Looney Tunes comedy Coyote vs. Acme to finally hit theatres in 2026

Originally produced under Warner Bros. for HBO Max, Coyote vs. Acme was shelved in 2023 despite being completed, as the studio shifted its focus away from streaming projects. The decision, part of a broader strategy under CEO David Zaslav, also led to the cancellation of Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt. But unlike those titles, Coyote vs. Acme was rescued in March 2025 by Ketchup Entertainment, which reportedly acquired the film for around $50 million.

Warner Bros Discovery posts surprise quarterly profit on 'Minecraft' hit, streaming gains

Warner Bros Discovery posted a surprise second-quarter profit on Thursday, as the international rollout of HBO Max sent subscriber numbers climbing and blockbuster hits like "A Minecraft Movie" dominated the U.S. box office. However, shares of the company were down about 7%, after its cable TV unit reported a 9% decline in revenue due to continued erosion of domestic subscribers. As it restructures into studio-centric Warner Bros and cable-focused Discovery Global, the company is accelerating its global streaming push by expanding the Warner Bros and DC franchises into international markets. Its streaming unit, which also includes Discovery+, added 3.4 million subscribers globally, beating Visible Alpha expectations for 2.71 million additions, driven in part by its expansion into Australia. "A Minecraft Movie", inspired by the iconic videogame, grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide, while Michael B. Jordan starrer "Sinners" powered past $360 million at the global box office. A title-heavy quarter led to 55% growth in the studio, pushing total revenue to $9.81 billion in the second quarter and beating expectations for $9.76 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG. LAGGING TV BUSINESS CONCERNS INVESTORS The linear network unit- which houses CNN and TNT Sports- saw a 12% drop in advertising revenue as demand weakened amid the continued shift in consumer preference toward streaming. Investors were fretting that the studio success and new subscriber additions are "mere box-office cameos," while the sagging linear-TV business and upcoming increase in spending on sequels remain the main focus, according to Michael Ashley Schulman of Running Point Capital Advisors. WBD expects current-quarter advertising revenue for the TV unit to decline at a higher rate than the second quarter, given the lighter sports schedule and as CNN benefited last year from U.S. election coverage. The company's streaming unit posted an adjusted core profit of $293 million, compared with a loss of $107 million a year ago. WBD posted a quarterly profit of 63 cents per share, compared with expectations for a loss of 21 cents. "With high debt levels and continued challenges in traditional TV, some investors might be cautious and would like a wow factor to get them excited," said Adam Sarhan, chief executive of 50 Park Investments.

John Cena Reveals Doing Hair Transplant at 48 and Why He Wished to do It 10 Years Ago

John Cena may be fearless in the wrestling ring and on the big screen, but he recently shared that hair loss was one thing that quietly bothered him. The WWE icon and actor revealed he underwent a hair transplant in November 2024 after fans repeatedly pointed out his thinning hair. John Cena shared with PEOPLE that the turning point came when he tried to hide his hair loss during wrestling matches, only for the audience to notice. 'As I was trying to hide my hair loss, the audience was bringing it to light,' he recalled. 'I saw their signs that said 'The bald John Cena.' They pushed me into going to see what my options were.' The procedure, according to Cena, was straightforward. 'They don't do anything except move your hair, one by one, from one area to another,' he explained. Since then, he has committed to a maintenance routine of red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, shampoo, and conditioner. Cena admitted that stigma around hair loss kept him from addressing it earlier. 'I hate the fact that if there wasn't so much shame around it, I'd have gotten it done 10 years ago,' he said. 'I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 men suffer from thinning or baldness. If somebody's going to sweat me for that, I don't think there's any shame in that. It completely changed the course of my life.' Here's how it boosted his acting career The hair transplant, Cena shared, has opened up new opportunities in acting. 'A different hairstyle can identify a part that can get me more work, do the thing I love to do,' he said to PEOPLE. His Hollywood career has been on an upward swing with roles in Trainwreck, Fast & Furious, and his hit HBO Max series Peacemaker, which returns for season 2 on August 21. 'This has changed my life,' he said of playing Peacemaker. 'It's a great show that's more than just action. It's a love story. It's a workplace comedy.' Cena is currently in the middle of his WWE farewell tour and plans to retire from professional wrestling in 2025. He shared that age has played a role in his decision, as he is no longer as strong or as fast as he once was, and had promised himself that he would step away when he slowed down. Married to engineer Shay Shariatzadeh since 2020, Cena shared that his focus has now shifted toward health and family, with his well-being and commitment to his partner being his top priorities.

Robert Pattinson's Batman Part II to begin filming in 2026, release pushed to 2027

Warner Bros. Discovery has officially confirmed that 'The Batman Part II', directed by Matt Reeves, will go on floors in spring 2026, with a global release now scheduled for October 2027. The announcement comes on the heels of Reeves completing the much-anticipated script, a critical milestone for the studio before greenlighting sequel to 'The Batman' (2022), which starred Robert Pattinson and grossed an impressive $772 million worldwide, has faced multiple delays. Initially slated for October 2026, the release was pushed back by a year as the studio prioritised a finished screenplay over rushing into to Variety, James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, addressed the timeline shift, pointing out that long gaps between franchise instalments are nothing new. 'To be fair, a 5-year gap or more is fairly common in sequels,' he noted, citing examples like the 7-year gap between Alien and Aliens, 14 years between The Incredibles films, and the 13-year wait for Avatar: The Way of Water. Gunn emphasised the studio's policy of not beginning production until a completed script is in place, especially for major IPs. Taking to social media, Gunn also defended Matt Reeves against growing impatience online. 'People should get off Matt's nuts (sic),' he wrote candidly, adding, 'Let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it. He doesn't owe you something because you liked his movie.'Beyond the film itself, Warner Bros. reaffirmed its long-term vision for DC Studios as a central pillar of its entertainment portfolio. 'The DC Universe represents not just one of Warner Bros. Discovery's most prized intellectual properties - it's one of the most valuable in all entertainment,' the studio part of its expansive ten-year plan, the studio is developing a slate of interconnected projects across film and television, including 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Clayface', and the next chapter of 'Wonder Woman'.- Ends
