This comes as a collaboration between AEW and CMLL, the popular lucha libre promotion based in Mexico. For AEW, this will mark their first company event to ever be held in the country of Mexico. The same remains the case for Will Ospreay, who has especially been eager to perform in Arena Mexico.
'I have been waiting for this moment for so long!!!' Ospreay wrote on X (formerly Twitter) following the announcement.
The Grand Slam television series began in Queens, New York in 2021. The city remained the sole destination for Grand Slam over the next three years. In February 2025, though, it branched out to the city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, marking AEW's first ever show in the respective country. Now, Grand Slam will return to North America for its debut showing in Mexico.

Coco Gauff Reveals Size Of French Open Replica Trophy
Whether you're a fan of tennis or not, you've probably heard that two of Gen Z's brightest sports stars, Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz, came out on top at Roland-Garros this weekend, claiming their second and fifth Grand Slam victories, respectively. Along with the glory (and a pretty significant chunk of prize money), the winners of the French Open are presented with massive, shiny trophies on court, which they pose for tons of pictures with, as seen here. And here. Oh, and here's another one. So, given how cozy they're getting with those trophies, you'd think they'd get to keep them for a little while. Eat some cereal out of them, maybe? Well, you'd be wrong — they don't even get to take them home at all. Being the true Gen Z icon that she is, 21-year-old Coco filmed a TikTok on her flight back from Paris on Sunday, giving fans the tea on the trophy situation — and it's safe to say that people are pretty underwhelmed by the reality. 'This is the trophy that you guys see, the one that we take pictures with, do press with, and all that,' she said, gesturing to a picture of her posing with the fancy silverware. 'But, actually, we don't get to take this home. This stays with the tournament.' Unveiling the trophy that she actually gets to keep, Coco pulled out a smaller replica — and we're talking MUCH smaller. 'This is the one we take home. It's like a mini replica of the trophy,' she said, raising it above her head to compare just how much smaller it is. 'It's… really small.' If you weren't already convinced, Coco then put the mini trophy next to a Perrier bottle and a water glass for scale. 'That's how small it is,' she said, giggling. 'But, you know, it's the memories that matter the most.' She also hilariously included a side-by-side of her hugging the big trophy vs. the smaller one, and…you just have to laugh. If you're a tennis fan, you'll know that this is hardly a secret. The same thing typically happens at the other Grand Slam tournaments, too, like Wimbledon, for example, where the winners get to pose with the big fancy trophy at the presentation ceremony before giving it back to the venue and receiving a replica instead. Coco isn't the only tennis player to have discussed this either. If you want to see a ton of the replica winners' trophies, look no further than Serena Williams' trophy room tour for Architectural Digest. But, despite this being public knowledge, it's safe to say that fans are a little taken aback — and definitely amused — by the whole thing. As someone rightfully pointed out, the smaller the trophies, the easier it is to store them — and I'm sure there are many more on the way for Coco and Carlos. See you at Wimbledon!

Coco Gauff's French Open title came with a trophy she wasn't expecting
Coco Gauff's French Open title came with a trophy she wasn't expecting Show Caption Hide Caption Jessica Pagula on accomplished Coco Gauff, Emma Navarro, Madison Keys Tennis player Jessica Pegula discusses how amazing it is to have other amazing American women in tennis dominating the sport. Sports Seriously Coco Gauff said the French Open was a championship she always wanted to win, so much so that she believes her come-from-behind finals win over world No. 1 Arya Sabalenka at Roland Garros last Saturday was meant to be. The best American women's tennis player since Serena Williams just didn't realize the trophy she grew up seeing on television isn't the one the winner gets -- and "it's really small," Gauff said. As Gauff celebrated her second Grand Slam tournament win in recent days, she has also made sure to show off the miniature French Open trophy she got as a prize. In a video posted to her TikTok account from a private jet coming back to the United States from France, Gauff explained that the trophy she was pictured with after defeating Sabalenka remained with the tournament. The 21-year-old then revealed the smaller version she got to bring home and compared it to a small Perrier water bottle and a glass to demonstrate its size. "It's like a mini replica of the trophy and I guess to compare it, it's really small," Gauff said. "... but it's the memories that matter the most." OPINION: Coco Gauff showcases her unrivaled fortitude in grueling French Open triumph Gauff became the first American since Williams to win the French Open, and it comes three years after she took a humbling defeat to Iga Swiatek in the French Open final. Gauff, currently ranked No. 2 in the world, previously won the U.S. Open in 2023, but this title ended up being more dramatic. Gauff lost the opening set to Sabalenka in a tiebreaker before coming back to win the final two sets of the match. "That first set was so long. It was like an hour and twenty minute, and then I went to the bathroom, used the bathroom, and I kind of had a mini-panic session," Gauff said during an appearance on The Today Show on Monday. "I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm so close.' And I was like, 'Ok, you've got to chill out. Still a lot of tennis left to play.' Just splashed some water on my face and my legs and I went out there and I was like, 'Let me just leave it all out here and see what happens.' " What happened were two sets in difficult conditions in which Gauff got the better of Sabalenka, grinding out points by taking advantage of Sabalenka's mistakes. Gauff said on the "Today" show she felt relief after winning the U.S. Open. When she fell to clay as French Open champion, she noted, there was more pride than anything else because she had set out to prove she could win another major, and particularly this major. Gauff didn't yet know that the prize was a lot smaller than she may have pictured in her dreams. But the trophy was already growing on her. "It is adorable," she said. "It looks just like the real one, but smaller."
