Pahalgam terror victim's daughter lauds attack on Pakistan
The Indian armed forces must carry out attacks similar to the ones they conducted pre-dawn on Wednesday at multiple targets in Pakistan (and POJK), if innocent civilians continue to be killed in terrorist attacks in India, Arathy, the daughter of Edappally native N. Ramachandran who was gunned down by terrorists at Pahalgam in front of her and her children, said here on Wednesday.
'While none can compensate us for the loss, I feel proud of our men in uniform who braved adversities and attacked the terrorist hideouts. It came as a relief, and the news came as a comforting moment, since what the terrorists did were acts of cowardice. I am praying for more strength for the armed forces,' she said.
On the attack being christened Operation Sindoor, she said that there is no name that is more apt than this, especially so since the dastardly attack by the terrorists led to many women, including her mother having to erase their 'sindoor' after their husbands were killed.

"We both have expressed concern about the ongoing conflicts in West Asia and Europe. Their negative impact is not limited to that region alone. We both believe that this is not the era of war," Modi said after his talks with the Cypriot president. Modi thanked Cyprus for its continued support to India's fight against cross-border terrorism and announced a new mechanism for real-time information exchange to counter terrorism, drug and arms smuggling. The president reiterated Cyprus's strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, backing India's sovereignty and territorial integrity. In a show of solidarity with Cyprus, Modi visited the Green Line - a UN-controlled buffer zone that separates Northern Cyprus, an area occupied by Turkish forces in 1974, from the Republic of Cyprus - along with Christodoulides. This is significant in the context of Turkiye's continued support to Pakistan that saw Ankara helping Islamabad militarily during the recent India-Pakistan conflict. Turkish President Recep Erdogan himself later said Turkiye would continue to stand by Pakistan, though "good times and bad". Modi also reiterated India's traditional support for Cyprus's unity and for a peaceful resolution of the Cyprus Question based on UN Security Council resolutions and international law. Several of these resolutions call for the withdrawal of Turkish forces from the island of Cyprus. "India reiterated its unwavering and consistent support for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of the Republic of Cyprus. In this regard, both sides emphasised the need to avoid unilateral actions as essential for creating a conducive environment for the resumption of meaningful negotiations," said a joint statement. Modi said the two sides would prepare a roadmap to give a strategic direction to the partnership for the next five years. On the issue of terrorism, both sides reiterated in a joint statement their zero-tolerance approach to terrorism, rejecting any justification for such acts, under any circumstances. "They emphasised that those responsible for the attacks should be held accountable," said the statement, while condemning the Pahalgam attack.

Sources added that the ED is probing deeper into the financial trail raising concerns over foreign fund diversions in the foreign bank accounts of Bedi and summons have been issued to him as part of the ED's agency's ongoing crackdown on foreign funds diversions through various bank accounts. They disclosed that Bedi has been asked to appear before the investigating officials of the ED at their office in Chandigarh, on Thursday. Talking to The Indian Express, on phone, Bedi said, 'I have not got it (the summons). Also, I would not like to talk on the phone about it'. Opening of Galwan Valley for tourists on 5th anniversary of India-China troops clash delayed
Galwan Memorial (Photo: ANI) SRINAGAR: Plans to open Galwan Valley hot springs in Ladakh for tourists on the fifth anniversary of the deadly clash between Indian and Chinese troops have been delayed, as construction of the war memorial needs further work. 'We have deferred the official opening of the Galwan Valley until the memorial is completed in perfection, as that will be the main attraction. It is about to be completed, but needs a finishing touch,' Tashi Gyalson, chief executive councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), told TOI. Gyalson said LAHDC was also working on amending permit regulations to allow visitors without special permission. 'It is just a matter of a few days before Galwan Valley is opened to tourists,' he said. The Ladakh administration, in collaboration with the Indian Army, is at present working to build supporting infrastructure in the area. The Galwan Valley hot springs near the Line of Actual Control were set to open on June 15 as part of a battlefield tourism initiative.
