Jeff Bezos Reportedly 'Obsessed' With Casting Wife Lauren Sánchez In Major Role In Amazon MGM's New ‘James Bond': 'This Isn't Just Fantasy Casting'

Yahoo12 hours ago
The James Bond reboot is certainly shaping up to be an interesting project.
A new report claims Amazon boss Jeff Bezos has already set his sights on the next Bond girl: His new wife, Lauren Sánchez.
The pair recently married in June in a star-studded Venetian wedding but it looks like Bezos wants to make it official on the silver screen as well by casting her in Amazon MGM's upcoming James Bond reboot. A new report claims Bezos has become 'obsessed' with the idea of casting her in a major role.
'He's obsessed,' said a Hollywood insider, per Rob Shuter's newsletter. 'This isn't just fantasy casting — Jeff wants her on screen, period.'
The report claims Bezos is looking to have Sánchez 'front and center' in the film.
'She's not an actress,' a studio exec said. 'But she's Jeff's muse, and when you spend $8 billion, you get what you want.'
The $8 billion in question is the whopping price Bezos paid for MGM Studios when Amazon purchased the company back in 2021, which means Bezos will have considerable pull in the new reboot.
It's possible that Sánchez – or even Bezos, for that matter – will make a cameo appearance in the reboot, similar to Elon Musk meeting Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man in Iron Man 2. But casting her in a major role could put a hug damper in an installment that could breathe new life into the franchise.
Bond 26 is slated to be a total reboot of the franchise after Daniel Craig's final installment, 2021's No Time To Die. Dune director Denis Villeneuve is attached to direct with Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight writing the screenplay.
Several of Hollywood's most dashing young actors have reportedly been in the running for the main role, including Harris Dickinson, Jacob Elordi, Regé-Jean Page, Tom Holland, and more.
But Bezos may have a final say in that matter, as well. The internet exploded after Bezos asked X users, 'Who'd you pick as the next Bond?'
Bond 26 has a tentative release date set for 2028.

Wrexham smashes its transfer record by signing Broadhead in a deal worth up to $13.5M

Wrexham's spending moved into a new stratosphere Thursday when the team owned by Hollywood celebrities signed winger Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich in a club-record deal that could reportedly reach 10 million pounds ($13.50 million). It took the Welsh club's outlay in the transfer market to more than 20 million pounds ($27 million) in this window as Wrexham reshapes its squad for life in the second-tier Championship following an unprecedented three straight promotions. The 27-year-old Wales international is a former Wrexham academy player and a versatile forward who was a fringe player at Ipswich in the Premier League last season. 'He's a local boy who had a real desire to come and play for his hometown club," Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said in the team's announcement. Among Wrexham's other signings over the last couple of months is former England defender Conor Coady and New Zealand international Liberato Cacace. Lewis O'Brien also joined from Nottingham Forest for what was reportedly a club-record fee of around 3 million pounds ($4 million). Wrexham, which started its Championship campaign last weekend with a 2-1 loss at Southampton after conceding two late goals, is owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and has gained outside investment via the New York-based Allyn family. It is also the subject of the Emmy-winning 'Welcome to Wrexham' documentary, which takes viewers behind the scenes at the club and has boosted the team's global appeal primarily because of the presence of Reynolds. ___ AP soccer:

It may still be summer, but fall is around the corner. Typically, this would make me call out of work for a 'self-care' day where I could lounge at a rooftop pool, but then I remember that I shop for a living and can spend an entire day searching clothes for fall. Insider tip: Shopping for things out of season is one of the best times to find items on sale. Take this PRETTYGARDEN Women's Oversized Cardigan, for example — currently 33% off at Amazon. Its slouchy fit and open front give celeb-off-duty vibes, and it never hurts to have another fashion basic in one's closet. Amazon Sweater weather just became less anxiety-inducing, thanks to this sale on the PRETTYGARDEN Oversized Cardigan. Made from a poly-blend, it's lightweight, stretchy and features a drapey fit that's been forecasted to be everywhere this September. The open front makes it easy to wear in place of a jacket, and it can easily be paired with jeans, leggings or even loungewear, if you're into the understated, street-style aesthetic. The cardigan comes in 20 different styles, and has been highly rated by Amazon shoppers for its weight, quality and softness. 'This is the perfect oversized, chunky, soft cardigan,' one reviewer gushed. 'It's perfect for lounging around or [dressing up] during fall or winter.' Whenever I find items like the PRETTYGARDEN Oversized Cardigan, I remember why I love my job. A trendy but functional fashion staple on sale? Of course, I'm grabbing one and telling others to do the same. It's perfect for the office or when you need something to make you look more put together when running to class or the corner store. And with all the neutral colors it comes in, I can almost guarantee you have at least five other items that go with it. While it's already affordable at $44, there's no arguing that at $30, it's a definite deal. In the name of fall and back-to-school season, I'm going to be smart and add two to my cart before the sale ends.
