedication of our team and partners who have embraced innovative strategies to elevate Puerto Rico's profile. As we set our sights on 2025, we're focused on sustaining this momentum and continuing to inspire travelers around the globe to visit our Island.'
Strategic Partnerships and Expanded Presence
Discover Puerto Rico's 2024 success was elevated by strategic collaborations with leading brands and media outlets, positioning the organization as a pioneer in destination marketing:
Live Boricua Campaign Evolution: In March 2024, Discover Puerto Rico unveiled an evolved 'Live Boricua' campaign, deepening its focus on the unique Puerto Rican way of life. Collaborating with Puerto Rican director Luis Gerard and photographer Stephanie Segarra and featuring an all-Puerto Rican cast and crew, the campaign showcases authentic local experiences. Highlighting activities such as exploring El Yunque, dining with chef Mario Pagán in Condado, enjoying Luquillo Beach, and dancing at La Factoría in Old San Juan. According to annual surveys conducted by Strategic Marketing Research & Insights, the destination achieved remarkable progress between 2018 and 2024. Positive perception of Puerto Rico increased from 38% to 48%, familiarity with the destination grew from 34% to 45%, and the likelihood of visiting soared from 15% to 25%. Such substantial growth is a rarity in the travel industry, underscoring Puerto Rico's rising appeal among travelers.
Technological Advancements: Through collaborations with leading tech brands, Discover Puerto Rico launched innovative AI-driven solutions to ensure marketing materials are effectively finding relevant consumers and that their trip planning process is seamless.
With Anoki, the destination connected with modern streaming audiences, using artificial intelligence to understand what content is being shown on screen and targeting ads accordingly.
With Clicktripz, the DMO launched CHIME (Chat to Inspire Meaningful Engagement), allowing consumers to converse with a bot to learn about travel to the destination.
Additionally, marketing took a step forward by utilizing Times Square's new 3-dimensional billboard capability, making it one of the first destinations to advertise in this way and transporting audiences to the tranquility of the Island.
Impactful Media Partnerships: Discover Puerto Rico fostered meaningful collaborations with leading media outlets and platforms, amplifying the Island's vibrant culture.
The DMO partnered with TIME Magazine at the prestigious TIME100 NEXT Gala, an event honoring emerging leaders shaping the future.
Similarly, at Forbes' New Icons event, the energy of Puerto Rico resonated through a surprise live performance by talented Puerto Rican musicians.
In collaboration with Atlas Obscura, Discover Puerto Rico created a four-part audio series exploring the Island's cultural roots and global influence.
Captivating Cruisers: The DMO launched its first-ever cruise-specific promotion with a data-driven strategy designed to resonate with the loyal and engaged cruising audience. The campaign effectively elevated Puerto Rico's profile as a premier cruise destination by leveraging dynamic video content and targeted site-traffic tactics, and contributed to the impressive growth in 2024.
Beyond Tourism: To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the iconic Piña Colada, Discover Puerto Rico partnered with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream to create a custom ice cream flavor that brought the Island to consumers in a fun and unexpected way. Free scoops were handed out from a truck at three New York City locations on Piña Colada Day, while pints sold out in two weeks—surpassing expectations. This collaboration highlighted Puerto Rico's culinary influence and kept the destination top of mind, showcasing its culture and flavors to a wider audience.
'Puerto Rico's tourism growth is a testament to the transformative power of bold marketing and strategic partnerships,' Chandler added. 'By authentically amplifying the Island's vibrant culture and embracing the latest technologies, we've ignited a new wave of travelers while setting a groundbreaking standard for how destinations connect with audiences on a deeper, more meaningful level.'
As the DMO continues to prioritize forward-thinking strategies and conscious travel, 2025 promises to build on the remarkable achievements of 2024. This year, the destination anticipates the introduction of more direct flights from cities across the U.S., including a direct route from San Antonio starting in March 2025; a variety of new hotel openings, including those catering to the luxury market; and the inaugural Puerto Rico Wine and Food Festival, which will showcase the Island's world-class culinary talent.
With no passport, currency exchange, or international phone plan required for U.S. citizens, Puerto Rico is the perfect destination for those seeking a seamless blend of vibrant culture, stunning beaches, world-class cuisine, and thrilling adventures—all infused with the Island's 'Live Boricua' spirit.

