People's revolution ended tyrannical rule: Andhra CM Naidu
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu commemorated the first anniversary of the TDP-led NDA government's landmark victory on June 4, 2024, describing it as a historic day in the State's political landscape.
In a heartfelt message shared on X, Naidu hailed the triumph as a 'people's revolution' that ended what he termed 'tyrannical and psycho-governance', ushering in an era of freedom, peace, and democratic restoration for the State's citizens.
The coalition, comprising the TDP, JSP and BJP, achieved a resounding victory in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. Naidu credited the success to the relentless efforts of TDP's 'yellow soldiers', JSP's activists, and the support of BJP workers, whom he collectively referred to as 'Kamal Nathas'. The coalition's win, he noted, was a mandate to rebuild the State that had suffered under what he described as 'governmental terrorism'.
Reflecting on the past year, Naidu emphasised his government's commitment to fulfilling the people's aspirations. 'We have taken the mandate as a responsibility to reconstruct Andhra Pradesh,' he said, highlighting efforts to streamline governance, prioritise welfare initiatives, and accelerate development.

Palaniswami accuses Chief Minister Stalin of using delimitation as distraction
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of using the issue of delimitation of Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies as a distraction to 'cover up the failures and scams' of the DMK government. In a reply to the Chief Minister's post on his social media handle, Mr. Palaniswami urged Mr. Stalin to 'delimit' illicit liquor, rowdyism, corruption, and the 'arrogance and stranglehold' of his family on the State. As for delimitation, he reiterated that his party would 'never allow' Tamil Nadu's representation to be reduced or 'our voice to be silenced', a point he had made to Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah. Mr. Palaniswami, who contended that it was only in the DMK-led front that constituents, at the time of joining the bloc, had 'signed a charter of slavery', maintained that the people of the State were clear about the issues of delimitation and imposition of Hindi. They were 'only suffering from the loss' of livelihood, safety, and security.

Bihar has turned into 'crime capital of India', says Rahul Gandhi
RAJGIR/GAYAJI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday slammed the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar over the law and order situation, alleging that the state has turned into the "crime capital of India". Addressing the 'Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan' in Nalanda's Rajgir, Gandhi also took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "remaining silent" on US President Donald Trump's claims of brokering peace between India and Pakistan during the military conflict. "Bihar, once considered the land of peace and justice, has now turned into the crime capital of India," the former Congress president asserted. Gandhi also said he was apprehensive whether the Centre could properly conduct the caste census with no officers from the OBC, Dalit or tribal communities finalising the questionnaire. "The Modi government will never conduct a real caste census, because the day they conduct a real caste census, their politics will end. There are two models of caste census - a BJP model and the Telangana model. In the BJP model, officers will decide the questions in a closed room. No officers from the OBC, Dalit or tribal communities are there in the select group of officers", said Rahul Gandhi. Telangana is ruled by the Congress. "I am fighting for the caste census to save the Constitution and for the overall betterment of the we form government in future, we will remove the 50 per cent cap on reservations. It will start from Bihar," he said. "The PM used to say in every speech: 'I belong to OBC'. Then on the caste census, they say that there is no caste in India," Gandhi said. The Congress leader wondered how Narendra Modi became an OBC if there is no caste in the country.

TMC holds protest rally in Kolkata over BJP leaders' 'derogatory' remarks on West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee
The remarks by BJP leaders, according to the TMC, came in response to Mamata Banerjee's sharp rebuttal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent speech in Alipurduar, where he had referred to Operation Sindoor, while targeting the TMC government. Operation Sindoor was India's retaliatory strike on terror camps in Pakistan after the April 22 Pahalgam attack in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP, however, countered the TMC's charges, pointing to a recent purported audio clip in which senior TMC leader Anubrata Mondal is allegedly heard using abusive language during a phone conversation with a police officer. PTI couldn't independently verify the authenticity of the audio clip. "Who is TMC protesting against BJP leaders? Are they protesting against their very own Anubrata Mondal?" BJP MP Locket Chatterjee asked. "Let them first clean their own house," she said. BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul also took a dig at the TMC's women leaders, saying, "Before joining the protest rally, they should apologise to the wife and mother of inspector Liton Halder for the way Anubrata Mondal spoke to him." Reacting to the controversy, Kolkata Mayor and state minister Firhad Hakim said, "What Anubrata did is wrong. We will never support that. He has publicly apologised and appeared before the police." The TMC has maintained that Mondal's comments were not endorsed by the party and that he had already faced public and legal scrutiny for his actions.
