Five-week countdown to Royal Highland Show
Scotland's premier agricultural event is now just over five weeks away.
And to highlight the drive to get show-goers to use public transport to get to and from the event, two lambs, a Highland coo and her calf, and a miniature Shetland Pony took a trip on an Edinburgh tram.
RHS will take place at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, over four days next month.
It starts on Thursday June 19, running through to the Sunday.
The annual event is focused on agriculture. But there's always plenty of food, drink, trade and lifestyle stands, and great entertainment to keep 220,000-plus visitors busy.
To mark the countdown to the show, lambs Hatton Morton and Hatton Maple, miniature Shetland pony Milday Ferregamo, and Highland coo and calf duo Siusan Ruadh 67th and Siusan 1st of Ar Leirsinn, hopped aboard a specially decorated tram.
The animals were joined by two-year-old Arthur Tennant and his mum and dad, Carol and David Tennant.
David, head of show for the Royal Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS), said: 'As the UK's largest agricultural show and biggest fundraising event for RHASS, the week of the show sees the event site become the sixth-largest population centre in Scotland, bigger than Paisley and Dunfermline, with over 220,000 people expected to attend.
'With such big crowds anticipated, we would encourage visitors to utilise public transport as the quickest and easiest way to get to the event.'
Tickets for the show are selling quickly, David said.
He added: 'Our family activities will include lots of exciting additions, such as the Mini Rovers and Land Rover Experience in the Motor Zone, and the already popular BMX rider demonstrations and RHET Discovery Centre, which provides educational experiences for children to learn about everything from robotic milking to butter-making.'
Education and learning about agriculture and rural life for families remain at the heart of the show, which children 15 and under can attend for free when accompanied by a paying adult.
This year's event includes an extended family offer on the Sunday, June 22nd, with more details to be revealed over the coming weeks.
David continued: 'Visitors can look forward to traditional livestock competitions and thrilling displays in the forestry arena which will include axe throwers, chainsaw carving, and pole climbers showcasing their impressive skills. The kids' zone will feature fun and interactive activities like live falconry, gundog displays, and hands-on crafts for younger visitors.
The Royal Highland Hoolie returns this year with an exciting lineup of music.

''The Royal Highland Show is one of the highlights of our calendar – and we'll be busy during all four days to ensure customers can get to and from the event quickly and safely.
'As well as the extra trams running to the nearby Ingliston Park and Ride, additional staff will be on hand to direct visitors to the showground… and a free shuttle bus will also provide a link to the east gate.

Matthew was found dead face down in his jacuzzi on October 29, 2023, leaving Hollywood shaken to its core after he bravely shared details of his addiction struggles with the public to dissuade others from following a similar path. Months later, a medical examiner determined that the actor - who had battled substance abuse issues throughout his life - had died of the 'acute effects of ketamine.' Legal analyst and federal criminal defense attorney Lou Shapiro told the Daily Mail he wasn't surprised Sangha decided to take the plea deal, especially since her co-defendants had done so earlier. The attorney said: 'When you look at the overwhelming evidence against her and what they found at her place alone - the drugs, the manufacturing equipment and the money - and tons of it, she was basically toast. 'There was nowhere for her to go. It wasn't if she was going to take the deal, it was a matter of just when.' Shapiro added: 'Even if you don't intentionally try to harm somebody or cause them great bodily injury or death, the mere fact that you are engaging in a conduct that is very likely going to result in death, you're going to be held accountable for it.' Shapiro argued that any arguments presented would have quickly crumbled under legal scrutiny and added: 'You can't look the other way and say, "I was just selling it. I was doing him a favor," That is not going to fly. 'This also sends a big message to the medical industry that doctors will be held fully accountable for death to bodily injury that results in their patients when they are merely prescribing drugs. 'These doctors knew what was going on and they fully participated in supplying Matthew Perry with as much ketamine as he wanted.' Shapiro cited court records in which the doctors themselves marveled at the extent of Perry's addiction and lengths he was willing to go to in his quest to get his next fix. He said: 'They even called him an 'idiot' at one point in their text messages,' Shapiro said. 'I think the medical community also will look at this as a tragedy for the loss of life but also, they are people who worked hard to become medical professionals. 'Instead, these doctors threw all of that away for greed.'

A woman has claimed her best friend's hen do was cancelled due to Elton John and David Walliams ' 'semi-private event' at a restaurant in Cannes. The two stars shared snaps of themselves having lunch at the expensive La Guérite restaurant and beach club, on the Île Ste-Marguerite, south of Cannes. But their attendance allegedly meant a group of women who booked a table at the venue in May to celebrate their friend's upcoming wedding had their reservation axed last minute. Taking a swipe at the stars on Instagram, a friend of the bride wrote: 'Hope you enjoyed La Guérite! Our reservation was cancelled for my best friend's hen do due to your "semi-private event".' She added: 'We booked our table in May didn't think it would be cancelled with 24 hours' notice.' Her claim was backed up by another woman, who wrote: 'So bad isn't it! We flew here especially for this for our friend's hen.' It is not known whether Sir Elton or Walliams were aware of any bookings being cancelled on the day of their event. The Netflix film was shot at a stunning Grade II listed house. The Thursday Murder Club airs on Netflix on August 28 and the film is an adaptation of Richard Osman's 2020 novel. Taking place at a retirement village known as Coopers Chase, the film follows four amateur sleuths as they take it upon themselves to investigate a recent murder. The film was shot primarily at Shepperton Studios in July 2024, as well as on location in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Production designer James Merifield chose somewhere he had filmed before to replicate the retirement village from the beloved book. To bring Coopers Chase to life, he chose Englefield House in Berkshire - a Grade II listed house originally built in 1558. The home has had substantial alterations since the 1820s, with Netflix explaining: "Its scale and architecture worked well as the ex-priory of the book. "Within the house itself, many rooms and corridors were dressed to provide the residents with their elegant communal spaces, but there were also some substantial set builds including the Jigsaw Room where the gang congregates." As for the nearby cemetery, the set was inspired by a corner of the famous Highgate Cemetery in North London. It was constructed so convincingly that several cast members thought it was real. Can you visit the Coopers Chase house? While Englefield House is a private residence and is not open to the public, the gardens are open to visitors every Monday throughout the year.