When "Just for Fun" Meets AI Tech: Singapore Tourism Board and Mafengwo Explore New Ways to Travel in the Future

SINGAPORE, June 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 10th, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Mafengwo jointly hosted the "#AnywayIt'sFun Inspiration Renewal Journey" event in Beijing. Centered around the themes of "contrast, novelty, and social connection," the event showcased the diverse charm of Singapore travel through an immersive Nanyang-style experience, a friendly roundtable discussion, and stories shared by travel influencers. Mafengwo unveiled its latest AI-powered cultural and creative product, powered by its self-developed AI model for travel industry, offering tourists a glimpse into the future of "smart travel." In recent years, Chinese travelers have increasingly sought deeper, more personalized travel experiences rather than chasing popular attractions. According to user data from Mafengwo's "AI Travel Assistant for Singapore", travelers' preferences to Singapore are becoming more nuanced and segmented. Families with children care about "queue times at attractions" and "stroller rentals," young travelers seek out "trendy cafés" and "Peranakan culture check-ins," while seniors prioritize "barrier-free facilities." "To meet these needs, Singapore has introduced five themed travel profiles," explained Mr. Andrew Phua, STB's Chief Representative and Executive Director of Greater China, during the roundtable. "Health-conscious travelers can explore Sentosa's rainforest ecosystem through immersive guided tours. Food lovers may try the uniquely flavored coffee pork ribs. Urban explorers can marvel at prehistoric wonders at the new Jurassic World: The Exhibition at Gardens by the Bay. Experience-seekers can feel the pulse of Formula 1 and enjoy live performances at the Singapore Grand Prix. Meanwhile, senior travelers may enjoy the tranquility and joy of traditional embroidery workshops. By combining AI technology with tourism products, we can provid endless possibilities aligned with the "Just for Fun" spirit. " "AI travel assistants—whether in the form of digital itineraries or creative cultural products—are more than tools. They are triggers for travel inspiration," said Chen Gang, CEO of Mafengwo. He elaborated on how AI is reshaping travel in the era of hyper-independent travel and introduced "AI XiaoXinxin," an AI assistant in plush doll form. It could seamlessly answer Singapore-related travel questions from both the host and guests, while also acting as a fun companion for photos and emotional support on trips. The AI Travel Itinerary tool ("AI Roadbook") offers exhaustive pre-trip planning support. Chen Gang demonstrated when prompted with "a 5-day in-depth cultural trip with parents," the system generated a thoughtfully balanced itinerary including Chinese heritage tours in Chinatown, local coffee culture, traditional crafts, and old-school cafés. Each section comes with budget allocations from economical to premium tiers. Especially for senior travelers, it introduces features like Singapore's "Green Man+" system and Silver Zones—facilities designed to enhance elderly convenience—thus easing planning anxiety. "Additionally, the newly launched real-time translation tool by AI Xiaoma eliminates the hassle of typing; users can simply press and speak into two microphones alternately on the same screen for seamless multilingual interaction." Two Mafengwo's influencers (Feng Shou) shared what "Just for Fun" means to them in Singapore. Geotechnical engineer and super dad Ren Yuan Tai Shan reflected on how he once fixated on rigid itineraries, but now treasures spontaneous moments—like chatting with local elders while enjoying fish ball noodles with his child near HDB flats. Meanwhile, first-time visitor and ski coach Yi Yun looked forward to zoning out, sipping Kopi, and strolling around the vibrant, sun-soaked streets, hoping to stumble upon delightful surprises. Beyond savoring local dishes at the Peranakan Flavor Remix Booth and creating handmade crafts at the Nanyang Mini Workshop, the appearance of the AI-powered "Xiaoma Robot" dressed in Singapore-themed outfits brought the event to a peak. Like travelers just back from Singapore, these robots offered guests a quirky, smart, and whimsical travel encounter. As long-term strategic partners, STB and Mafengwo have previously precisely reached family and young traveler segments through campaigns like "The Best Summer Homework" and "Jackson Wang's Itinerary," pioneering the integration of the latest technology into travel as the first overseas destination AI partner. The launch of this AI travel companion marks a significant transition in their collaboration from "content marketing" to " intelligent services." It is understood that both parties will continue to upgrade the AI companion's features to empower the "Just for Fun" philosophy, enabling travelers to enjoy both meticulous planning and unexpected discoveries around every corner in their Singapore journey. TPIsoftware Drives Vietnam's Industry 4.0 by Accelerating Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park Green Transformation with Newly-Launched ESG Platform 'Shinec Digital Green Economy'

