Child dies after school coach carrying more than 60 people crashes on day trip
The coach was carrying 60-70 passengers and was heading back to a nearby middle school in Minehead.
A local resident said the coach had gone off the road and down a slope.

Chief Superintendent Mark Edgington of Avon and Somerset Police told reporters that a child had died following the incident.
Speaking outside Bridgwater Police Centre, Mr Edgington said: 'A number of other people have presented or been taken to hospital, some with serious injuries.
'This includes two children who were taken to hospital by air ambulance, many passengers either sustained minor injuries or were physically unharmed and were transferred to a rest centre.
'Work to help them return to Minehead has been taking place throughout the evening.
'An investigation into the cause of this incident will be carried out.'
The crash happened on the A396 at Cutcombe Hill, between Wheddon Cross and Timbercombe, at about 3.15pm on Thursday, police said.

As the sun rose over the U.S. Steel Clairton plant on Tuesday morning, sadness hung in the air on this first day back to work since multiple explosions killed two people and injured at least 10. For many, it's business as usual on a rather unusual day. Some workers wanted to keep to themselves, while others wanted to talk about their friends and coworkers they had lost. It's the first day since the loss of 39-year-old Timothy Quinn and one more yet-to-be-identified employee. Steelworker Steven Bacho said he saw Quinn at work often. "(Quinn was the) nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. If there was somebody nobody got along with, he would get along with them," Bacho said. "He was in the same locker room as me so a lot," said Bacho. Bacho added that Quinn even mentored him, as he had 15 years' worth of work experience at the coke factory; Bacho only had seven. "(Quinn) was just that kind of guy. He'd do anything for you, show you anything you needed," said Bacho. He was needed at work in his position as a heater. Bacho explained that role in part and said, "They work on the batteries and keep the gases going, keep the ovens at the right temperature so the coke cooks." Outside of work, Quinn was deeply needed by his three children. For many, including Bacho, it's hard to find the words for this sudden loss. "It's a job, you know? You come here to provide for your family," Bacho said. Blue-collar workers also know the risks of this job. "Pay attention. Everybody wants to go home, that's all, with all their fingers and toes. Unfortunately, Tim is not," Bacho said, fighting back tears. However, it doesn't take away the hurt and the heartbreak of losing two co-workers. "It's heart-wrenching because you know the guys hurt, but it's something you do every day. Gotta keep going, for them, too," said Bacho.

Waterworld refutes claims tragic girl, 4, was in wave pool
Waterworld has refuted claims that a four-year-old girl who died had been in the wave pool. Staffordshire Police were called to reports of a four-year-old girl in a critical condition following an incident at Waterworld at Festival Park on Monday, August 8. The girl was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where she later died of her injuries. According to reports, the incident took place in the lagoon area of the park. Other parents have since come forward to say their children got into difficulty in the wave pool. However, Waterworld has confirmed no waves were operating at the time of the tragedy. We confirm that this incident did not take place in the Wave Pool, nor were the waves on at the time. "We have worked in full cooperation with the authorities during their investigations, resulting in them permitting Waterworld to re pen as normal from Wednesday August 6. Waterworld welcomes around 250,000 visitors per year and, as you can imagine, our safety procedures are extremely rigorous. "In relation to your quoted visitor's comments about the Wave Pool… An audible siren sounds every time the waves are about to start and the waves build up gradually after the siren. The only entrance to the Wave Pool is via the shallow end, with a sloped beach entry, giving guests full visibility and discretion over whether to enter with their children. "Safety has always been, and will remain, our top priority so that every visitor can enjoy their time at Waterworld Aqua Park."
