Raman Arora was presented before the court on Saturday after his arrest. The vigilance department had asked for 10 days of remand, but the court granted five.
His counsel, Advocate Darshan Singh Dyal, said the case appears to be a "
political vendetta
." He claimed that the items recovered from Arora's house, including gold, Rs 6 lakh in cash, and several documents, were already listed in the affidavit Arora submitted during the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.
Speaking to ANI, AAP MLA Raman Arora's counsel, Adv Darshan Singh Dyal, said, "This case seems like a political vendetta...The statement of

, who has been in police remand for the last 8 days, has been recorded...The alleged jewellery and cash recovered from his place are included in the list from where he contested past elections. He had these things with himself before being an MLA...He has been sent to remand for 5 days..."

Late last night, Arora's medical examination was conducted at the Civil Hospital in Jalandhar, but he was not taken out of the car. Meanwhile, the police visited his house again this morning to search his home and car.
The vigilance team also questioned Arora's personal assistants (PAs), Rohit Kapoor and Honey Bhatia. Rohit told officials he only looked after police-related matters. A late-night raid at Honey Bhatia's house led to the recovery of a pen drive, laptop, and several documents.
The vigilance also raided the house of a local commission agent, Mahesh Makhija, in Charanjitpura and took him in for questioning.

The govt has plans to not only develop Telangana as the number one state in the country but also make it capable of competing with the world," the CM said. While sharing several achievements of the state govt such as Rs 20,600 crore crop loan waiver for farmers, nearly 60,000 govt and one lakh private jobs for the unemployed and other welfare schemes, the CM referred to the apolitical stand of the Congress govt in Telangana for the country by extending full support to the Centre and the armed forces during Operation Sindoor.

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 3 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a telephonic conversation with the Chief Ministers of the states of Assam, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh where rain-induced landslides, floods and flash floods have wreaked havoc, resulting in the loss of lives. Dhami spoke to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and got information about the heavy rainfall and flood situation in their states. Dhami said that the people of Uttarakhand stood in difficult times with the North Eastern states. The Uttarakhand government would provide all possible assistance to the concerned states if required a statement from the Uttarakhand CMO said. Several northeastern states like Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are grappling with a worsening flood situation following days of relentless rainfall, leading to overflowing rivers and inundation of low-lying areas. Meanwhile, on June 2, Dhami announced to increase the ex-gratia amount given to the dependents of the soldiers from the state who were killed in action from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. The government order, related to compliance with the announcement made by the Chief Minister, was issued on Monday. In the government order issued by the Sainik Welfare Section, it has been clarified that in the sequence of the announcement made by the Chief Minister, this amount will be allowed to the dependents of fallen soldiers who make the supreme sacrifice, from July 26, 2024. In this way, now the dependents of soldiers killed in action will be allowed an ex-gratia amount of Rs 50 lakh. The Chief Minister has said that Uttarakhand is also Veer Bhoomi along with Devbhoomi. 'Our brave soldiers have shown their indomitable courage and valour in protecting the borders of the country.' He said that many important decisions are also being taken in the interest of the soldiers under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Along with One Rank-One Pension, construction of the National War Memorial, an increase in defence budget, infrastructure have been strengthened in the border areas. The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed towards the welfare of the soldiers and their families. The ex gratia amount given to the dependents of the soldiers has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. The lump sum and annuity amount given to the soldiers decorated with all the gallantry awards from Param Vir Chakra to Mention in Dispatch has also been increased. The construction of Young India Integrated Model Schools in a vast area of 25 acres has been started and undertaken the construction of 58 schools. With the aim of providing international quality education to students from all social groups, Young India Integrated Residential School will be built in Manakondur in the district. This monsoon, the fertilizer requirement for agriculture was 26,957 metric tons, and 30,403 metric tons of reserves were made available to farmers. Saidapur mandal was selected as a pilot project to implement Bhu Bharati in the district and revenue awareness seminars were organised in every village of the mandal, Sridhar Babu said. About 77, 083 people applied for Indiramma houses. Out of this, 11,575 houses have been sanctioned to the district in the first phase.