TAIPEI, June 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Shinec Joint Stock Company, the developer of Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park (IP), officially launched its ESG application platform, "Shinec Digital Green Economy," marking a significant milestone on its journey toward sustainable development. This event not only represents a major step in the comprehensive digitalization of the IP's operational management but also affirms Nam Cau Kien's pioneering role in creating an eco-industrial park, advancing towards Net-Zero targets, and unlocking the potential for carbon credit generation. TPIsoftware supports the park sustainability initiative with the "Shinec Digital Green Economy" platform, a comprehensive solution powered by the company's GreenSwift (smart carbon management platform) and ElectriSwift (smart energy management system), with GGI Technology serving as the ESG consultant. The platform functions as an intelligent IP management system focused on digitalizing environmental management, emissions control, and security. Through this platform, the solution provides a holistic management system, from real-time carbon emissions data collection and analysis of emission and energy consumption hotspots to recommending and monitoring improvement strategies. The superiority of "Shinec Digital Green Economy" is demonstrated through its diverse integrated features: Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Management (powered by GreenSwift): Streamlines carbon data collection, analysis and reporting, ensuring auditing and inventory efficiency through an integrated platform, aligning the inventory process with international standards such as ISO 14064-1. Smart Energy Management (powered by ElectriSwift): Monitors and detects energy inefficiencies based on acquired power usage patterns, providing insights into energy consumption with real-time alerting for optimized energy-saving strategies. Wastewater Monitoring and Treatment: Tracks water quality indicators (pH, TSS, COD, BOD, Ammonia) before and after treatment and calculates the corresponding GHG emissions. Intelligent Security Monitoring: Integrates AIoT into the camera system to issue instant security alerts for events such as crowd detection, fence climbing, accidents, and fires. Visual Reporting: Provides an intuitive dashboard on both mobile and web platforms, allowing management to access reports anytime, anywhere, facilitating timely and effective decision-making. In the face of intense pressure from global climate change, Carbon Management Systems (CMS) are emerging as a new global trend, aligning with international accords such as the Paris Agreement (2015), Net Zero 2050, and COP26/COP28. These frameworks compel businesses to reduce carbon emissions. Regulations like the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) impose carbon tariffs on imported goods, forcing exporting enterprises to measure and manage their carbon footprint. Globally, CMS is becoming mandatory for listed companies (under IFRS S2, CSRD), while carbon pricing (taxes, ETS) is being strengthened in developing nations. Japan and South Korea are leading with carbon pricing policies (carbon tax, ETS), with corporations like Toyota and Samsung already implementing CMS to achieve their Net Zero 2050 goals. Indonesia and Malaysia are focusing on CMS in the oil and gas and agricultural sectors. The Indian government has promoted its Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) since 2023. China is at the forefront of implementing robust policies to support its businesses in transitioning towards carbon neutrality by 2060 and is a pioneer in IP carbon management, investing in carbon offset projects across ASEAN and Africa. Vietnam is committed to achieving net zero by 2050 and will pilot a carbon credit exchange, including mechanisms for trading and offsetting credits, while preparing to officially launch a carbon credit trading floor connected to regional and international markets by 2028. CMS adoption in Vietnam is expected to grow, driven by FDI and export requirements. The government will support SMEs through tax incentives and training. Vietnamese businesses are encouraged to invest in CMS early to mitigate carbon tax risks and enhance global competitiveness. Investing in this green and digital solution not only helps Nam Cau Kien IP optimize operations and reduce costs through efficient energy and resource use but is also a strategic move to enhance its brand reputation through environmental responsibility. This positions the IP to achieve ISO certifications for energy management (ISO 50001) and carbon neutrality (ISO 14068). Furthermore, the next phase of the project is expected to digitize green spaces—which account for 31% of the entire IP, including trees, shrubs, lawns, and water features—and renewable energy sources. This will create a solid foundation for calculating carbon sequestration and tapping into the future carbon credit market for the developer. Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park, under Shinec's strategic investment, marks the group's commitment to creating an eco-industrial park model toward achieving carbon neutrality. The collective efforts of Shinec's pioneering vision, GGI Technology's expert consultancy, and TPIsoftware's strengths in implementing impactful sustainability initiatives are poised for broader deployment across Shinec's eco-industrial parks and other industrial parks in Vietnam. The launch of "Shinec Digital Green Economy" not only elevates the stature of Shinec and Nam Cau Kien IP within the Vietnamese and regional industrial park landscape but also builds significant credibility for its implementation partners, GGI Technology and TPIsoftware. It affirms their capacity to consult on and deliver advanced green technology solutions, contributing significantly to Vietnam's national sustainable development goals.
