Parineeta Re-Release: Makers Unveil New Trailer Of Saif Ali Khan, Vidya Balan And Sanjay Dutt's Film In 8K Restored Version
Pradeep Sarkar's Parineeta, led by Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, and Sanjay Dutt, was released in theatres on June 10, 2005. As the film celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025, which also marks 20 years of Vidya Balan, the film is all set to re-release in theatres on August 29, 2025. The film has been restored in a stunning 8K version by Prasad Film Labs, bringing its rich visuals and evocative storytelling back to the big screen.

To celebrate the milestone year for Parineeta, the film is returning to the big screen in a restored 8K version by Prasad Film Labs. A brand new trailer has been unveiled, celebrating the film's timeless appeal, soulful music, and the nostalgia of a bygone era.
Talking about the new trailer, Vidya Balan said, "I remember listening to Piyu Bole for the first time; even then, I knew it was something special. There was a softness to it, a kind of innocence that I guess mirrored how I was feeling at the time - new, unsure, and quietly hopeful. Watching the trailer now, that melody brought back memories...shooting of the scenes with (Dada) Pradeep Da screaming instructions from behind the monitor and how he'd act out moments and expect us to follow. His walk as a woman in my scenes always cracked me up... I'd be like, ' Dada, you don't need to teach me how to walk!' Haha... I guess I wasn't aware of the camera; I was just living those moments. I truly couldn't have asked for a more beautiful debut. That kind of purity... the magic of a first... Uff, Parineeta is full of that because it marked the first for many of us... and that's something I'll always hold close."
Adding to this, Sanjay Dutt said, "Girish was my first Bengali character, and I was very happy to play it. I love the Bengali culture. Girish was a quiet guy, but a lot is going on underneath, and I really connected with that. Pradeep Dada was solid; he was always there to guide me through every beat of the script. I love him and miss him. I was happy that Vinod offered me the film, as I have had a very successful association with him. He is family. Some scenes might look simple now, but they weren't easy at all. Watching the trailer today brought everything back twenty years later. Parineeta was never just another film for me. It was made with a lot of heart and a lot of love, and that's why even two decades on, it has a special place in everyone's heart."
About Parineeta
Vidya Balan plays the role of Lolita, who lives with her financially unstable Uncle. Since childhood, she has had feelings for her next-door neighbour, Shekhar, played by Saif Ali Khan.
Shekhar's father, Navinchandra (Sabyasachi Chakraborty), is a wealthy but heartless businessman. Lolita soon discovers that Navinchnadra wants to seize her uncle's home and convert it into a hotel. She decides to seek help from the wealthy businessman Girish Sharma (Sanjay Dutt). However, misunderstandings arise when Shekhar suspects romance brewing between Lolita and Girish.

Speaking exclusively to IANS, the singer shared his thoughts on the language row, saying that everyone should have the freedom to work across the country, regardless of linguistic differences. Sanu remarked that the ability to pick up a language depends on an individual's capacity and interest, and that it should not become a barrier to professional opportunities. He shared, 'I don't want to say anything about the language. The national language of our country. Everybody has the right to work in any place. Language should come or not depends on their quality…how much they grab it. It depends on how much they can speak or not. I think it's okay.' After watching 'Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway', many in the audience felt that it was one of Rani Mukerji's finest performances. And months later, on Friday, the actor was honoured with Best Actress at the 71st National Awards. The film's director, Ashima Chibber, in an exclusive chat with India Today, admitted that the moment Rani said yes to her, she knew it was going to be the 'IT' film for her, one that would win every an exclusive chat with us, Ashima Chibber said, "When the script and actor are married, magic happens. Even before the announcement, I messaged her 'Party kidhar hai?' because I was so confident. When an actor is announced as the winner, it means the most to the director as it's such a validation for everyone's work."Chibber added that while Rani's phone remained busy for a long time after the announcement, they finally got on a call, and the actor told her how unreal it felt. "I told her it was cosmic or something bigger than that. This award had her name written all along," the director said. Praising the actor, Ashima Chibber added that Rani has outperformed in every film but absolutely hit it out of the park with 'Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway'. Her performance also reached international shores as the filmmaker revealed getting emails and messages from across the globe about the film. "They were so moved by the story and Rani's performance. It's an accomplishment of an actor to be able to portray the role in such a way that it crosses boundaries, borders, generations and lifetimes. I call it a privilege for a director to get an actor who has that strength."Given that the lead part was a Bengali, Rani Mukerji fit naturally, but we wondered if she was the first choice. To this, the director said that she could only see her doing the part. "The story was written by Rahul and Sameer, and when I read it, I could only see her. Rani has done some wonderful roles, but I felt that I wanted to see her as this mother, fighting for her children. Those expressions, those emotions – the world had not yet explored them. And since I had already worked with YRF, she did know about me. She took a couple of days to read the script but said yes instantly. I think she's also one of the most intelligent actors we have. She's sharp, razor sharp as a blade. She got the character perfectly," she Chibber also weighed in on the social media conversation that both Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan received this honour quite late in their careers. She mentioned how both of them have done some phenomenal work and shown a wide range in their performances. "It's late, but not too late. This is a huge recognition for both of them. They are the pillars of our industry. And who's replacing them? They can't be. Given his experience as a director and producer, everything became so smooth for the entire team," she also shared that post 'Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway', her career saw a different high, as she got calls from biggest producers in the industry. "You sort of jump into the bigger league as more people start seeing your craft, especially in the international market. I was also jumping genres. To make that transition and to have producers say, this is a special kind of craft. For me, that was my very big gift from the film."On a final note, we also asked Ashima Chibber if she's in touch with Sagarika Chakraborty, on whom the film is based.
