While the YES Network broadcast was in full misery mode watching the Yankees melt down Friday night, the Marlins' broadcast crew one booth over was taking a victory lap.
Tommy Hutton, the analyst on the FanDuel Sports Marlins telecast, perhaps took some exception to the amount of Yankees fans that showed up in South Beach and let it be known after Jose Caballero's error tied the game at 12-12 in the ninth inning.

'Give me a couple of more looks like that!' Hutton said, as the broadcast cut to a Yankees fan doing a full surrender cobra. 'Come on, give 'em to me. Thanks for coming, though!'

The Marlins won the game, 13-12, shortly thereafter on Agustin Ramirez's swinging bunt, which scored Xavier Edwards from third.

It was the first time since 1940 that the Yankees scored 12 runs on the road and lost, as they blew leads of 6-0, 9-4 and 12-10, respectively.

Making it even worse was that four different trade deadline acquisitions played central roles in the disaster.

Pitchers Jake Bird, David Bednar and Camilo Doval combined to give up nine runs in 2 1/3 innings, while Caballero allowed a base hit in the ninth inning to go under his glove and all the way to the wall, with two runs scoring and Edwards getting to third.

For the Marlins, who have had a solid couple months since starting the season poorly, it's a signature moment in a year that will almost assuredly end after 162 games.

They enter Saturday's game seven games behind the Padres for the third and final wild card spot.
So, no surprise that the broadcast team was particularly excited.

Paul Goldschmidt has helmed first base well for the Yankees this year, but is on a one-year, $12.5 million contract and is set to be a free agent after this season. Goldschmidt is 37 years old and is not getting any younger. Though he is a seven-time All-Star, he will not be New York's long-term option at first base. That is where the three-time batting champion Luis Arráez steps in. Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller predicts that the Yankees will sign Arráez to a six-year deal this offseason. "Luis Arráez has won three consecutive batting titles and could be in the mix for a fourth if Will Smith either fades down the stretch or even fails to make enough plate appearances to qualify, which he is barely on pace to do," Miller wrote. "But Arráez doesn't draw walks, hit home runs, steal bases or play great defense, making it tough to see anyone giving him a $20M AAV. If he's reaching $100M total, it's probably going to need to be at least a seven-year deal. Arráez certainly is not a power hitter, but he consistently gets on base. The 28-year-old has a career average of .319 and is slashing .298/.333/.740 this season and has only struck out 12 times in 430 at-bats.
