Aussie couple's viral wedding video shot like Hollywood film

Perth Now4 hours ago

You're supposed to feel like the main character on your wedding day, but one Aussie couple would have felt like A-list movie stars as they watched back precious highlights from the occasion that had been shot in the style of a Hollywood film.
But not just any film — a Wes Anderson-inspired short that had aptly captured the filmmaker's unique sense of hilarity, symmetry, and penchant for embracing the ridiculous.
Newlyweds Stephanie Nguyen and Jia Truong got hitched in October 2024, and recruited Adelaide wedding photographers and videographers Lifesketch Weddings to capture the affair.
Sharing results from the shoot publicly earlier this year, it was the couple's reaction video to seeing the film for the first time that has caught fire online.
The short movie has now racked up more than 10 million views on social media.

Unlike typical wedding films where joy is the overarching theme, in true Wes Anderson style, this one sought to capture even the most inconsequential moments as the overlay of piano weaved each scene together.
Beginning with a close-up of the pair, the camera proceeded to follow a couple of 'extras' — a city-dwelling pigeon, and an Adelaide Metro bus.
Focus quickly returned to the newlyweds enjoying a pot of tea while staring down the lens, and continued to shadow the pair's movements around the South Australian city as they shared awkward moments in the company of friends.
The film concluded with the couple approaching the camera, and pausing to lick an ice cream cone at what appeared to be their wedding venue.
Ms Nguyen told The Advertiser, 'I really like the (Wes Anderson) aesthetic, the style, the colours and the symmetry is just really pleasing'.
She said she had come across a similar video shot in Budapest by the team behind Lifesketch Weddings, and as a fan of Wes Anderson herself, felt the idea to re-create it was 'meant to be'.
The Adelaide-based operation was founded by married couple Marie and Christopher Pittman, who have won several Australian wedding-related awards in relation to their work.
Their website reads, 'Whether you're planning an adventurous elopement, an intimate ceremony with your nearest and dearest, or a ridiculously epic party with your cray cray famiglia and friends, we will bring all the vibes to capture every single moment for you to relive over and over again'.
Their latest edgy concept has drawn overwhelming admiration from viewers for its originality and creativity.
'That is the best wedding film I have seen,' one person commented.
'Wes Anderson would hate this so I love it more 🌹,' another added.

He is known for the use of confronting camera angles, pastel colours, and largely alternative storytelling techniques.
Others fans of the couple's clip felt they had missed an opportunity to take an alternative approach in capturing the special moments from their respective weddings.
'I'm gonna have to marry my husband again now so we can have you as a photographer,' one viewer teased.

Influencer ‘almost died' undergoing Brazilian butt lift

A popular OnlyFans creator has detailed her terrifying experience after a Brazilian butt lift procedure in Turkey left her 'vomiting blood'. Kayla Jade, an Australian influencer with 2.2 million TikTok followers, said she had always struggled with body image issues and heard people can undergo cheaper cosmetic surgery in Turkey. 'I didn't have a lot of money at the time, and I had heard so many people were going to get surgeries in Turkey – and that they were really good at what they did,' she said. The mother-of-two detailed her experience to her TikTok followers earlier this month, telling them she 'almost died' from the procedure. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . A Brazillian butt lift, also known as a BBL, is a cosmetic procedure that involves removing fat from a person's hips or abdomen and injecting it back into a person's butt, giving a curvier appearance. Kayla Jade told her followers she was awake throughout the surgery and recalled 'feeling everything' while lying 'paralysed' on the operating table. 'There was nothing I could do. I was just lying there in my head screaming, but I could just feel all the stuff that was happening,' she said. Following the procedure, she began vomiting blood and experienced immense pain. OnlyFans star Kayla Jade said her Turkey surgery experience was a 'crazy situation'. Brazilian butt lift patients are advised to lie on their stomach for at least six weeks post-op to allow the area to heal. She underwent a revision surgery back in Australia a year later as she wasn't happy with the results. 'They'd literally taken chunks out of my back, so the Australian doctor went and smoothed everything over.' Kayla posted her experience to spread awareness of the dangers of overseas cosmetic procedures. 'Please don't cheapen out like what I did and end up in some crazy situation,' she warned followers.

James Stewart's ex-wife seen out with new man

Former Home and Away star Sarah Roberts appears to have moved on from ex-husband James Stewart after being spotted in Sydney clutching the hand of a new flame. The former soap star is reportedly dating Sydney cinematographer Jake Iesu, who describes himself as an 'Australian based Steadicam operator and occasional pilot' on social media. Roberts confirmed her divorce from former co-star Stewart in an interview with Stellar in April 2024. Jake Iesu operates a camera on set. Credit: Jake Iesu/IG / IG 'I've been really afraid of talking about this because of what I've felt to be the stigma and shame around it,' she told the publication. 'But I just want to say that I'm divorced.' The 40-year-old admitted the pair had become less connected over time. 'I'll never speak on anyone else's behalf, but my belief in marriage is that two people grow and learn from each other together,' she said. 'Sometimes people just grow apart, and that's okay.' The former couple met in 2017 when Roberts was introduced as Willow Harris on Home and Away. They became engaged a year later, and married in 2019 in a lavish Irish wedding at Luttrellstown Castle on the outskirts of Dublin. According to Woman's Day, Roberts and her new beau were spotted on June 13 at an art show, and again a few days later as attendees at the Sydney Film Festival. Ada Nicodemou and James Stewart celebrated one year of dating in April. Credit: Supplied In a recent interview with Stellar's podcast Something To Talks About, she admitted to being 'so in love' in her new relationship. 'I love two people now: I've finally found a love for myself, which I know now in retrospect I didn't have for so long,' she said. 'I am still finding myself, but I have beaten myself up for a long time because I stayed in something that wasn't healthy. But now I have found this love for myself – and also fallen in love with a man. I'm so in love.' Roberts said having her relationship breakdown play out in the public eye made an already difficult situation much trickier to navigate. 'I imagine dealing with a divorce is hard enough,' she said. 'Dealing with it all in the spotlight – and then everything that came out in the media after – absolutely ripped my heart in a million little pieces.' While enjoying a career as a DJ when not acting, Roberts' latest role sees her appear in the documentary Make It Look Real which dissects the job of intimacy coordinators on TV and film sets. Stewart has famously moved on with long-time co-star and show veteran Ada Nicodemou, announcing their relationship in July 2024 after months of dating. He also shares daughter Scout with former actress Jessica Marais, whom he met on the set of Packed to the Rafters in 2009.
