The Rolling Stones Debut A New Album — One That's Already Become A Hit

The Rolling Stones' Exile on Main St. debuts on several U.K. charts after becoming a bestseller ... More again, appearing on three rankings more than 50 years after its release. The music of the Rolling Stones is so popular that some classic collections have returned to the charts in the United Kingdom more than once. Typically, re-releases and special editions are grouped together with the original title, so when a group reissues a project or when sales or streaming activity spikes, it benefits the first edition — and that movement can send a title back onto the weekly rankings. In other cases across the Atlantic, special circumstances allow multiple versions of what is essentially the same album to spend time on the same chart.
That's exactly what's happened with the Rolling Stones this frame, as Exile on Main St. becomes a bestseller on multiple tallies yet again — and also for the first time.
Exile on Main St. debuts on three charts in the U.K. this week. It launches highest on the Official Vinyl Albums ranking — the only tally on which it becomes a top 40 bestseller — as it starts at No. 33. The same project enters the Official Physical Albums chart at No. 76 and the Official Albums Sales list at No. 81.
Longtime fans of the Stones who keep an eye on where the group lands on the charts will know that Exile on Main St. has appeared on all three of these tallies in the past, though this appearance does still mark a debut.
Exile on Main St. first appeared on any of these lists 15 years ago, when it reached the Official Physical Albums chart, which tracks purchases of CDs, vinyl, and cassettes across the U.K. The Rolling Stones sent the title straight to No. 1 on that ranking.
Another, earlier take of the music arrived on the Official Vinyl Albums ranking in May 2016, spending just three frames on the list and peaking at No. 4. Two years later, it landed on the all-encompassing sales tally, which blends digital downloads with purchases on all physical formats. Somewhat disappointingly, it only held on for one turn at No. 52 before disappearing.
The original Exile on Main St. hit the Official Albums Chart — the main albums ranking in the nation — in the summer of 1972. It quickly gave the band another champion and spent 16 weeks on the list, which at the time was based entirely on sales.
The fact that the Official Charts Company didn't launch tallies dedicated to standalone purchases — or charts that focus on specific types of sales, like one format over another — also helps explain how some classic releases can debut on rankings decades after their initial heyday.
The Rolling Stones recently reissued Exile on Main St. on a special red vinyl, as the band does from time to time with some of its most popular projects. Only 2,000 copies were made available globally, and the offering was first sold in the band's London-based store, before going online as well. That uptick in sales helps the beloved project become a bestseller again in the U.K.

The Art Of Summer Suiting With Infamous London Tailors Edward Sexton

Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger and his wife Bianca, shortly after their wedding ceremony in St Tropez. (Photo by) Getty Images Now, in time for dashing summer escapades, Dominic Sebag-Montefiore, Creative Director of Edward Sexton has shared his guide to summer tailoring. Start with the right cloth and you will look and feel great. If you are going to be wearing tailoring in the warmer weather fabric selection is key. Linen is dry and porous, so it keeps you feeling fresh, but has a tendency to crease, so best kept for more relaxed occasions, evenings out, holidays and events, but not so much in an air-conditioned boardroom. Linen will keep you cool, but it has no natural stretch, so if you go too fitted it can feel restrictive and uncomfortable. High twisted open weave wools are excellent; they are woven using twisted yarns of wool that are constantly trying to untwist, so they do not crease easily. This means you can create a lighter cloth that resists creasing. Having an open weave allows air to pass through. We work with some fantastic mills that have perfected this technique. But these clothes are great for the warm weather and travelling. Some of the high twist fabrics can be flowing and drapey and others can be firmer and hold their shape. A good tailor should be able to tell you which are which and what would work best for your figure and the style of garment you want. Edward Sexton campaign shot by Jonathan Daniel Price Edward Sexton In summer, you don't need to commit to a full three-piece suit or shorts and a linen shirt. There is a lot of room to play. Loose-fitting tailored trousers in a flowing fabric can be great dressed down. A light, unstructured suit worn with a t-shirt or linen shirt can be easy and elegant. A structured jacket can add a touch of formality to a pair of trousers and an open shirt, and makes a great layer if the temperature drops as the sun goes down. Feel Good, Look Good How you feel in your clothes has as much of an impact as the quality and fit on how you look and how well you function in them. This may be about how soft or rough the fabric is, it could also be a psychological association with the brand, it could be how well suited to the weather you are going to be in the clothes. It could be how the cut of the clothes make you stand. The right clothes will feel right. Don't think it see how clothes feel on. Edward Sexton campaign shot by Jonathan Daniel Price Edward Sexton Classics Are Classics For A Reason A good classic is, classic. This is not to be ignored or dismissed, but get it right and you will have an awesome piece for years, until you get bored of it, then put it away and wait 10 years (don't put on or lose weight) and you will fall in love with it again. Quality, construction and colour are imperative. Key classics for summer: white linen suit or just the trousers if the suit is too much; a navy high twist blazer can be worn with the white linen trousers for a riviera look. A navy mohair blend suit for when you want to look impeccable but not too heavy, dark chocolate brown linen suit, a real suit wearer's summer suit in Irish linen, of course. Get them right and you will feel and look a million dollars in them even when they are old and worn in. They will get character like a pair of indigo denim jeans. Meet Your Needs - Go Bespoke Whether you know them or not, get all of your needs from your clothing met. A good bespoke tailor will sit down with you and want to understand how you want to feel in your clothes, what context and climate you are going to wear them in and build garments that flawlessly flatter your physique and meet your needs, or tell you when they can't all be met. Get the expert consultation and then something handmade for you and your lifestyle. Edward Sexton campaign shot by Jonathan Daniel Price Edward Sexton See more on

