Jurgen Klopp: Parade should have been one of great days in Liverpool's history
A 53-year-old white, British man from West Derby has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs after dozens of people were injured by a car on Water Street, close to the end of the route.
Klopp, who attended Sunday's Premier League game against Crystal Palace and watched Monday's parade from near to where the incident occurred, said that had destroyed 'one of the greatest days in the history of the city', after he was inducted into the League Managers Association Hall of Fame 1,000 Club on Tuesday.

'It should have been one of the greatest days in the history of the city, after a long time because we didn't have the opportunity to do it last time,' said the German, whose 2020 Premier League winners were denied a similar celebration due to Covid restrictions.
'It just showed the two faces of life. The most beautiful face for a long time: the parade was incredible, the mood was incredible.
'And from one second to another everything changed and we learned again there are more serious things in the world than football.
'Thoughts and prayers go to the injured people and their families as well. I don't know how and why it happened but we know what happened and that's very bad.'

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk wrote on Instagram: 'My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. Praying for a speedy recovery for everyone who suffered injuries. We are all with you.'
Van Dijk's team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was born and grew up in West Derby close to the club's former Melwood training ground, expressed his sympathies on Instagram, adding: 'The city will continue to pull together as it always does.'
Fellow Scouser and former captain Steven Gerrard wrote on Instagram he was 'shocked, sickened, and saddened'.

Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan, who paid tribute to the emergency services and hospital staff, said in a video posted on the club's website: 'This weekend was one of celebration, emotion and joy spread across the city in our entire fan base and it ended in unimaginable scenes of distress with this appalling incident.
'I would also like to thank our supporters who witnessed this event and helped each other where they could.
'We continue to work with the emergency services and the local authorities to support their ongoing investigation and once again we would ask if anyone has any further information about the incident, please contact Merseyside Police.'
The King said he had been 'deeply shocked and saddened', adding: 'It is truly devastating to see that what should have been a joyous celebration for many could end in such distressing circumstances.
'At this heartbreaking time for the people of Liverpool, I know that the strength of community spirit for which your city is renowned will be a comfort and support to those in need.
'Our prayers and deepest sympathy are with all those who have been affected, and my special gratitude goes out to the first responders, emergency services personnel and other individuals who rushed to the aid of the injured.'
The Prince and Princess of Wales said they were 'deeply saddened' by the scenes.

William, who is patron of the Football Association, and his wife Kate said in a personal message on social media: 'What should have been a joyful celebration ended with tragedy.
'Our thoughts are with those who were injured and to the first responders and emergency services on the ground.'
The Prime Minister said he was in close contact with Liverpool metro mayor Steve Rotheram about the incident, adding: 'Scenes of joy turned to utter horror and devastation and my thoughts and the thoughts of the whole country are with all of those that are affected, those injured, which of course includes children, their families, their friends, the whole community, Liverpool fans everywhere.'

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken about the club's squad planning ahead of next season amid speculation over stars about to enter the final year of their contracts Pep Guardiola has confirmed Manchester City goalkeepers Ederson and Stefan Ortega will remain with the club next season. The Catalan coach revealed the Premier League side appear unlikely to dip into the market to improve their options in net. Ederson and Ortega have shared the net at the Etihad Stadium for a number of years, with the former taking the no.1 slot for Guardiola's side. The duo are both set to enter the final year of their contracts however, increasing speculation that a change could soon be on the cards in goal at City. City have little time for rest before they are called upon for Club World Cup duty. Their first match takes place against Wydad AC on June 18. There is an opportunity to move for new players, with a transfer window open until June 10 but Guardiola appears content with his options for the moment. Though goalkeeper was an area of discussion with the club's hierarchy. "We have spoken about the situation regarding squad planning and the two goalkeepers we have will continue," Guardiola told reporters at a golf event in Catalonia on Monday. That did not prevent the ex-Bayern Munich boss being taken to task over Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia. The shotstopper saw an approach by Arsenal last summer, while Barcelona appear to be in pole position for his signature this year, despite reported interest from the Gunners and City. "Joan Garcia is a really good goalkeeper, but City are linked with 500 players in every transfer window," Guardiola said. "He's an Espanyol player and I don't know what happen, but I'm told by the Espanyol guys [playing in the golf event] he's an extraordinary goalkeeper. The references we have are very good." The screenplay, penned by Joe Penhall, Duncan Campbell, and Mark Seal, brings to life the notorious Hatton Garden safe deposit burglary - a heist carried out over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend in April 2015 by a band of seasoned elderly criminals. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Michael Caine, Tom Courtenay, Michael Gambon, Francesca Annis, Charlie Cox, Jim Broadbent, Paul Whitehouse and Ray Winstone. It tells the tale of a group of retired crooks (and one young alarms expert) who plan and pull off a daring robbery in London's jewellery quarter during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. However, their final big score quickly descends into chaos as greed takes hold. Despite its stellar cast and gripping real-life story, King of Thieves failed to make a significant impact either commercially or critically. Box Office Mojo reports that the film only raked in $7,518 domestically in the United States and Canada, with just $3,502 earned during its opening weekend. Globally, the film grossed around $11.5 million at the box office, reports the Daily Record. The film's scenes were predominantly shot in central London and around Margate in Kent, showcasing venues like the Wig and Pen Pub, the Nayland Rock Hotel, Harbour Arm, outside Turner Contemporary, and Margate railway station. Additionally, one can spot Abbott's Cliff in Dover during the train sequence when Brian Reader (played by Michael Caine) heads to Margate. Both critics and audiences seemed underwhelmed by how the film was brought to life. Echoing the sentiment, a critic wrote: "The Hatton Gardens heist was a ballsy operation. You can't say the same about King of Thieves." Another reviewer pointed out: "King of Thieves really should have delivered way more cinematic swag than it does." Meanwhile, a commentator dissected the film's tone: "Torn between jaunty genre hijinks and a bleaker streak of realism, it's a strangely stiff, lethargic account of a cracking tale." The stinging critiques continued with a reviewer saying: "There is one joke in King of Thieves, and it's that the thieves are old. That's it-that's the whole movie," while another lamented: "Marsh had his hands on some very fancy jewels. What he didn't have, sadly, was the script to make them gleam." The audience feedback was similarly tepid, with one viewer saying: "Passes the time but little else. Tries hard to be both a comedy and a thriller but doesn't really succeed at either. For such a daring burglary, this could have surely been done a lot better." Another cinema-goer likened the film to the bungled robbery it portrays, adding: "Based on a real account of a robbery in London and featuring a superb all British cast. Very much like the botched heist, the plot here is in shambles all over the place." A different viewer didn't mince their words expressing their disappointment, saying: "It's poorly written. The heist isn't that exciting. The humour isn't funny." Meanwhile, another audience member remarked: "Not a gripping tale. At times the audience were laughing - was this supposed to be a comedy? ? ? Difficult to remember the names of the was who? "Undoubtedly the royalty of British male actors but the story was weak. It could have been much better if there was character and story development of the Police activity pitted against the perpetrators. Shame - not worth a look."
