Andhra Pradesh to use space tech to improve real-time governance
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that his government has entered into a strategic partnership with the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) to harness space technology for real-time, citizen-centric governance. The collaboration aims to significantly strengthen the state's Real Time Governance System (RTGS) by integrating satellite data and scientific insights into its digital infrastructure. The Chief Minister confirmed on Monday that the RTGS has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), a key ISRO facility located in Sriharikota. The agreement, signed in the presence of SHAR Director A Rajarajan, is focused on enhancing the capabilities of the AWARE (Andhra Pradesh Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Research Centre) platform, a technology-driven system designed to deliver actionable intelligence across a wide range of government services.advertisement'In a landmark step in leveraging space tech for real-time citizen-centric governance, a five-year MoU was signed between SHAR (ISRO) and RTGS today,' Naidu announced in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the Chief Minister, the AWARE platform will now receive regular inputs from satellite imagery and scientific data provided by SHAR. These enhancements will be applied across 42 key applications including agriculture, weather forecasting, disaster management, urban planning, and public safety.AWARE already consolidates data from multiple sources such as satellites, drones, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, environmental sensors, mobile phone feeds, and CCTV networks to generate real-time alerts and advisories. These are then disseminated to both citizens and government officials through SMS, WhatsApp, mainstream media, and social media channels.advertisementWritten by Rithu Pawar

People's revolution ended tyrannical rule: Andhra CM Naidu
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu commemorated the first anniversary of the TDP-led NDA government's landmark victory on June 4, 2024, describing it as a historic day in the State's political landscape. In a heartfelt message shared on X, Naidu hailed the triumph as a 'people's revolution' that ended what he termed 'tyrannical and psycho-governance', ushering in an era of freedom, peace, and democratic restoration for the State's citizens. The coalition, comprising the TDP, JSP and BJP, achieved a resounding victory in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. Naidu credited the success to the relentless efforts of TDP's 'yellow soldiers', JSP's activists, and the support of BJP workers, whom he collectively referred to as 'Kamal Nathas'. The coalition's win, he noted, was a mandate to rebuild the State that had suffered under what he described as 'governmental terrorism'. Reflecting on the past year, Naidu emphasised his government's commitment to fulfilling the people's aspirations. 'We have taken the mandate as a responsibility to reconstruct Andhra Pradesh,' he said, highlighting efforts to streamline governance, prioritise welfare initiatives, and accelerate development.

World Environment Day: 10 action points CIOs cannot ignore
Here are 10 actionable steps CIOs can take on World Environment Day to make a meaningful impact, aligned with both IT strategy and sustainability goals:Launch a Green IT Audit Assess the energy consumption of data centers, devices, and opportunities for server consolidation, virtualization, or moving to greener cloud providers. Optimize Cloud Usage Eliminate unused or underutilized cloud to cloud providers committed to renewable energy (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure with sustainability programs). Promote Device Lifecycle Management Extend hardware life with refurbishment instead of routine with e-waste recyclers for responsible disposal of outdated IT equipment. Support ESG Reporting with Real-Time Data Provide the infrastructure and tools for tracking emissions, resource consumption, and waste with sustainability officers to ensure accurate and auditable data. Push for Paperless Operations Digitize internal processes and document digital signatures, collaboration tools, and cloud-based file sharing. Commit to Green Procurement Choose vendors with strong environmental energy-efficient hardware (look for ENERGY STAR or EPEAT certifications). Embed Sustainability into AI/Analytics Optimize AI workloads to reduce compute analytics to track and reduce operational carbon emissions. Enable Smart Workplaces Invest in IoT-enabled energy management for offices (e.g., smart lighting, HVAC optimization).Support hybrid work to reduce travel emissions. Raise Awareness Across Teams Share a World Environment Day message with your IT a Green Tech Challenge—e.g., who can reduce their digital carbon footprint the most in a month? Set Measurable Sustainability Goals Define green IT KPIs (e.g., % reduction in energy use, cloud efficiency scores).Integrate them into quarterly CIO dashboards and reports.
