Shipping Company Maersk Temporarily Pauses Haifa Port Calls
Container shipping company Maersk said on Friday it had temporarily paused vessel calls at Israel's Haifa port amid regional tensions.
The Danish company said it did not experience any further disruptions to its scheduled operations in the region.
Israel has been hitting Iran from the air since last Friday in what it describes as an effort to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
Iran has denied plans to develop such weapons and has retaliated by launching counterstrikes on Israel.
On Thursday, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said it had launched combined missile and drone attacks at military and industrial sites linked to Israel's defense industry in Haifa and Tel Aviv.

Syrian security forces detain cousin of toppled leader Assad
Syria's security forces have detained Wassim al-Assad, a cousin of toppled leader Bashar al-Assad, state news agency SANA said on Saturday. Wassim al-Assad was sanctioned by the United States in 2023 for leading a paramilitary force backing Assad's army and for trafficking drugs including the amphetamine-like drug captagon. Bashar al-Assad was toppled in December and fled to Moscow. Most of his family members and inner circle either fled Syria or went underground. Syria's new security forces have been pursuing members of the former administration - mainly those involved in the feared security branches accused of rights abuses. Rights groups have called for a fully-fledged transitional justice process to hold them to account.

Iranian FM to Attend Arab League, OIC Meetings in Istanbul
The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has arrived in Istanbul to attend two separate meetings on the Iran-Israel conflict, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported. On Saturday, Araghchi will meet with Arab League Foreign Ministers and the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The two meetings are taking place in light of the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, which erupted on June 13, 2025, following Israeli attacks on Iran. Both countries have been exchanging heavy aerial and missile strikes since then. The OIC meeting will discuss Israel's aggression on Iran, as well as broader regional security issues. Before that, an extraordinary meeting for the Council of Ministers of the Arab League will convene in Istanbul, according to TRT Global. More than 40 foreign ministers from the OIC member states will take part in the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, under the theme 'The OIC in a Transforming World.' 'At this meeting, at the suggestion of Iran, the issue of the Zionist regime's attack on our country will be specifically addressed,' Araghchi said, according to Tasnim news agency. Moreover, the Arab League diplomats are expected to issue a joint statement following their meeting, the Turkish state news agency Anadolu reported. The two meetings come on the heels of a meeting between Araghchi and the E3 (France, Germany and the UK) in Geneva on Friday. The meeting did not achieve a diplomatic breakthrough, but left the door open for future talks. Araghchi, on his part, said he was open for more talks with the E3 and the EU, reiterating that Iran will not negotiate with the US under conflict. 'Iran is ready to consider diplomacy if aggression ceases and the aggressor is held accountable for its committed crimes,' he told reporters after the Geneva meeting. Short link : Post Views: 10
