Car crash chaos as 'drag race' ends in wreckage in West Lothian
The incident took place on Saturday night.
Chaos ensued at a Scots car meet after two cars crashed into each other during a race, it's been claimed. The incident took place in West Lothian on Saturday night.
A Nissan 350z and a Volkswagen golf were involved in the smash, which took place at Broxburn Industrial Estate, following a gathering in Livingston.
Dozens gathered to watch as cars 'pulled stunts' outside a branch of KFC, before the 'drag race' took place at the industrial estate. Images show both cars wrecked as onlookers stand around.
Concerned resident Jonah Jones told Edinburgh Live: "A young lad who runs car meets and has done for two years hosted a massive meet in KFC in Livingston.
"He then hosted drag racing at Broxburn Industrial Estate. This led to two cars having a crash. The driver of the Volkswagen golf had children in the car.

"The driver of the 350z ended up going to hospital and has facial injuries. The golf locked up losing control and hit the 350z who was trying to exit the junction. Police were in attendance."
Car enthusiasts have been known to gather in Livingston. In February crowds gathered at Almondvale Retail Park and watched on as motors 'pulled stunts'.
Dozens also gathered outside Morrisons in Livingston back in January, spinning their wheels around the car park which was a blanket of snow and ice.
The car park is a popular spot with drivers to gather and pull stunts at night with some events attracting hundreds of participants and spectators from the surrounding area.

M&S security warning as customers told to make 'immediate' changes to online account
Shoppers who make online purchases with any retailer have been urged to make this "immediate" change. M&S shoppers have been urged to take immediate action with their online accounts. It comes just after the retailer restarted online orders after it was attacked by cyber criminals. Customers have been advised to exercise caution and update their online accounts before proceeding with any new transactions. This is because attackers employed a method known as 'credential stuffing', warns cyber security specialists. This technique is employed by cyber hackers to steal personal credentials from customers such as as email addresses, usernames, passwords, home addresses, and transaction histories, reports Birmingham Live. Cyber security guru and Shift Key Cyber co-founder Sarah Knowles said: "'Credential stuffing' is when attackers target customers who use the same password and username for multiple accounts. Once they have gained access to one site, they can then successfully replicate the method on other sites. "The primary motivation is financial, but it can also lead to identity theft." Sarah explained. "All M&S customers, in fact any customers of an online retailer that has been a victim of an attack - change your password immediately." "The hackers will look for people who haven't changed their password and could use this to steal your data. This needs to be the first step you take before making any online purchases." Sarah further advised: "Spend an hour reviewing all of the login details you've used when online shopping, and make sure none of them are the same across different retailers (including M&S). "If you can't remember where you do or don't have an account, checking your email can be a good place to start - by reviewing the retailer mailing lists you are on. Make sure you check your spam and junk folders too." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. Sarah advised: "What many people don't realise is that there are tools that will store all of your passwords, so you don't have to remember every single one. Password managers are built into most laptop, tablet and phone devices, so make sure you use them. "When setting up a new password, always use multifactor authentication if there is the option to. This means there is an extra layer of security, by using a secondary login method before actually signing in to your account," Sarah added. She continued: "The longer the password the better. You should aim to use a minimum of three random words to create your password. Do not use words such as a pet's name, favourite sport's team, date of birth or address. "These are all incredibly easy to hack and will put you at high risk of becoming a victim of an attack." It comes just after Marks and Spencer restarted all of its online shopper operations this week after the service was 'temporarily halted' on Friday, April 25, due to a major cyber attack from a gang known as Scattered Spider. It wasn't just online orders that were affected, as shoppers also noticed less stock on Food Hall shelves, with the retailer confirming that it also had to put a pause on some of its popular meal deals. The warning for online shoppers also follows a slew of ransomware attacks on major UK high street retailers from cyber criminals, with the Co-op and Harrods also being targeted by different groups of hackers.

The Golf GTI is now faster around the 'Ring that a Golf R...
The special iteration of the hot hatch lapped the famous 12.94-mile Nordschleife circuit in 7 minutes 46.13 seconds Open gallery Close The upcoming Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 special has become the fastest ever production-based VW model to lap the Nürburgring - even surpassing the more powerful and track-honed Golf R. The special iteration of the hot hatch, based on the current Golf GTI Mk8.5 (which is widely expected to be the final pure-combustion GTI before the badge moves into the electric era) , lapped the famous 12.94-mile Nordschleife circuit in 7 minutes 46.13 seconds. The record lap comes just over a week before the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours, where the GTI Edition 50 is planned to be officially unveiled on 20 June. While the special Golf won't reach UK showrooms until 2026, it's already made headlines for beating the Golf R 20 Years – and edging closer than ever to the 7 minutes 44.88 seconds front-wheel drive Nürburgring benchmark set by the Honda Civic Type R in 2023 In beating the four-wheel drive Golf R 20 Years – a 328bhp anniversary model that set a time of 7:47.31 in 2022 – the new front-drive GTI has now leapfrogged what was once considered Volkswagen's halo performance Golf model. The GTI Edition 50's lap was conducted by Benny Leuchter, VW's long-standing development and race driver. Speaking to Autocar after the run, Leuchter revealed that conditions were far from ideal: 'We ran in a very small window of opportunity after hours of rain,' he said. 'It was partly wet. The Fuchsröhre was particularly treacherous, and there was standing water on many other parts of the circuit.' While full technical details of the Edition 50 remain under wraps, the record car was fitted with a Performance Package, which included Bridgestone Potenza Race semi-slicks on 19-inch forged Warmenau wheels and a revised suspension setup. These components are expected to be optional extras when the car goes on sale in late 2025. Power output hasn't been confirmed, but it's understood the Edition 50 will produce close to 320bhp from its familiar turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder EA888 petrol engine, paired with a seven speed dual clutch gearbox and a mechanical limited-slip differential. Leuchter emphasised that the record-setting car wasn't a one-off: 'Technically, it was set up exactly as it will be sold to customers,' he said.
