Scania Is Not Giving Up on Northvolt Despite Supplier's Bankruptcy
Volkswagen AG 's truckmaker Scania continues to receive cells from Northvolt AB as the Swedish battery maker fights for survival under an ongoing bankruptcy process.
'We currently, since quite some time, receive the cells we order, which is really good,' Scania Chief Executive Officer Christian Levin said in an interview Monday. Several of his workers have been dispatched to Northvolt's Skelleftea site to bolster the ramp-up there, and the companies are 'basically talking every day.'

FAW-Volkswagen to produce two new NEV models in Tianjin
FAW-Volkswagen, one of Volkswagen AG's main Chinese joint ventures, revealed plans to produce two new electric vehicle models based on its newly-developed Compact Main Platform (CMP) at its plant in Tianjin from 2027. The news follows the unveiling of three new passenger vehicle concept models based on its CMP - the and - at the Auto Shanghai 2025 show in April. The production plans were revealed following the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between FAW-Volkswagen and the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) government. The models will be designed specifically for the Chinese market, featuring the latest electrification and connected technologies. FAW-Volkswagen's Tianjin plant has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units. FAW-Volkswagen pointed out that the CMP platform represents 'a new generation of architecture independently developed in China at 'China speed' for tech-savvy local consumers.' The automaker claims to have shortened the development cycle for CMP-based vehicles by over 30% to keep up with fast-evolving competition in the local market. CMP-based models will include both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid drivetrains and will feature AI-powered cockpits, advanced driver-assistance systems, and over-the-air updates. Last month FAW-Volkswagen announced an internal restructuring programme in relation to its Volkswagen and Jetta brands, which have lost significant market share in China over the last several years as they struggled to keep up with the fast-growing NEV segment. Naran, the CEO of luxury aviation brokerage Vimana Private Jets, parked the ultra-rare Swedish hypercar on Derry Street, just outside the trendy Dishoom restaurant in West London. Moments later, a Kensington and Chelsea traffic warden issued a bright yellow parking charge notice (PCN), placing it squarely on the carbon-fiber bonnet of the car—an image quickly shared online. With a fine of up to £160 (reduced to £80 if paid within two weeks), the penalty is a small price to pay compared to the Jesko's jaw-dropping $3 million valuation. Powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8, the Jesko produces 1,280 horsepower on standard fuel—or up to 1,600 hp on E85—and is capable of reaching 62 mph in under three seconds.