Trailer for Cillian Murphy's STEVE, About a Headteacher Fighting for His Students and Himself — GeekTyrant

Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for Steve , a gripping drama starring Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy, and it's based on Max Porter's 2023 Sunday Times bestseller Shy . Steve reimagines the story from the perspective of the reform school's headteacher. Porter, who also penned the script and serves as executive producer, shifts the focus to Murphy's character, an impassioned educator trying to hold his school together against mounting pressures. Tim Mielants, who recently directed Murphy in Small Things Like These , returns to helm this project. The drama is set in the mid-1990s and follows 'a pivotal day in the life of Murphy's eponymous character and his students at a last-chance reform school amidst a world that has forsaken them. As Steve fights to protect the school's integrity while also fighting its impending closure, he grapples with his own mental health. 'In parallel to Steve's struggles, troubled teen Shy (Jay Lycurgo) is caught between his past and what lies ahead as he tries to reconcile his inner fragility with his impulse for self-destruction and violence.' Murphy calls Steve 'one of the most kind of exposing and terrifying characters I've ever played,' teasing the emotional depth and vulnerability audiences can expect. The cast also features Tracey Ullman, Simbi Ajikawo (aka Little Simz), and Emily Watson. With its raw character work, political undercurrents, and tense one-day structure, Steve looks ready to deliver a potent mix of personal drama and social commentary. The movie set to make its world premiere at next month's Toronto International Film Festival in the Platform strand. The film will hit select theaters on September 19 before streaming on Netflix October 3.

Lana Del Rey Joins Adele In A Historic Chart Feat

Lana Del Rey has been teasing her upcoming album for more than a year now, but details about the project remain scarce. The singer-songwriter has mentioned multiple titles and then changed her mind with all of them. She also at first claimed that it would be a country record, and then decided it would be more in the vein of an American Gothic vibe. Several singles have emerged and even charted, but for the moment, fans still don't know what the project is called or when they'll get to hear the full-length. As they wait to learn more, Americans are continuously consuming Born to Die, Del Rey's breakout project. Well over a decade after its release, the title can still be found on multiple Billboard charts, and this week it hits a major milestone. Born to Die Reaches a Billboard 200 Milestone Born to Die dips two spots on the Billboard 200, landing at No. 117. The title, which Luminate reports moved another 11,400 equivalent units during the most recent tracking period, celebrates 600 weeks on the Billboard 200, the company's ranking of the biggest albums and EPs in the U.S. Lana Del Rey Joins Adele Only 18 albums have spent at least 600 weeks on the Billboard 200. Born to Die is just the second by a solo female artist to make it to that landmark figure. Del Rey comes in behind Adele's 21, which racked up 617 stays on the tally. Unlike Born to Die, however, 21 doesn't regularly appear on the Billboard 200, so in the coming months, Del Rey may pass Adele's globe-dominating full-length. Pink Floyd Continues to Lead The record for the longest stay on the Billboard 200 is still held by Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. That title only needs 10 more stints on the list before it becomes the first 1,000-week charter. Next time around, when Billboard publishes its rankings again, Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers will likely become only the second 900-week winner ever. Lana Del Rey Rises on Multiple Billboard Charts As Born to Die hits an incredible figure on the Billboard 200, the title climbs on the other two Billboard rankings where it can be found. Del Rey's breakout set lifts one spot to No. 13 on the Top Alternative Albums chart and three spaces to No. 27 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums tally.
